Awesome reaction! I was thinki ng since you like grace vanderwaal you might like the singer aurora. Her songs are not vulgar or annoying. They are so peaceful. Maybe you could do a reaction. Heehe🎸🌠
Tracy Chapman is absolutely an INCREDIBLE artist. I know this is her most popular song, but damn near EVERY song she has put out has been utterly fantastic. Just beautiful.
The killer bit of the lyrics is what is not said. She paints a vivid picture of a whole life with such brilliant snippets. One of the most heartbreaking songs of all time. 100% guarantee I'm gonna cry.
I prefer the album version for the coda: Make a decision... Whoah! That cuts so hard in that version. She is delivering the last ultimatum. The upside is if he leaves her and their kids. Hope despite everything. I cry everytime I hear this.
When I saw the thumbnail for this video I thought I would be going into a reaction of someone who was being exposed to the brilliance of Tracy Chapman for the first time, but then you opened with the most amazing commentary on what a beautiful and talented person she is. Shame on me for not knowing better than to have preconceived notions. Thank you for this fantastic reaction.
Yeah I have to agree. One of the finest songs and songwriting I've ever heard! And here I thought Grace was the only singer that gets me to tear up. Wrong! Seems I had forgotten about Tracy. The thing that makes her so compelling is you just know that the lyrics are 100% real or autobiographical. Probably written when she was working as a check-out girl. She's not putting on any airs... And she's strikingly humble too. One thing about this song that always struck me is the way the lyrics race along double time over the top of that relaxed guitar melody. Absolutely unique and brilliant!
I’ve spent more time with this song than most and I’ve pondered all the aspects you touched on… the voice, the storytelling, just how incredible of an artist she is/must have been writing such a song at such a young age. Love it!
