One of the reasons I love this channel is because he keeps telling me how to get stuff easy even if It’s like the hardest thing to get in the game he’ll always find a way to get it in 1 day
It’s most likely controller players, Computer players have better mobility when gaming. Sadly for us Xbox players we have a sort of less mobility. I switch off cross-play when fighting, since I can barely sink one Computer player ship. Edit: Notice how it said *Sailing with Xbox players only*
I'm gonna jinx myself now, but that's all I seem to get too. My pal and I seek out PvP, we go days without sinking whilst running emissaries including reaper, then get sunk by skelly fleets lmao
@@greenavmshorts9335 I've played both and it's not the cannon/steering etc that's any different. Both systems are incredibly rate limited on motion for these things. The only difference is physically moving your player around, navigating the barrels or doing repairs. The PvP itself is fundamentally fair, it's a matter of learning how to take advantage. On the flip side most people on controller won't be very fluent as the movement is incredibly clunky and inconsistent, so if you do get that shit down you'll be clapping other pirates.
I had the best day in Sea of Thieves yesterday. Me and my friend were dumpstering everyone but then our equal match popped up. We fought for over an hour in an intense battle. We finally won when I was able to hold them off and take them out of bounds to blow up. So much fun.
@@cadendanoob5750 You have to go really far away, it’s possible to stay out of arena on some range. But sinking happens when you cross some specific range, not when you stay there for long
Just as a heads up: if you need reaper reputation, throw up the reaper flag, you will get reaper emssary rep if you take someone down, and you can either keep going or put you flag down and repeat
New player solo slooper here, I've fought in 10 hourglass battles and lost all of them. I don't feel like I'm improving in any way but I'll keep at it since I will never be content with this game until I have that curse. Thanks for the vid I think your tips are gonna prove useful.
@@Royal-xr7gt I've decided that the pain of never being content is far less than the pain of doing 5 hourglass battles in a row without landing a single shot. I did 36 hourglass battles total and the only one that I actually won was because the other ship gave up. I'm so incredibly bad that I cannot see any hope of improvement and have decided to spare myself from any more wasted time.
@@Royal-xr7gt I mean I landed good shots in a few of the rounds but after a while it just became miss after miss after miss. I’d practice on skeleton ships since they’re easy and unlocked all the bonecrusher ship cosmetics completely alone. I can sink a a whole skeleton fleet with my eyes closed and nothing but the starting supplies but god forbid I face another player.
Maybe a month or two, they will change it so turning in certain items to the factions will increase your lvl. So far, I know I suck at pvp but geez...I didnt know I was this bad. 2 hours and Ive lost every match. Boards my ship drop anchor, spawn kills me. While they continue to cannon ship.
For me personally I'm losing mine for a different reason Usually a mistake In steering, running low on supplies etc etc Boarders are dispatched fairly quickly.
Same! The skill based matchmaking will take a while to start to work properly I imagine, there's less variation in the beginning. Frankly I'm just not much of a gamer, I tend to fumble the controls when I'm panicking. Earlier I got a couple of shots off on someone, but they rammed me and boarded. I was trying to desperately get off the canon, but I must have accidentally opened the chat box, so I was just stood there typing 'FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF' whilst they calmly killed me 😅 I've tried practicing PvP before, but it always takes ages to find someone, and they always either crush me or run away / scuttle. Nice thing about this mode is it gives plenty of opportunity for improvement. I'm not even bothering to gather supplies to try to actually win fights atm, I'm just immediately jumping into matchmaking the moment the game loads / after I've respawned after losing. If I can just get better at positioning, aiming and fending off borders then I'm on the right track, no need to worry about actually winning for the moment.
Well, I am good at brawling hand to hand and pistols and such, but when it comes to canons, I am toast. So, they will just have to last longer than me at firing canons and sink me. If they board my ship, I will most likely defeat them. One reason to have a group when doing this. The problem is I do not know anyone.
