Deciding it's as much his time as Mr. Hand's (Ray Walston), Spicoli (Sean Penn) has a pizza delivered to his desk.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Amy Heckerling's adaptation of Cameron Crowe's Fast Times at Ridgemont High is often considered one of the finest films of a disreputable genre (the teen sex comedy), and kick-started the careers of many future stars. The center of this ensemble film is Jennifer Jason Leigh as Stacy Hamilton. She is a young, innocent high-school student who, as the film opens, is asking for advice from her friend, the sexually outspoken Linda Barrett (Phoebe Cates). Stacy takes a liking to nebbish Mark Ratner (Brian Backer), but he is too afraid to make a move even after Stacy all but throws herself at him. She eventually hooks up with Mark's more confident best friend, Mike Damone (Robert Romanus). When not concerning itself with these four characters, the film spends time with stoned surfer dude Jeff Spicoli (Sean Penn) and his ongoing feud with history teacher Mr. Hand (Ray Walston). The film includes brief appearances by such future stars as Nicolas Cage, Eric Stoltz, and Forest Whitaker.

I had a college professor that locked the classroom door. If the student was late he made the student apologize to the class for wasting everyone's time. He was one of the best professors. He was just like Mr. Hand. That was 30 years ago.. most of what he taught in the class has stuck with me, while other classes are long forgotten.

Am I crazy..or is it OK to say I think Mr Hand is a great teacher!! He doesn't put up with any bullshit, yet deep down I think he does care about his students. My favorite scene in the whole movie is when Mr Hand goes to Spicoli's house to have him make up all the time he wasted throughout the year. At the end he tells him that he'll probably "squeak by" with a passing grade and wishes him well. Hand is OK in my book!!

@ Yeah, there's this one kid named Chance in my Physics class. He's got long blonde hair, rides his skateboard to school everyday, nice guy. He's smelled like pot since middle school, but teachers stopped getting on his case once he got to highschool. They just let him basically do whatever. This scene is hilarious. I once had a teacher who would do the sort of thing Mr. Hand did: when a kid bought candy during a school day, Mr. Brown would take it away and share it with the rest of the class. So I ended up thanking my classmate Josh for the Hershey bar piece, and he just said, "Ah, shut up!" Ray Walston was perfect for this role, as with all his roles. Rest in peace, Ray and Taylor (the pizza guy).

@@jeffnelson2930 Underrated movie. Not for all tastes but I love it because it is so crazy. Aside from its story problems the behind the scenes work put into the movie is very impressive. The set design was very well done and even though the movies story is an acquired taste, the art of what went into that set design I feel should be more appreciated because it was very well done.

Spicolli ordered Double Cheese and Sausage. There as no Sausage on that pizza. Spicolli got screwed out of his pizza, AND sausage. It's a cruel, mean world.

The sausage was the thin type of sausage and it looked hidden under the cold hard double-cheese pizza with got cold by the time it got delivered to Spicoli but it was there.

Always great to watch a movie a few dozen times to pick up every nuance and detail. For example, pause at 0:00 for Stacy's insights into Damone. The good points and the bad points (one of which is "virgin?"). This is brilliant foreshadowing for scenes later in the movie. In 1982 , I didn't pause the VHS tape or laser disc to read Stacy's notebook. That was reserved for Phoebe Cates.

How were in he cliques divvyed up? My school had a rocker crowd, smart kid crowd, a group of un- describable misfits, jocks, preppy-ish kids, I think that covers it.probably more rock ' n roll partiers than anything else....most schools are not too different....I'm in Canada, eh

This was pretty much every high school in the 80s. A buddy of mine was 1000% Spicoli. Looked like him. Talked like him. Frustrated his teachers to no end. We DID used to order pizza in like this. Not to the classroom, but to the school's main entrance. Once word got around what we were doing, the school tried to stop it by making an announcement that having food delivered in was, "a violation of the national nutrition act." 😂😂😂 The tactic did not work.
