Excellent video! I am 54 and engage in IF. I watch what I eat ,run 3 miles daily 5x week and feel phenomenal. I find it amusing sometimes when people complain about not losing weight on IF and not understanding that you must be in a deficit. I also believe in doing what is sustainable I personally will not do 20/4 because long throat will be a problem and I will fail. I have a strong FH of diabetes.Hypertension and all the unwanted health issues so I need to stay on top! I am setting my notifications so I can follow this! Be well!

I like how concise this is. I remember the horror I felt when a “preacher” blatantly told his congregation that it’s okay for pregnant women to fast without telling them to first seek advice from a medical practitioner. Sometimes clergymen forget that the influence they have from the pulpit comes with a lot of responsibility. Let good sense prevail please.

I've been on 20:4 intermittent fasting for almost a year now. I started with 16:8 which was a little bit tough when I started. Now, I only eat once a day and I drink a lot of water. My weight moved from 85kg to 60kg the last time I checked. I feel stronger, healthier and I would recommend to anyone who is planning to start. I don't eat processed foods anymore. I stay away from sugar and I eat a lot of eggs.

As someone who is into the business of selling supplements and also following other doctors/nutritionists from the western world, it’s so refreshing to see our own, doing the same thing even better. Well done. Intermittent fasting has become a lifestyle for me and it has improved my health immensely. I wish some of our people can adopt this lifestyle hence there are so many people suffering from chronic illnesses nowadays

Thank you for clarifying, Doc. It's essential to know our calorie levels and how much of a calorie deficit we have. In my case, you're right about starting it slowly and then building up to 20:4 and above. It really does get easier and is so rewarding.

Hi @situ oreoluwa I may not be able to explain how to naturally gain weight but there's something called Body Mass Index(BMI). It has a formula which I can't remember now but the formula uses one's height and weight to determine if one is under weight, over weight or has a normal weight. I am thinking that was what the nurse might mean. You may want to read up on Google though. #Cheers

It’s easier to pile up on calories from juice . Before you finish peeling or eating an orange compared to a freshly squeezed orange (even if it’s not store bought or processed) the time is different hence can easily consume more calorie and more sugar. You also miss out on the fibre from eating the whole orange (which keeps us full for longer), hence you find yourself possibly eating less of the calorie compared to regularly juicing or drinking it rather than eating.

@tenanefaotu1065
@tenanefaotu1065 Год назад
An example: If you have your last meal of the day at 8pm and eat your first meal of the next day at 12 noon, you have fasted for 16hrs. It also means your eating period was 8 hrs. You get?
@abunwunemaureen251
@abunwunemaureen251 Год назад
@Tenane Faotu thank you. Does that mean that I will eat once a day?
@tenanefaotu1065
@tenanefaotu1065 Год назад
@@abunwunemaureen251 Most people eat twice a day. Even three times a day is possible. With 16/8, you have from 12 noon till 8pm in the evening to eat so you can definitely eat twice or thrice within that period. Just try and eat healthy (fruits, whole foods, more protein and less carbohydrates).

Been on this journey since 2022 and lost 21kg+. Continued fasting during pregnancy (my body was already used to it). Postpartum and breastfeeding now and I'm back on the journey doing 15-16 hours daily. In a few months, I'll be back to 20 hours of fasting. Food is just fuel for the body. My body fat gives me energy. When I fast, I use my body fat for energy, hence the weight loss. I believe every young adult should jump on this before our metabolism starts getting tired and we're no longer able to manage our insulin levels naturally

Intermittent fasting really helped me, I had HBA1C of 46 for more than one year and 6 months, and tried everything, to stop eating carbs and so many things, it went down to 43 and came back up to 46. I started intermittent fasting with a 16 -8 gap at first in January, by the 16th of March my HBA1C level went down to normal i.e. 39. it really worked for me and I was intentional with it, it wasn't easy at first but I got used to it, eating fewer carbs balancing my meals with lots of veggies and protein, and drinking lots of water. now I do 12 - 12 but not religiously. but my diet is still important and balanced...no processed food or sugar. I need to maintain that.
