I did! Foundation-Brown Blaze Glo, for the lip I wore Chocolate Raspberry or Magenta Mist! I am tickled pink that FF is BACK!!!!! The packaging used to be bubblegum pink.
I did my Junior and Senior years of High School from 1992 to 1994. I'm a lipstick girl. Was never a full face makeup siren. I remember having to ask my Mother of I could wear lipstick. Lol! I wore a beautiful wine colored lipstick. Don't remember the name. I also used to wear their body oil. Maaaaaaaaaan, listen. I'm so happy they're back ❤
I had my favorite lipstick made by them glad they are back so I can get it again. My mom will be happy too she can get the lipstick she loves by them as well this is exciting and nostalgic
Ok so I’m really telling my age here. But I wore Fashion Fair for years, starting as a teenager, we’re talking the 80s. I remember as a teenager saving up my money to get makeup items at the Fashion Fair counter at the mall. Back then FF was one of the few makeup brands for WOC. It use to come in their iconic pink packaging. I use to use the soufflé which was a cream foundation that came in a jar with a little spatula which you used to scoop out the foundation. I think my shade was Bronze. It gave such beautiful flawless coverage. I would love to see how much they have reformulated the products. The only downside back then was that the foundation transferred pretty bad but the color selection was awesome. They use to give free makeup with purchase which was right up my alley because I definitely couldn’t afford a full collection of FF back then. This brings back so many memories of my first experience with makeup as a young teen. I will definitely be bringing this back into my makeup collection. I just hope they will continue to be innovative and allow themselves to compete in today’s makeup industry. They really were a superior brand back in the day.
Me, too. Fashion Fair was my first beauty purchase at the department store. I had just graduated from High School. I had my first job and could buy my own things. It brings back memories.
Yes Ms Stacey I too am telling my age here. I started wearing FF in the late 70's when I was in college. I remember when the Ebony Fashion Show would come to town the department stores that carried FF would have free samples of FF when you made a purchase. Oh I loved me some FF.
Wayyy back in the day, I'm talking 1970's, Fashion Fair and Flori Robert's was all we had. Both lines were pivotal, ushering in what we now know as Soft Glam. I'll miss the pearl pink packaging but I'm so glad to see it's back. 🥰👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I was a counter manager back in the day. I remember their lipsticks were excellent. For some reason I remember their nail polishes were really good. Nice to see them back. I read somewhere that black opal was purchased by the same owners.
Black History moment in Makeup: I was 13 and attended several Fashion Fair shows. Eunice Johnson created the Fashion Fair makeup line for her models. It was high-end, so it sold in Woodworth and Lothrops and Hechts (y'all remember those?) in September 1973. After her passing, her daughter was forced to sell. I'm so thankful to Desiree Rogers (she also owns Black Opal) and Cheryl Mayberry McKissack for buying it back (August 2021) and being it back to the states and taking it back in to Black ownership! I know they will be producing a full line with concealer and everything like before. It was such a beautiful line including skincare. Bravo to these ladies. Much love and blessings.🖤💋🤎🕊🥰🙏
I went and bought everything they had in my Sephora!!! This was the first makeup line I wore. My sister took me and bought me everything and I loved it even though it made me look red as a beet you couldn’t tell me NOTHING!! I was so excited to see THIS brand back because of what it meant to women of color particularly black Women!! ❤️
Hey ladies…..question has anyone else tried it since it came back? I want to know if it oxidizes like it did back in the day. I don’t to be walking around looking orange. 🤣😆
@@sweetbaby00000000 I had to return the pressed powder because it was red and I tried three shades in my range but the stick foundation is on point!! That was the issue back in the day it made u either look red or orange 😂😂😂 I bought three of the lipsticks. I’m just so happy they’re back ❤️
Nope I hated the red as a beet or orange as a tangerine look. I didn’t buy any Fashion Fair Cosmetics until they came out with the foundation shade called Butterscotch which had yellow undertones which they took forever to come out with because they created that shade ten years ago.
@@sweetbaby00000000 i think the colors are great ! I have both the pressed powder and cream to powder and they dont look orange or red on me! Id go in store so they can match you
I'm in my 60's, there I told my age and proud of it. Another one of my favorites the Translucent Press Powder 'Koke-Kola' I'm sure I did not spell it correctly, it was a game changer. I can go on and on.
