I enjoyed the heck out of watching this. Being in California for 30 years now it was fantastic to see the old place and faces that were once familiar every weekend when I was down "Sarf". Interesting to see how some people have changed........But yet stayed the same ! :-) Well done to everybody out there your all heroes to me both Yellow and Pink I'm proud of you ALL it looked like a great show.
I have been out of racing for 24 years myself. The doctors tell me I can't ever race again or it could sever my spinal cord due to old work related injury. I have also had throat cancer and the radiation left my lower jaw quite frail. If I were to break it, I would have to have the jaw of a cadaver put in to replace it. Oh well I can't complain at all. It was 200+ demolition derbies 89 heat wins and 78 feature wins. 49 figure 8 races, I forget how many heat wins, and 17 feature wins. I am more than happy with those numbers and regret none of it!
I loved every second of this. 👍👍 Fantastic effort to all those involved. I know how it feels to never race again. Nowadays l’m a volunteer at my local race track. Watching from Australia. 😊👍👍🦘🇦🇺🦘
This is one of the best documentary's I've seen last years. You see the true fear and joy of these men. Not the random scripted bullshit. It's straight from the heart.
Ugh. Barely see this in my country. I need to sign up for this. Always a fan of smashing cars to scrap metal. A way to release the stress after a bad day at work.
Best sport I have ever done I would love to do it again but my back says nooooooo fantastic lineup and some great names. Your body may retire but your mind will never
Banger racing is in my blood. And this is such a honourable video. Alot of you old lads went to the mud track called henham, and you all know dirt hurt, but hats off to you all
I’m a ministox driver and it’s the best thing ever, I have tried so many different sports from gymnastics to swimming and karate but stock car racing is a hole lot different and a hole lot better, it’s best hobbie in the world 🏁👊💕💜
Does anyone remember that team who were from deepest south west but used to come east for some of the bigger meets, used to have all white cars, I'm thinking the warlords.
Sell the parts of these 100 NX ! So many of them at the same place.. unbelieviable , I had to come accross this video as a passionate for this very car.. And i've only watched a few :D
Car 175 @ about 24 mins, surely that's not the John Steward national hot rod driver? never knew he was a banger driver first if it was him. Thanks for posting, I use to race stock rods and superstocks for spedeworth never raced at Arena
45:30 try putting your helmet on first before the neck collar. A racing team with pink cars named the condoms? What was there signature move? Rear ending other cars?
SUICIDE SQUAD THE BEST BANGER RACING TEAM EVER SIMPLY THE BEST . The comdoms / cream team / nomads / vermin / and more against the squad but i suppose they needed 4 times as many to beat them but it was all good fun as a spectator and there no.1 fan lol. i use to sit on the pit bend with squad banner on the fence many years ago lol
I used to race at coombe valley dover in a team call the bodgers & im trying to find some footage from the early 90s dose anyone know if there is any & how I can find some please
Good god, there are some good teams in this film. The Condoms, Suicide Squad to name two. Are they still going at all? Absolutely loved banger racing and I just wish it would get the same coverage as any other motorsport does on TV. Just heard in the documentary that the Suicide Squad disbanded a while back. So, that answered my question.
Power to the Sheeple the it’s not the best but some bangers only last a meeting so what’s the point of a full cage if it’s gonna get smashed to shit anyway
If they were hitting each other like that in fully ironed out cars like stock cars, then they would get seriously hurt, the fact that bangers fold up is what takes a lot of impact away from the drivers themselves, use some logic.
@@Albert-lj5jb A cage should not prevent the body from giving or folding up to absorb impact. It can be just large enough to surround the driver to give him full protection from all directions. But I can see them using what they are completely familiar and happy with. As an old racing statement goes, "You run what you bring"!
@@ronfullerton3162 Exactly, that's why in Stock Cars, although still full contact, doing follow-ins and head-ons is not allowed since the strengthening of the cars is so much that the drivers can get seriously injured from big impacts. That's not to say it still doesn't ever happen..... I've seen more people get seriously hurt in a Stock Car than in a Banger, because the latter gives a lot, whereas the former doesn't give much at all.
There's a steel plate that's bolted across the drivers door though the pillars that effectively forms part of the roll "cage" As well as protecting the driver from drivers door hits it helps to keep the bulkhead on the drivers side from collapsing onto the driver in hard front end impacts.
Mate, you want to read the rules, you can’t have a full cage, only a H-Frame, you have a full harness, and most of the time, the cars are welded to hell. Also buckets seats are banned
Angus Some are and that is too many. I have known people to lose mint classics just so some brain donor can kick the windows out, cut the wings and pretend to do motorsport. I see there is another mk1/2 Granada meet coming up. Why? Leave some cool cars on the road. Idiots.
itsallac0nspiracy I don't care 😂😂 banger racing is better to watch than f1, who cares about if old granadas die, they weren't nice in their time anyway 😂
