Typhoon Texas Earns Spot Among North America’s Most Attended Waterparks for 2016; West Houston Waterpark Only Newcomer to Make List
KATY, TX (June 8, 2017) - Typhoon Texas Houston is swimming in success, according to a new report tracking attendance at the world’s top theme parks, water parks, and museums.
The west Houston family entertainment destination is the only newly opened water park to be ranked among the 20 most-attended water parks in North America for 2016, according to the Global Attractions Attendance Report published by the Themed Entertainment Association and the Economics practice at AECOM.
With 440,000 visitors during its first year, Typhoon Texas ranked #15 among North America’s 20 most visited water parks. Total attendance from North America’s top 20 water parks for 2016 was 15.8 million, just eclipsing the 2015 figure of 15.4 million.
“It was a terrific first year and with several enhancements to the park experience, we’re looking forward to even bigger numbers this year,” says Typhoon Texas General Manager Evan Barnett.
Now open for its second season, Typhoon Texas has extended its hours (until 8 p.m. Sunday - Wednesday and 10 p.m. Thursday - Saturday), upgraded its movie night experience, added more free parking, installed additional shade structures and introduced a twilight rate of $25 after 5 p.m.
In addition, season pass holders can enter Typhoon Texas 30 minutes prior to opening every day. They also enjoy unlimited free admission to the all-new Typhoon Texas Austin.