Chile I’m so here for it! The pressed powder was my favorite in high school. I wore it like foundation with the Chocolate Raspberry lipstick. And I was a cheerleader too, couldn’t tell me I wasn’t fine!! 😂
Fashion Fair was my first beauty purchase from the department store. The history of Fashion Fair makes its comeback extra special for me. It’s from The makers of Ebony Magazine. It’s one of the first makeup brands made for black women. Well before the major luxury brands added darker shades in their collections. Ebony Fashion Fair was also a place for black models. It held fashion shows all over the country showcasing black models and black designers in addition the other well-known designers. Fashion Fair has its place in black fashion and beauty history. I’ll definitely try the new products.
When you said Fashion Fair is back, I hollered Yaaaaas!!! I was 16 in 1992 at a store called "PERSIANS" and had my face made up with Fashion Fair for the 1st time. The Makeup artist then deserve so much more respect. Alot people don't know that Fashion Fair & Iman WHERE THE BLACK MAKEUP LINES before Black makeup was as popular as is today. Honey, Fashion Fair had a Lipstick that I PRAYER TO GOD they brought back call "Chocolate Raspberry". It was THE MOST BEAUTIFUL Iced Plum color on dark skinned, LAAAAWD😁🥰. I'm being extra with excitement but this news made my heart smile. No shade to the newbies of Today but Fashion Fair is The Grand Dom of Black makeup, Periodt!!!
GIRL!!!!! I was in Sephora a couple of weeks ago browsing the aisles. When I saw the Fashion Fair display was under construction… I 👏🏾 WAS 👏🏾 SHOOK 👏🏾. I immediately snapped a pic and sent it to my friend like, “Girl! Fashion Fair is making a comeback!!!” Like so many ladies in the comments, my first “high-end” make-up purchase was Fashion Fair. That Chocolate Raspberry lippie and nail polish was a higher quality version of Wet n Wild’s Purple Passion. I had my makeovers done for prom at the FF counter, too. At that time I was not into complexion products, so I cannot wait to try them now. Thanks, Andrea, for the review and first reaction… my next Sephora purchase will definitely be from the FF brand. Now, if they bring back the FF fashion shows 👏🏾💃🏾🤎
I remember Fashion Fair. Their packaging was pink. It was even sold in Macy’s at one point and I also remember being little and seeing it in my local drug store, which was Black owned. That might have been before they were at their high point. They had beautiful lip stick colors. They also had perfume. I even remember they would have the Fashion Fair Fashion Show which was a big event. I never went, but wanted to. I hate they left, but I am glad they are back. And I love the face. Fashion Fair showed out. I will be getting some and letting my mom know they are back.
Yasss! Come through with the Fashion Fair review. Fun Facts: Fashion Fair, black owned, launched in 1973 catering to the beauty needs of women of color long before Mac or some old brands like, Estee Lauder and Clinique expanded their shade range. Macy's and Belk department stores was the spot. My mom wore it on Sundays (church) only. 🤣🤣 She purchased it once but eventually stop wearing it.. I remember the Iconic Chocolate Raspberry lipstick. I definitely want to try it. 💄
This was the only makeup for us back in the day. Glad to see it come back but hope it's not orange like it used to be. Ready for some chocolate raspberry lips.
Yessss!! Chocolate Raspberry is Gorgeous!! I used to play in the mirror in my Aunt's makeup in the bathroom. I would put it on, dance around & then clean it all off my face. 🤣😂🤦🏽♀️ That was my Favorite color lipstick!
Fashion Fair is awesome! The only makeup line back in the day that had colors for dark skin girls. I loved their Body Oil Spray. Hope that's back. Your finished look is beautiful. Great job 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤❤❤
If you had put one more "day" on that age description..... Girl... I was gonna have something to say! 😂😂😂😂 Especially since Fashion Fair was my introduction to makeup along with attending the iconic Ebony Fashion Show... Soooo... Yes... No surprises here. Fashion Fair is and has always been without a doubt the OG makeup brand for us brown girls. We simply were lured away. Glad they're back. Thanks for shining a light. Ready to support them again.
