Not for good quality. Spending like 60 bucks on a dress makes sure the dress will last longer than something that’s fast fashion... I don’t like spend that much on clothes either but it’s worth it when they last longer in the long run.

I think it’s because, like he said. When something like that is so inexpensive you have to wonder why it’s so cheap. Like things on Wish are so cheap because they aren’t paying their workers anything and they work in such harsh conditions. They need to be making a profit and just by looking at the dress and the material, I’d say the work that went into making it is worth at least $30. So to pay for labor, materials, shipping, and still be making a profit at $30?? How must the worker who made that have been treated. Poorly I’d imagine.

Cassidy Louwerens I see your point but the thing is, many luxury brands use the same disgusting outsourcing techniques as the inexpensive fast fashion brands. The fashion industry is founded on blood and sweat, and it’s not fair. The best we can do is research where our clothing comes from and do our best not to support exploitation and abuse.

Jassani Pickens Thank you! I’m reading all the comments and I’m confused why everyone is hating on him so much. They’re saying he’s dissing on people with less money, but that’s not what he saying at all. He’s not judging anyone personally, just the dress based off of his knowledge. It’s so hard for me to see the RU-vid community always want to jump on an attack every little thing, regardless of whether there’s actual basis to it or not. So thanks for being a somewhat bright light, and all of the darkness of the Comments on this video.

YES! Thank both of you! I agreed with a lot of what they said. Good quality dresses are usually more expensive because they use more fabric, pay their workers a decent wage, or is made of more expensive fabric (such as real silk). I thought the pink dress was pretty until he touched the fabric and talked about how it was literally all plastic. It's nicely made, but it's made out of material not made for your body and it will make you SO warm. Also, some people have words in their vocabulary that people tend to misunderstand. "Ew" is one of them. When he says that, it's more like a "oh my god what" in a negative way, and being negative about a cheap dress does NOT mean they are stuck up. They are right to be suspicious considering fast fashion and the horrible conditions of the workers. I could go on and on about this, but I'll just leave it at this

It’s the perception that something can be disgusting simply because it’s “cheap” I believe the assumption that something inexpensive is equatable to something dirty is the reason that I don’t think his comments are that of a professional stylist I believe someone who’s a professional should have more rational and valid input. If he “hates” something just because it’s inexpensive and he has no other validation for his feelings how can you call this person a “professional”.

Everyone is feeling some type of way about their reactions, but at the end of the day they're just clothes. If you wanna wear a cheap dress thats cool, if you wanna wear a cheaply made dress thats cool too. If someone doesn't like your dress thats fine. As long as it makes you feel great.

@@linaa2117 everyone needs to chill on that "ew." This isn't about people not being able to afford $300 dresses. It's about what kind of conditions a $30 dress that looks like that must have been made in. You're already paying for pattern-making, material, shipping, etc. Deduct all of that from $30, now shave off some more for company profit, and how much exactly is left for the people that actually physically MADE the thing? Large, cheap, trendy wardrobes are only possible through slave labor. "Ew" is an appropriate response.

From the context it's clear that he said "ew" bc he didn't like that the dress is cheap (after ranting about the fabric and clearly prefering dresses that cost 200+ dollars). Of course it might be that you are right about his reason, but it seems highly unlikely.

yeah, and he wasn't wrong. Brands will price their things within a certain range. I work at a clothing boutique where we buy stuff from designers, and our range is $30 to $80. Some are cheaper and will not last that long (like some of those knit sweaters) to stuff that is nicely made and unique. Each brand tends to be a certain price, no matter what the item is or its quality. Also, yes, $10 is CHEAP. For a nice dress, you can expect to pay hundreds of dollars, especially if it's a luxury brand AND is a brand that treats its workers well. The price difference between a $10 shirt and a $40 shirt, I find, tends to be worth it in longevity.
