FAST trick to tie your laces tighter ! Reduce foot slippage, heel bobbing & loose laces

Did this to my 8 year old son’s skates and he noticed a significant difference right away, he doesn’t want his skates tied any other way now- thanks!!!

Tried that method in the past and didn't like it, gave more lace bite and made the ankles too tight

I don't remember when I saw that, but it is magic. I struggled to keep my balance on my skates, but this provides extra support and all my balance issues disappeared.

been doing this for my kids and I for the last couple of years, works great.

and... now your skates are like ski boots and have no forward flex. Do this a few eyelets down, and keep the boot tight below where you want to flex forward at the ankle.

Started doing this with my kid in mites at 8yrs old, and he never needed dad to come in to tie/tighten his skates again. As a beer leaguer with a bit of a belly, tying skates suck. This is massively helpful for me as well! Kid is U16 major now, and I noticed the other day he was still using this method. It works!

Been doing this combined with over/under for the past few months for the kids and myself. I basically get zero lace bite using this method as long as I don't tongue flop (at which point it's quite painful). The increased lockdown does reduce ankle mobility though so it's not for everyone.

It's always nice to see methods like this to try, I still like waxed laces tied really loose on the bottom and kinda loose at the top.

Why cut the part of video where he shows the double knot technique? It makes the 0:24-0:34 part irrelevant. It doesn't slip because of the double knot, not the little loops.

I don't get how people can tie their skates without checking once at least whether the tongue allows that forward leaning motion. You tie it nice and tight and then on the ice you are screwed because you can't lean into your skates properly.

IMO having a way tighter skate is sooooo much worse especially up top. It means that you just cant lean forward at all and i hate it

POV: you have figure skates

I started using a slightly different lacing. Simply going outside in on the top eyelet. It made a big difference. I don’t like the top to be too tight. I like a bit more forward flex. But if you leave it loose it works it’s way down the laces. This way you can keep the top tension just where you like it and not have that feeling that you have to tighten your skates. The method shown here is similar but perhaps even better. Just an aside... I heard RNH talk about Connor McDavids loose skates. He may have been exaggerating but he said that Connor could almost take his skates off without untying them.
