A 15W charger bought 9 years ago, still serves me well. It had powered Xperia Z3, S6, S7, S9, and now, S22. Don't even remember when was the last time I used the in-box charger.

Thank you for taking up this issue given the madness around fast charging. It's beyond stupidity when manufacturers promote more than 60W chargers. All the points you mentioned here are valid. Given how much we are connected with our mobile phones, timeoff's or more mobile detoxification is needed. Rapid fast chargers do exactly the opposite. Google, Apple and higher end series from Samsung never give fast chargers.

65 W is the sweet spot. It creates a habit where you just need to charge the phone before going out. 30 minute to full charge. You can't just live without it. It's a good thing. Doesn't matter whether the battery life deteriorates.

All brands should give universal fast charging standards like PD and quick charge and type c. Otherwise there is no meaning of giving superfast chargers or just removing chargers from the box for the sake of environment.

I had realme x2 with 33w charger which charged in 40mins but gets discharged in 12hours , now i hv samsung 15w charger takes 1.5hrs but lasts for 1.5days. It would be more interesting if these companies use such fast charging technologies for EV motors. It would really help for green planet.

I think the 65 watt warp charger given by OnePlus with the OnePlus 8T was one of the best. It charges my OnePlus at 65 watt but also supports PD charging till 45watt. And i can use any type c to type c cable for charging. I am able to charge my Mac at 45watt and phone at 65watt using the same cable.

A day's power in half an hour, this was a brand's slogan some time back, and I feel this is actually the right balance. I charge my OnePlus 9 with the supplied 65W charger for ~40 mins in the morning starting from ~20% and ending at 95%+..... That's fast enough, and I feel safe enough also.

I completely agree with you! Great video ❤️ Average charging speed in this current scenario for our day to day life should be anywhere around 45-60W max. On top, if they provide any software system to Cap the speed based on User preference. There was a time, where Phone is capable of charging only upto 45W but the charger provided was 60W. Ultimately, if the software control or anything would have made, the phone could have used maximum 60W and min 45W depending on user needs. Manufacturer needs to implement such, so that user can use their phone for long period of time without damaging their battery life span.

Anything over a limit is poisonous.. and as you aptly said every brand should keep a benchmark limit between 33-67W(which are regular charging speeds at the moment) and should workout on a technology which helps the batteries last a bit more per charge 👍

Also, I saw a video which said that for fast charging you need the necessary capacitors and components inside the phone for fast charging, more wattage means larger the size of those components. If the size of these components increases that means you have to compromise with size of battery. Thats why generally phones with 120w charging come with like 4000mah battery or they have to be big in size. Also another point, just like fast charging, companies have gone overboard with camera setup. The 2mp macro and 2mp depth are absolutely useless and are present as a gimmick nothing else, honestly they aren't needed they just burden the setup. For ex. Instead of 64+5+2+2mp camera setup the company could give 64+12mp camera setup instead it would be useful. Companies should stop going overboard with these gimmicks

I guess the point which you mentioned that not everybody lives in AC house is absolutely correct as student I live in a rented room, and my phone during summer months gets so heated during charging that I literally feel like it's going to blow up. I have to put it in charging during early morning so that it doesn't heat up much. Also using phone during charging becomes really an issue if it starts to heat

am not able to install work profile on my 5yr old android lenovo K8 plus due to old version not supporting this work profile, is there any option to make it work on my phone? dont want to buy new phone just for this sake, but its gettign very difficult unable to have work mails etc on phone and to carry laptop everywhere due to this,

30W fast charging is more than enough according to me.... These 50-120w chargers will affect the battery in a longer run(2+years)...

I bought oppo a9 (2019 version) after about 12 days of its launch and it came with a 10 watt charger. Still my phone's battery is up to the mark and I can charge many other electeonic gadgets like smartwatches, earbuds, etc. with it which is also an advantage for me

One more thing, every product supporting fast charger should be PD or QC compatible that would make all products unified to be charged with a single fast charger. Afterall that's the point of removing charger from box.

While I agree with most of the things you said, mujhe nhi lagta, fast charging se battery cycle consumption pe farak padhta hai. Agar apka phone fully optimised hai, fir each cycle of charging should last the same amount of time. Agar apka phone 100% charge khatam karne me 24hrs lagata hai, then you will consume 1 cycle every 24hrs. How fast that charging is happening doesn't matter(as long as battery temperature is maintained properly).

I think output anywhere between 33-67 watts is more than sufficient. But Super fast charging like 120w or above must be used occasionally or in rare cases.