@@davidkrapensits4367 and getting absolutely zilch for making one mistake, missing one shot, taking a fat loss gets you practically nada... It's unreal. I too thought I was semi decent at PvP before this update but now I'm level 100 I can't find a match where I don't get used as a carpet and walked all over
Fought too many players, who were Arena veterans, that constantly shot cannon balls over and over. I honestly can't match that kind of strategy, I wonder why some are saying this is the best update ever (or maybe its because they were winning alot lol). Honestly, this feels like fighting a difficult boss, except its players who know too many ways to sink you. XD
and to make it worse, there is no sbmm or mmr in hourglass so you only get sweats that dont know what grass is because nobody wants to play when you just get shit on 100% of the time
Great video, tha is for the tips as PvP is not my focus but this update has got me into it lol my crew and I like to call the tunnels the "currents of war" since they guide your ship to a fight
I hate pvp so I just bought the Skeleton costume, with the skeleton curse you can't wear your pirate gear thers only certain cosmetics you get from inside the reaper lair for your skeleton missed opportunity so I'll stick to the 10$ Sick ass Skelly Cosmetic with Red jeweled eyes
lol this man is a genius. Total clickbait. In short: the fastest way to earn allegiance is... JUST WIN. HE LITERALLY JUST SAID WIN STREAKS LMAO. That's it.
Yep. You can opt out of the pvp, so you have to win in order to succeed. I thought you just click the hour glass and you can just gain treasure, without having to worry about people spawning on you, but boy was I wrong. I was putting treasure on my ship from a ghost fort. I see a message of "be prepared for battle" or something to that extent and see a ship. I just did not care to do this and told them to sink my ship. That would put me out of the game and they get the treasure. I just want to grind up my 3 factions to level 50, to get Athena. Then grind that up. Then do reapers last. I guess I don't get a say on how this will go. Too bad too, I do want both the skelly and the ghost......LOL!
I disagree with having canons pre-loaded, you don't know what kind of shots you'll need to take before you get to the battle and having canons pre loaded has been the final nail in our coffin when getting a good first strike a bunch of times haha!
Ive been going at this since launch for 4-5 nights od the week for several hours. But after 100+, ive only wom 33 games because the only people i match are incredibly sweaty PC double gunners, and when youre on console you cant fight these losers. So im at a lost as to what i can even do at this point.
So to get the skeleton curse you gotta be rank 75 for reaper and rank 100 for servants? And for pirate curse you gotta be pirate legend and rank 100 for guardians?
I want the skelly curse SO badly, but I haven't done much PvP since arena shut down, so I'm really rusty, and it's extremely demoralizing to be at 63, and have a 50% winrate
I've fought only gold curse sweats in my solo sloop career. Haven't lost once yet, but it's getting sweatier by the minute. I like this new system, but it really hurts streaks on sloops since you start matching with piss ghosts/skeletons when you win a few fights.
@@loganmanske8932 You can force your opponent to forfeit by opting into the system in an unreachable location near the Shores of Gold. They won't be able to reach you without despawning their ship.
Welp my ship is called The Tutorial for a reason.... but if I ever sail on a galleon imma have fun with my ferryman cosmetics and the next people to fight my crew will see The Ferryman Reborn and have a fun fight
Everytime i try and fight people we never end up spiraling its just 40 minutes of back and forth and just landing 1 shot each, i dont get why it keeos happenjnv
yeah I feel this is kinda broken - not everyone has time or the skills at PVP to get the curses sadly. Rare needs to make a way you can get it through PVE.
I feel you, there are some players that just have insane skills and can take you down in seconds but the plus side is just by fighting you get points as well so even losing gives you something which is better than nothing.
@@greyfox4577 sadly the gameplay is very broken for a solo player. Game becomes a 2 v 1 and they continue to nerf weapons. That proves the issue and sadly only way to balance the game would be to have the system be setup this way. If you are solo the weapons you use do more damage and you are harder to kill vs 2 v 1. If someone joins you the system balances back out.
@@durabledabber5228 that is not true ive gone up against 2 players regularly on a sloop while i'm solo, i don't mind it as i like the challenge but the problem is this gives them an advantage.
I am reaper 73 but trying to level up reapers as a solo is impossible for me cause im not good enough to fight a servers worth of people. Last time i did it I had to fight two brigs and a sloop.