They were an excellent quality makeup for brown girls when there were no options in drugstores and department store brands had little to no options as well.
Girl, I had to call my Auntie to tell her favorite makeup brand is back. I remember we went to Macy’s a while back and they told her they didn’t carry it anymore. She was pissed lol. So I will take her to Sephora to get her some. Thanks for the vid 💙
I played in my grandmother’s Fashion Fair as a child. It was my introduction to make up. I just saw they brought the Chocolate Raspberry lipstick back which was my grandmother’s favorite, and probably one of the very first lipsticks I ever bought. I know I’m going to buy it just for the nostalgia.
I can't wait for them to bring back their eye shadow pallets. They were so bold and rich. Fashion Fair was my first luxury brand when it was sold at Belk's and Dillard's when my mama brought it for me. I was saying all last year they need to revamp.
FF is looking great. Back in the day, Chocolate Raisin was my favorite lipstick color. The foundation color looks very good. Previously, their foundation had extremely red undertones that didn’t match me well. The new FF has more golden undertone options. I purchased the Chocolate Raspberry lipstick from Sephora and the formula is even better than I remembered. I believe the Chocolate Raspberry was their most popular shade. I would love to see a swatch video. Before Mac Cosmetics, Fashion Fair was the only makeup brand with shades for deeper toned skin.
Fashion Fair was the first foundation that I was introduced to. My grandma wore their powder foundation and lipsticks. I'm happy that a Black owned brand is getting a new start in Sephora.
Fashion Fair use to be my top brand back in the day! I started wearing the foundation at the age 15, it was my first foundation. I am 59 now! Lol.. Thanks for the review
Fashion Fair was the only make up brand I wore as a teenager thru my early twenties. I’m very curious to see if the formula has changed. The only downside back then was that the foundation would transfer very easily.
I remember the Fashion Fair commercials on channel 2 (Bay Area) when Soul Train was on and ads in Jet and Ebony. The pink packaging was iconic. I’ve always appreciated how feminine their packaging was. Since I generally have my makeup on for 12-15 hours during the work week, I need to see how a product wear before buying.
GIRL!!! You better say this right here. STOP IT!!! I’ve been waiting for someone to review, I’m more than positive the products have been TWERKED AND FINESSED.
This brings back memories of when I first fell in love with makeup. FF had a lipstick called Chocolate Raspberry... I wore this all the time. LOL. Back in the day I could not where the foundation - I have a yellow undertone and FF made me look like an orange pumpkin. I am definitely going to pick up the foundation stick. Thanks for doing this video 🥰
30 years ago today I wore fashion fair makeup at my wedding. I think that the foundation stick was so beautiful on you. I may have to check them out again
Yessss! I used to use Fashion Fair back in the day. The packaging was pink, so that has changed. Also, it was mostly oil based. So you had to have powder with you if you had oily skin. Formula has definitely changed. The foundation was sort of thick, not buttery at all... LOL. Eyeshadows & lipsticks were pretty. One of the popular lipstick in the 80s, was chocolate raspberry. A fuchsia color. I’m excited to try it again.
Yes, it was thick but, they had an Oil Free Line, and that was the game changer for me. FLAWLESS. I would literally get stopped on the street and people would asked , what are you wearing. No lie, stopped. LOL.
Yes that was my makeup back in the 80’s and 90’s. I would go to the mall and get a makeover then purchase the products they use. I was glad to hear it’s back. ♥️
Come on back Fashion Fair! The original triple OG of makeup for women of color back in the day. If their formulas are still good I definitely will be glad to see them back in my makeup bag! Thanks for reviewing this brand Andrea!!❤️
My sisters wore Fashion Fair c cosmetics back in the 70's Colorful makeup. My Mother use to go to the Fashion Fair Fashion shows when they came to town.
Yessss!!! You wore Fashion Fair makeup and Brown sugar color stockings by Leggs! You got in my wallet again with that Charlotte Tilbury magic cream 🙄😭😂
I wore it back in the 90's. Fashion Fair then was the Fenty beauty of today. Looking at your makeup which came out beautifully I'm going to say their new line is new and improved but you also have to keep in mind that the way we wore makeup in the 90's is totally different from the way we wear makeup today
I used to use Fashion Fair when I started doing my makeup. It was the only makeup out there for women of color. I will be trying the foundation, primer, and setting powder soon. Thank you for the wonderful tutorial. You looked beautiful as usual.
