This backup method is very efficient and convenient. The automatic feature is ideal.

Many years ago I used to back up with a batch file and XCOPY. Then I used a batch file and Robocopy. Then about 5 years ago I moved on to FreeFileSync, which you featured a few weeks back. That gives far more flexibility and is what I still use.

Brilliant quck way to set regular/scheduled backups. Very similar to the rsync way in Linux and macOS.

Yes nice video but you'd want to overwrite the destination with latest files or last two.. else your destinations files up depending on backup sizes

Brian - as always, a very informative video. Why would you choose to have a Robocopy batch file to back up data to your NAS? I use Synology’s Drive Client on my Windows desktop to do copy/backups to my DS918+, but, unlike your batch file, it automatically copies any newly created files, changed files, or deleted files, etc, to my dedicated NAS folder, the instant the file is created, modified, or deleted. It is always running in the background, so I do not have the concern of data not being copied or forgotten etc. You did not explain why the Robocopy batch file method is supposed to be ‘faster’ than any other method. I always thought that the speed of data transfer was limited by the bandwidth of your internet connection. Again, I always have a lot of questions for you, and appreciate if you can answer any of them. Still waiting for the video where you show use how to do a bare metal backup of our system to a NAS. Do we have to create a different script for each folder? For instance everything in the Documents folder in one script then another script for everything in the Videos folder etc.

Whats the name of the program that displays the widget on the top right of your screen. The one where is shows your cpu name, disk space and cpu temperature ect.

May not need '@echo off' seeing that you are sending the output to 'robocopy-backup.log'. The '/REG' switch saves /R:n and /W:n in the registry as the default settings.