I have 3 identical phones in the house that support QC 3.0 fast charging. All came with 18W fast charger in the box. I always used a 10W charger while other two were always charged using 18W included charger. The difference in speed was at most 30 minutes which I didn't mind as charge happened during sleep. After 2 years I measured the battery health on all 3 phones (AccuBattery). I found that the fast charged phones had a deterioration of 30% (70% capacity) whereas the phone charged using 10W charger had a deterioration of 18% (82% capacity). All phones had the same charging behaviour, 5-10% to 100%. No partial charging in order to maximise the charge per cycle. The biggest enemy of Li-ion/poly batteries is heat. Heat dries up the gel/fluid inside, restricting electron flow between electrodes thus reducing capacity. Fast charging produces heat, even if it is for a short duration. If you're charging your phone overnight, best to use a 5W-10W charger. I even take the phone out of the case to facilitate cooling. 4000mAh battery takes 90 minutes to charge from 5% to 100% using a 10W charger. 5000mAh takes about 2 hours to reach 80% and another 20 minutes to reach 100% using the same 10W charger. 5 years later my phone still has 77% of original capacity.

I think as a college student I spend a lot of time in phone so anything less than 33watts is kind of slow but more than 33watts is too fast like we need some time without the phone too so having it for charge for few mins or 1-2 hours shall be fine as long as the battery capacity is good

I use xiaomi's 120W charger. Though usually I charge with a 10W charger, sometimes when I need fast charging I use the 120W charger, also we can limit charging speed by using a cable rated for slower charging. The charger also proved to be helpful for charging my laptop, also it helped that it came in the box. So, I am happy with this charger, but I also think anything more would be unnecessary.

Efficient charging is the key here. Even if the technology goes 300Watts that the thermal dissipation due to internal battery resistance and the total impedance is huge. So rather go with efficient charging systems

I think 33W charging speed is good enough. My phone supports 67W charging speed but I always use 10W charger because it doesn't gain heat while charging with 10W.

Fast charger is very useful thing specially when you run out of time. It's also very useful in remote or vilage areas where light often goes quickly. But still it's not necessary to charge on such high speed. I think 45-60W is the sufficient.

My samsung phone supports 25w charging which I enable may be weekly once to twice that's it. I have enabled 85% limit n switch on as soon I get up n by the time I leave phone is up to 85% that's suffices my entire day work. Yeah may be as you said 45w is minimum and max 60w not more than that really required.

As per my opinion and experience, 44W charger is more than enough for now as it won't cause much damage to the battery in the long run and it is safe also. Brands are just increasing wattage to attract users but the dark reality is that they are doing so only to reduce the life cycle of batteries. It has now become a dirty marketing strategy.

What you say in this video is absolutely correct , it's a gimmick In my opinion apple do need to step up in charging department, I feel phone should be charged in an hour or so by doing that it will be balanced. By the way difference between 25W charger and 45W charger is minimal according to different RU-vid videos that I watched. If your phone is charging in an hour and have a SOT of around 7‐8 hours in normal usage then I don't think anyone would mind that in contrast to a fast charge in less than 30 minutes and a SOT of 4‐5 hours. I would prefer a SOT of 7‐8 hours. And really one should understand that health is more important than anything and addiction to phone is the worst for your health nowadays. And one should take a 10 to 15 mins break if you are using your phone for more than an hour. Nice video 👌

The charger by default should charge at something like 24-30W. And on connecting should give an option to fast charge. If we want faster we can select otherwise normal charging will keep the battery safe and healthy for longer.

I was thinking that this video was going to criticise fast charging outright.However it was a very balanced take. I have gotten spoilt by the 65W fast charge on realme 7 pro makes my iPhone 11 Pro Max charging seem incredibly slow(I’ve kept the optimised charging on). However I do not let the battery fall below 20% and go above 90% unless I know it’s going to be a long day. The code for VOOC is interesting, it can be found on oppo-source public GIT repo. But prolonged usage has made me realise that 33W is probably the best charging number. Anything around that is perfect obviously provided the standby and SOT on your phone is good(as per your needs) . Otherwise the charging experience cannot cover a badly optimised phone.

I have OnePlus nord ce3 with 80w charger and an old onplue 7t aith 30w charger. So unless I am really in a hurry ai try to xharge my nord ce 3 with 30w charger. Or i insert the the usb port of 80w charges about 90%. So my phone get charges at a normal speed

I still use 10w charger, where my phone takes 2 and half to 3 hours to fully charge and I've got nothing problem with it and my phone is about 2 and half years old still my battery lasts long for 8 hours while net surfing (no gaming).I think about 10-20% of my battery performance has been degraded while compared to initial days of my phone 😀

45-65w was an ideal charging state. Even if my device gets charged in 30-35 min, then it would be enough for me.

My phone comes with fast charger , but I bought extra lava 12w charger, only in emergency I use fast charger 🔌, it remain cool while charging

I think wattage limit should be between 30 to 50. If a 5000 mah battery gets charged within 45 to 60 minutes I won't mind. I think it is fine and good for battery longevity.

I think the i phone’s 13 n 14 charging speed and battery backup combination is enough for most people 100-150w charging speeds are just being used as a marketing term by the brands
