Saber duel between Jon and Nathan with Resolved in Steel HEMA. Jon hasn't been able to make it to class much recently, but he wanted some action to help knock the rust off!
If you're in Kitsap and are interested in getting into HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts), we hold classes on German Longsword, Italian Rapier, British Military Saber and Highland Broadsword in the Silverdale/Poulsbo area.
Check us out at www.resolvedinsteel.com
Thank you to ANDELANA for the music used (with permission) in the intro and outro. Check out their song Malleus Maleficarum on spotify at: open.spotify.com/track/0L7HzlpSfM3Y5ZECPPmdW1?si=d639aab832a046e0.

Unsolicited two cents coming up: Grey needs to use his rear foot as an anchor when lunging. He's dragging it with him resulting in him being unable to recover safely after a failed attack. Compounding this is a tendency to bend his arm while cutting. This shortens his range and makes him all the more vulnerable to Black's wonderfully snappy riposts. Good stuff!

Thanks for the critique! We're all in different places with our HEMA journey, one of the reasons we record our videos is so we can watch ourselves after the fact and see how we can improve.

What model sabers are you using here?

We are using the Regenyei, "Duelist Saber" and the other is a ColdSteel Hutton training saber.

Could it be that in reality swords were so light and bent so easily? No comparison with the Japanese sword, Katana!

Loooool. No these are practice swords made of spring steel. Real sabers would have been significantly stiffer out of necessity. These are flexible for safety. Though neither sword based its efficacy on its stiffness. The advantage of European swords were in their mechanics not in there craftsmanship. Sabers have better hand protection better engineering for example distal taper etc. Are about as long as a katana but much more nimble.