Girl your look took me back to the 70s when I rocked Fashion Fair. It was my jam. You look beautiful, you know during college we looked like dream girls using these products.
Love your channel but rarely take the time to comment, but today I got time! This is so nostalgic for me because my mother wore Fashion Fair and when I started wearing make up she took me straight to the Fashion Fair counter. Prom ‘91 baby! That was my first makeup beat down. Fashion fair was always top notch in terms of quality and color range for WOC.
Finally! I heard a while ago they were coming to Sephora. My aunts and older cousins wore fashion fair. I use to love going to the counters with them to buy it. Good memories. I will buy just to have it. The packaging is definitely different.
Fashion fair is all I used back in the day, and it woked perfect. That was in the late 1980. Now that I am older it doesn't work the same on my skin. All I can say it worked excellent at that time. I loved the pretty pink colors of the boxes and the beautiful free gifts. I tell you I was in love with this makeup. lol
I was so excited for the return of Fashion Fair.. this was the hit brand back then and it wasn't too far back because I remember buying moisturizer in 2001/2002. I got the foundation and lose powder and I really like it
Girl I'm so happy fashion fair is back. Bring back memories of my mom and GMA using it. My first makeup brand besides clinique I started wearing when I was 16. Whew I feel old..that was back in 98 lol
I would be interested in trying some concealer ... back in the day... it went orange and I couldn't find a shade that worked but sister matched well. As someone else stated, the lipstick was firah!
Fashion Fair was a brand for us Black women and it was big like FENTY/Revlon/Cover Girl and all others are today. The line has changed tremendously and I am happy to see its return improved.
I’m really glad Fashion Fair is back. Been a customer since 1973. When they came back, they didn’t have my foundation color, which is Brown Blaze. They have since brought it back into existence and I’m thrilled. Best of luck to them.
This looks so good on you! My Mother wore all the Fashion Fair products & was she couldn't believe they were making a comeback! I'm going to get the foundation stick and the cream to powder... Mom says their lip products were her fave so we will try a red and dark brown if they still have them! I'm sold! So radiant!
My 84 yr old Grandma swears by FF. She had the stick and the compact from BACK IN THE DAY🤦🏾♀️ I’m so happy to be a blessing to bless her with new goodies. She was so happy when her package came in the mail 🤍🤍🤍
You look so beautiful! You did a great beat with that makeup...your skin looked so natural and smooth....somethings about FF have not changed then! It always looked gorgeous on me and smooth like that. You should also try their great lipsticks!. BTW I have used FF since I was a teenager and WILL be buying everything i can at Sephora!
I was a counter manager for FASHION FAIR in 1981-1985. This was the first major department store cosmetics for women of color….. everything sold out constantly and I loved it…. Slowly other major brands started ‘trying’ to indulge WOC with their products. Some formulas were a MISS and some were right on! Now with Fashion Fair BACK! along with Fenty and Juvia’s Place, and Danessa (?) Myrick, and now along with companies like NARS, Estée Lauder and countless other major and Indie companies, WOC are getting the recognition we deserve of our unique beauty.. Andrea, enjoy. I’m sure the excellence that is Fashion Fair has resurfaced into the beauty community taking up where they left off….
Y'all! This makes me so happy! I'm 48, but FF was my mother's favorite makeup. She wore Translucent Amber. I remember going to the mall with her to buy it. Sometimes Penney's, sometimes Castner Knott/Dillard's. So of course it was my first makeup too. Do you all remember the Fashion Fair Fashion Shows? My mom and her best friend took us (my best friend) every time they came to town. One of my mom's coworkers named her daughter Shayla after Shayla Simpson. ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for sharing that FF is back! Can't wait to order some!.
Yes ma'am, I wore Fashion Fair back in the day. I didn't care for it so I switched to Mary Kay. The look of the product was good but it was not a good look on the complexion. After watching this (since we use most of the same colors) I am excited to say that I want to try it. Your face looked flawless. I love the new packaging.
