I mean yeah... They really should watch their words when being sponsored by a certain company to promote their cars lol. The i20 N Line isn't that bad tho, the full packaging of it is really neat and tidy. Doesn't feel as slow as you might expect, the 1.0 liter turbocharged engine still is stronger than most 1.0 out there (I have 0.9 turbo Renault Clio with 90HP). Still no sportscar by any means but isn't too far off from being a fun hatch to drive even on track. i20N definitely is the winner by all means, and even if I strongly believe in faster drivers in slower cars, theres so much more power to the i20N that the regular i20 couldn't even really compete against.
@@royliber3824 as much as I dislike Hyundai, i must say that the i20 is actually a pretty decent car. I'm driving a built E46 328Ci, wide and sticky tires, suspension, strut bars, stabilizers etc etc and 247hp. Driving on my favourite back road one day and had an i20 in front of me. Dude drove like a fucking madman, i honestly had trouble keeping up with that thing in the corners. He carried so much speed through the turns, while I had to keep my fucking rear under control and the E46 is a great handling car, especially on the setup i got, if I may add. Blew my mind, really.
Honestly i felt sick before watching the video, had a slightly bad stomache all day, but it got worse through the power laps. I felt every bit with Ethan...
@@BasuSatwik i agree with you . i can have so much fun with any modern car. 1 liter or not. i just love cars man still ethan is not some "normie" anymore he hung out with alex too much. his lap time was good
@@HR15DE truer words have never been said. I love driving Doesn't matter if its my a bit unenthusiastic 140hp Small SUV or our Companies really sluggish and truly slow Sprinters. Its in its own way fun to beat the sluggish diesel with a heavy trailer knowing your car towing has way to little power to pull this trailer
@@juki6377 Nono I mean, he should have started one round slow, and slowly getting faster. Instead of making him slam the gas from the very start on an unfamiliar car and track
It's great seeing just how encouraging and nice Alex is with Ethan. Imagine all dads were like that with their sons, the world would be a happier place...
“Your like a sh!t version of Ryan Gosling.” Made me chuckle that did. Is there anything better than taking the mick out of mates while enjoying a nice spirited drive!🤔🤷🏻♂️😜👍🏻
Nice to have you back to your regular scheduled programming. This is how you do sponsored content. Subtle. And I can relate to it. Not some rich guy that no one can relate to that lives in his own distortion field.
@@Tristancustombike maybe don''t look at the comments section until you've finished the video next time. The video was already 5 days old as of my comment, so I saw no reason as to why I should put a spoiler warning on my comment. if you look at comments before you've finished the video, knowing that there will be spoilers, that's your choice, you do so at your own risk.
Ethan is by no means a car guy in the slightest. He brought a convertible PT Cruiser to a sports car challenge. He didn't know how to do basic car maintenance until last year. And he frequently doesn't know what to do with the cars they do get. So...
@@chefcc90 him having a pt cruiser was clearly a joke to play up his "non-car guy" role in the group. They obviously knew what cars each other were getting beforehand and if he wasn't meant to buy a pt cruiser he wouldn't have had one
Congratulations Ethan! That really is an achievement. It's obvious this was way out of your comfort zone, but you concentrated, listened to instruction and improved your skills. It's also a good testament to the car and tyres on the N but I reckon most of it is down to Ethan's effort and investment in this challenge. Nice work!
I love that everyone is using Llandow now, since it means we can compare all the reviewers against each other ☺ Alex is about 2s slower than Steve Sutcliffe in the i20N, incidentally! That's not awful to be honest- Mat Watson in a 992 GT3 was slower than Steve in a Civic...so I reckon we need an Alex vs Mat track battle (we've had the drag race on his channel already...).
@@R03333 Relatively speaking yes, the gap will be smaller than on other tracks but the GT3 is still just faster. The Civic performance gets over-hyped too due to the Nurburgring time, since if you look at it on other tracks it's comparable to cars about 30s slower on the 'Ring. I don't think on any track over 250m long it can actually beat a GT3 ☺ It's still very fast of course, but a GT3 is another level.
What it proves is that this show isn't scripted and doesn't have 3 lads stuck together because of financial contracts. This is real fun and real entertainment. Well done lads, love your channel.
The whole “Ethan is not a car guy” doesn’t work anymore considering he has been solidly making car videos for 3 years now… They need a guest star.. the Gits (pretty much the opposite of the Stig)
We can't wait for our i20N to arrive! Keen to get started manufacturing mods, and working on the tune for them. Great video guys! If you're ever in Australia, hit us up!
No doubt the coached driver training would of helped. Also it's interesting the opinions about the rev matching between journalists and race drivers/ track enthusiasts who can hussel around a track. With most jurnos being like "I like to turn off rev matching so I can heel toe" While actually race drivers are like "great now I don't have to muck around with heel toeing so I can focus on driving" Difference is journals view heel toeing as something cool race drivers with skill do yet race drivers view it as an annoyance but nessarary action to avoid lock up when breaking and smooth/quick transition into a lower gear so it's ready to use as soon as you get off the brake and on to the throttle.
To be fair, ethan does seem like the kinda dude to.....play up the drama a bit, if it gets him some attention. I mean when they do those top gear kinda challenges he called alex's girlfriend and asked her to call and lie to alex and stall him. Which is funny, but eeeesh : p we all know someone like ethan, lots of us are even friends with a person like that, it's why it's hilarious to watch him in this position that all us car people would be eternally grateful for, and just kinda whine and simper and hand-wring his way through it lol
Watching this a year later and I found this really good…. quite informative too, since the slower N line car still has decent pace. It would be silly if the comparison involved a car with a 0 to 60 of around 14 seconds ……the standard slow car.
At first I was hating on you but after watching a few episodes I really like the format of your videos. “It’s almost a top gear knock off” is what I though but I was WRONG! These videos are really well done and I like the process of buying the vehicles.
Absolutely love this channel. Have for years but my word gents, the production / editing quality with the genuine personality the three of you have is truly next level. Giving TV a serious run for its money
I live Ij Korea, lots of those around, but it is called the “veloster” here. Also… hi un die is pronounced more like hyun (sounds like fun) day (with a weak y) :))
Would be cool to have two identical cars on track and time each other and then just upgrade ethans car each time and see just how many and what upgrades it takes until he is faster round the track than Alex.
Alex, “ I want to be Jeremy Clarkson” and Ethan, “I am James May”. Can’t we have something a bit more original lads. You’re now becoming a send up of your wanna be selves. What a shame. You started your careers with so much original promise. A pity…
It proves brotherhood makes us better. & to emphasise my point, ALEX, you are more proud than disappointed!!!! #everybodywins!!!!! #bestlife Thanks guys!!!
Nice to see that car manufacturers know whats up, this is effective marketing, ngl my dad asked what a good work car would be(he has a choice with a set budget) and hyundai is already great with the figures and them showing how fun their "standard" /slow car can be is defenetly attracting people towards their car