@@aimphantom7628 I’m my personal opinion, I think it does get harder but very slowly, but I personally don’t think it’ll get harder to level if it’s level 1000, because I think devs will have to balance it then
Last night I got destroyed ten times in a row (at lvl 8 flame) I'm a beginner yes but I'm good at video games generally and yet it's putting me against people who shred me within 60 seconds no exaggeration. I don't understand how I'm ever meant to get to 100... I got to lvl 10 after being destroyed over and over. Is matchmaking not skill based?
So looked up how to get the curse and it said you could do this or get reputation 75 with Reapers. Is this true, and if so, which is faster? I'm at reputation 13 with reapers and 2 with the servents of the the flames
Honestly I suck at naval shit so my plan is ram them with my boat and kill them till the boat is about to sink then get back to my ship and repair. Or as soon as it starts make my boat go In circles then shoot myself onto the enemy ship and sail him out of the arena zone. While spawn camping him. Seems to be the best way for me till I get better at shooting cannonballs. I just started playing so it's rough
I highly doubt it. It makes much more sense for this to be a permanent installation to Sea of Thieves especially considering that allegiance is a major factor.
The Loot thing was broke for our ship yesterday. We dove down for a match and then it resurfaced us after about 45 seconds and said matchmaking failed. Then we lost all our treasure it was all gone. They need to fix this for sure
Treasure only works if you're DEFENDING. It says so in the Trailer. Diving down is always the Aggressive Attacker. Each Grade you reach is 1k more Money. For example each Ship nets you 10k, Grade 2 nets you 12k.
No one is talking about the grind not only do you either have to be pirate legend and/or level 75 in reapers you then have to reach rank 100 in the PVP to be able to even access the hide out or the curse. And then another 100 levels to get the other curse And hide out. Even if you won every single PVP fight you ever played it's probably gonna take people weeks if not months to even get 1 of the hideouts or new curses
I really don’t think it’ll be that bad, considering there are commendations for hitting allegiance level 1000 for golden versions of said ghost and skeleton curse, but that’s also if one player sticks to one single side
@@ty_tgm right I just heard that today level 1000! Will anyone ever even get that high in the faction! Will any player actually ever make it that far! I dont think anyone will!
Its better to reset as When you have the 4th sink all you are getting at higer streaks are More gold and reseting from 4 helps you get faster matchmaking
I honestly don't believe that their is sbmm in hourglass. I'm not the best at pvp but I can stand my ground sometimes and I get in matches with people that are way way way better than I am.
@@gageivan544 yeah but nothing on insiders counts, I took part in all the S8 tests and even though someone told me they were doing a limited time progress transfer, nothing came through.
Fastest way to get it for non sweats like me that are awful at pvp? i keep getting non stop spawned killed, im on a 50 killstreak loss, i hate that they locked skeleton curse behind pvp...
Can anyone tell me what there is that you can only get through sinking/killing people? Like technically you could max out allegiance without killing anyone. What is there just for sinking people?
When you go for the hour glass, you are put into a pvp marking. That means, they spawn on you, if they are playing the event. You sink them, you get rep. If you want to do just treasure, you get rep. You can run, but if they are better sailors, you will get wrecked. You do not get a choice of canceling out the pvp while doing this event.
@@cainabel6356 Yes, I know. I don't want to run. I want to know if there are rewards you can get only by sinking ships, because I want them. Theoretically, you could get level 1000 without winning a single fight. I'm wanting to know if there are any rewards or titles tied to the amount of ships you sink or the streaks you go on. Know what I mean? edit: basically I'm wanting to know if theres anything i can grind for so I can flex sinking a lot of ships lol, like a legendary sea dog equivalent title
Ambushing people is definitely more fun caught two different reaper 5 gallies trying to sell their loot at reaper hideout with their pants down made over 200k off of them
I want both the skeleton and ghost, but I am Reaper 7 or 13 and I am still in the level 40s with my 3 factions. This game is not friendly to new players, LOL! This is just hilariously sad to me, but hilarious still.