Yes, I remember and used Fashion Fair back in the day. I have used their skincare and love their orange lipstick. They had the best orange lipstick for brown ladies. I will give them try again. Thanks for sharing-great job.❤️
From your look with Fashion Fair makeup, the formula has not change one bit. You look beautiful, which is not surprising. I wore Fashion Fair for years. It was the leading makeup for women of color.
This looks amazing! I'm sold on the foundation stick! I have never heard of this brand and I was probably too young. No one around me wore makeup back in the day
I was a counter manager for them in the early 2000's. My first foundation was from Fashion Fair as a teen in the 90's. Lipstick was top notch along with their eyeshadow.
I remember seeing Fashion Fair commercials on TV 📺 back in the 1970’s which we were watching Soul Train 🚂. During the 80’s when I got to high school I began using their products. I loved it. Over the years, it began harder and harder to acquire their products so I began using other product lines. I used to go to their fashion shows. I got my first matte lipstick 💄 from FF. The last FF products I used was their golden highlighter and their bronzers. I bought the line from Macy’s and Dillard’s. I am so glad to hear that Fashion Fair is back in action! I will keep my eye 👁 out for them at Sephora.
I just spoke Fashion Fair up about 6 weeks ago! I believe this brand came out in the mid 90’s. This brand was all women of color had! I’m glad to hear there back. Back in the day the packaging was light pink like MaryKay! Thanks for the review!
Yes I wore Fashion Fair back in the day when I was a teenager and I loved it so much my mom wore it too. It looks gorgeous on you and I will be purchasing some products I’m glad they’re back oh by the way there lipstick is good also. Thanks for sharing!!🤗💖
I remember seeing Fashion Fair in the Jet and Ebony magazines as a kid (I'm a 90s baby) but I wasn't old enough back then so now I'm grown and I'm glad they brought it back
AAAAAHHHHH💃🏽💃🏽 I'm 37 and I...LOOOOVE... FASHION...FAIR! It was a sad day when they left the Macy's. When I walked in Sephora yesterday I missed it because I went with Makeup For Ever. However, when I went in there today (to tell the sales associate that I am COMPLETELY HAPPY AND SATISFIED with the foundation)...I glanced around and saw the Fashion Fair section. I was like a child having a fit/fanning out as if I'd seen my favorite singer (Whitney Houston)😄😉 They were not completely stocked with all products so I'll go back and get my favorite blush in Chocolate Chip when it's in stock and I'll try a foundation. I used to use their sticks, but I forget which color.
I'm 63 and I wore FF until they stopped making the products. My Auntie started using FF when it 1st came out. She was asked to be a plus-sized model when she was shopping in Lane Bryant. My Aunt Cynthia was gorgeous! She taught me everything about make-up and FF. Auntie was 74 and recently passed. She's my FF memories.
When my mom lived in Chicago back in the day, she attended an event at a theater downtown that the actress Jayne Kennedy hosted. Back then, Jayne was a spokeswoman for Fashion Fair cosmetics and she was doing facials and talking to different women about the different FF products. Mom and her best friend were sitting in the front row, and she told me how she remembers that day so well. Mom had NEVER worn lipstick before (she thought her lips were too big), until Jayne told her that she should embrace her full lips and start wearing it. There was a shade called Pure Plum that Jayne introduced her to, and Mom wore it ever since! My oldest sister and I are well in our 30’s now, but we were definitely introduced to FF too. It was the first line of cosmetics we ever tried. I still have the red FF blush that my mom passed on to me that she kept for YEARS. The foundation never lasted on my oily skin (I think the name of the kind I wore was called Bronze Glow??), but I used to love their Lip Teasers!! I’m actually glad to see they’re back. Brings back a lot of fond memories for me. 🥰
My mom definitely wore this when I was younger. I remember that it had a distinctive smell. I also remember wearing their lip gloss. I think I will give them a try and go get some things.
Oh snap!!! FF is back! Yay! I wore FF faithfully for about 20 years and was crushed when it disappeared from counters. Glad its new owners successfully brought it back. I wore topaz glo foundation with them. I love my current foundation (Ben Nye) but plan to try some of their products... My mom had FF lipsticks and pressed power back in the eighties. Wow. Glad I found your channel. ;)
