Their references are shallow. The fact that they booted the ones who referenced Original Filipiniana Ternos just shows how shallow their understanding of the culture is.

Give me life Philippines. I just watched the finale looks from France. Shocking display from the global heart of fashion. Booted nearly all of them. Need my faith restored.
Umm.. the first one was actually a food reference. Marina serving fish - Bangus. Also, Terno is such a weird word for me since it has evolved to the sleeves we now know, but growing up it means matching top and bottom (just like how Corazon said she and Turing were terno sharing the same the color). Also, Terno in spanish means 3 piece suit. As a Filipino myself who is learning spanish - I am amazed by how language has morphed specially in swardspeak.
I’m a baby drag race fan so I didn’t know too much about Ongina and thought y’all were joking when I kept seeing she’s from season 1. So I googled it and holy shit she looks 25, not 40
Did you realize that Drag Race is expanding its franchise to countries that started to develope their own drag franchises? La más draga in México. In Philipines they had the drag tv show with Manila. In Germany they have this succesful Heidi Klum drag tv show. In Brasil they had another one, and I can keep going. It's like if Drag Race doesn't want to have competitors out there.
Can I just say - RPDR Philippines is INCREDIBLE! The looks, the energy, the comedy and they way all the queens are interacting is so fresh and fun. I was truly impressed.
No shade but, I did not expect Rock to give such insightful critiques and sensible feedback about fashion! And then Ongina teaching the children about terno history? Gurl, it was edifying and I’m here for it! This is such a breath of fresh air from the mean-girl know-it-all-but-limited-knowledge corset-wearing designer-loving just-say-no attitude we saw from the previous FPR.
Great choice of hosts for Fashion Photo Ruview: Drag Race Philippines. Ongina knows her Filipino references, and Rock M. Sakura is not afraid of sharing her honest critiques and opinions. I love the balance of how Ongina looks at the runway with Filipino lenses, and Rock from the eyes of the international audience.
can you imagine that other queens do the fashion photo review? they wont understand the history and meaning... this is soooooo correct in all aspects... cant wait for the next episodes... it justify now why the Filipina queens in Rupaul´s Drag Race has soooo much energy... always in 1000%
even these "Filipino" queens don't have that much of understanding either so what's the difference. I would have suggested to have WOW hire drag queens or even just personalities from the Philippines even if they are not part of the Drag Race franchise coz clearly, the cultural awareness is lacking to a high level. Or better yet, hire Kyne and Prince Stephanie from DR Canada, instead of Rock, coz they really represented the Philippines during their seasons

Drag Race Philippines is truly going viral! So much talent, so much drama, so much emotion, so much culture; so much pride. The first two episodes truly blew me out of the water.
Random take, anyone else get Marge Simpson from Eva LeQueen's look? The blue hair and the green dress with pearl necklace. The layers that twirled into rosettes and silhouette were gorgeous.
I honestly agree with Ongina with her choices in this episode. Lady Morgana was honestly a toot and would have been safe if ony her talent portion was more polished. I loved Eva’s look and even if she just soft toot-ed it, I can see why she did. But the dress was gorgeous
Rock here is a totally different energy than we’re used to seeing. I was pleased with her analytical and constructive critiques. Unexpected duo, but love it. Love seeing Ongina!
Thoroughly amazed with rock. Was getting sick of the trixya-esque "hurr durr I'm like so quirky and random xD", so I'm glad she's finally showing her skill and knowledge in drag and being serious when it's needed (actually reviewing the runways) while still going back to her usual self when it's in-between the segments and there's leeway to not be so serious

This critique is detailed, highly informed, constructive and above all fair. Be it a toot or boot, O and R 's comments gave these queens the respect they deserve for all their effort. Which is more than I can say for Violet and Gottmik's AS7 Ruviews.
I disagree with some of Rock's boots, however that's her opinion and she explained well her sensible reasoning behind it. It's good that she's honest, explains her point of view without being bitchy, and has clearly thought a lot about it. And of course Ongina is just amazing in every way!
rock m sakura is very detailed on her assignment. i love her critiques cos it comes from her fashion sense. 1000% better than violet and gottmik who killed the series with lotsa hates.

These duo feels CORRECT! I love that they are not passive with each other and has their own opinion. Unlike the other show that I saw lol. But Rock M please not this Auntie wig tho. Would love to see your colorful drag pleasse.. Been following her channel and I love her colorful drag. This is why she's very critical when it comes to colors and Hair coz that's what she does.

Rick gives great critiques! I also agree with what ongina says but I can also really appreciate how rock uses the “compliment sandwich” and she also just makes really great points that I don’t have to eye for myself! So awesome! So glad drag is alive and well

I was so worried that AS7 would ruin regular drag race for me but damn these girls are bringing it! This is my first international season and I am living for it! Mama Pao is fabulous.
Is this the FPR that the one filipino queen was so disgusted by she couldn't finish watching 😳? I didn't think they ripped anything apart , it's understandable if some references are lost in translation.
In their defence, the reference was not that clear after seeing the reference photo it was not clear enough of a reference. But also miss thing is very dramatic so I think it was a bit of an exaggeration.
If anyone should have the reaction she did it should be lady morgana considering hers was very historical AND ongina tried telling her that it was terno too. They also did not like it which is very weird since it’s fucking beautiful. The other queen got SHOWERED in compliments but her sleeve was very ambiguous in what it was.
Some queens can't handle opinions, but Rock M and Ongina definitely do well in the ruview, there was a conversation and explanation. Perfect duo for this Ruview!!!
When Ongina says you could wear Minty's look for a National Costume in the Miss Universe pagent at 12:32, it's because IT IS inspired by the winning national costume by Gazini Ganados for the Miss Universe 2019 pagent. I believe Stephanie Prince's finale look in Canada's Drag Race S2 is also inspired by it. Look up "Gazini Ganados Philippines National Costume" ------ It's ICONIC!
Marina and Eva’s looks are technically “terno.” It’s just that Eva’s did look more like haute couture from designers mentioned than what they expected.
