Testing the limits of a Honda Pioneer-4 side by side utility vehicle at Uwharrie National Forest in central North Carolina. The Honda climbed a steep, rocky hill climb and handled awesome on a trail ride. I had ridden in several side by side UTV's in the past. I have ridden in Yamaha Rhinos and Polaris Razors for the most part. The side by side vehicles I have ridden in were more sport based over utility. So when I was invited to go riding in the Honda Pioneer - 4, I had to do it. I was absolutely blown away and impressed by what this Honda machine was capable of. The terrain in that part of North Carolina is notoriously rocky and hard to traverse . Its also a local hot spot for Jeep and buggy enthusiasts to come test their off road driving skills. Most of those Jeeps have crazy long travel suspension and aftermarket skid plates, brush guards, and gears set up just for conditions like this. The Honda Pioneer on the other hand is actually more of a utility focused machine with off road suspension designed more for work around the farm than for climbing steep, rutted out, off camber hills out in the woods. But as you can see in the video, it can do just that, with a little driving finesse. Its a very cool off road vehicle and I'm glad I got to go and see first hand what it can do.
