EXTRAORDINARY! Being the son of a tailor that work for the Jews in the garment district late 50’s and 60’s it’s amazing to see a black man take on and create his own fashion line. Becoming an icon in that world is a major achievement and inspiring. My hat goes off to you DAPPER DAN. Thank you for your positive spirit and energy. Just what WE needed!

I remember in 1986 buying the original Gucci tennis sneakers that were a must have because all the drug dealers were wearing them and I couldn’t find any sweat suits by Gucci to wear the sneakers with so, I got on the Grayhound bus and headed to Harlem NY from Philly. Long story short, I had Dan make me a sweat suit that got the attention of Cool C, Steady B, Will Smith when I wore it to a 80’s hip hop festival in Philadelphia pubic park called the fairmont park Plateau

Saw the Harlem Renaissance exhibit at the Met yesterday. If you get a chance, go see it. And have the soul food meal in the cafeteria ("The Eatery). It's the only thing on the menu that's good, and worth the price ($21).

i'm from the Pacific Northwest but grew up on New York hip hop almost exclusively. Dapper Dan's name rings bells even to my neck of the woods. to say he's a legend would be an understatement. them Dapper Dan leathers. bro looks fucking incredibly for 80 years old.

When you greet a man in Trinidad & Tobago in the 90’s , you called him Dan . Dance Hall musicians in Jamaica during this time , also referred to themselves as a Dan . Meaning clean , well dressed & respectful.
