You did very well on that interview, James. Maybe I am being a pessimist, but to me, it felt like the interviewers were trying to get you to say what they wanted you to say, which could have had negative outcomes for you, but you didn't let that happen. You were friendly, professional, and sincere about your responses, you answered their questions with what you wanted to say.
Yea, instead of getting quality content out of him they wanted to get something outrageous that will get views. I get it, it's a business but they're putting it on way too hard.
congrats, you finally realize how the media works. They don't give a shit to inform you, they want dramma, especially the fake one. Just to keep existing.
You walked into a set up and danced through all the traps. Very well done! Susana was trying to bait you so hard but you kept serving the reverse uno card 👏👏👏
Omg what a blast from the past!! I remember watching the videos of you with your backwards cap on, omg. So glad I'm still following you James, you've helped me more than any other trainer out there. This is all I want, information backed by science presented to me in a palatable way and your personality is the icing on the cake, much like cardio! Yes I watch all your videos religiously 😂
James, you need to be held up as a beacon of honesty in this time of lies and BS. 'Eat less move more' simple really but you're giving us the facts we need to hear. Keep it up.
@@vaguepepper4028the majority of people in the world walk in much worse conditions and you upset that the richest western country is the world is bad for walking? How come half the population is healthy then, trust me you can’t be fit with exclusively gym
You presented yourself very well, professional, not a 'push over', you made good points in a firm but kind manor. Anyone upset at this just proves there will always be soft people allergic to discomfort of any kind who can get upset at anything. The truth is they are upset at how they feel when you give them a dose of reality instead of feeding their delusion.
@@zafferung4440 That's not true at all. Where did you come up with that notion? Insecure people can certainly call you soft to deflect from their own problems sure, but that doesn't automatically mean calling someone soft means you're deeply insecure. Correlation does not mean causation.
@@zafferung4440 If you're mildly triggered by the notion that i could insinuate that people in general, not anybody specific, are soft. Then YOU sound soft, see the difference? Also you are right, i am insecure about certain parts of myself, the difference is i own it and work towards fixing it, i don't shy away difficulties or deny their existence, i embrace it. It's only failure if you stop trying.
At the start of last year I was very fat and 19 stone. I got myself some kettlebells changed my eating habits and now weigh 13st 5lbs. I still have a lot of body fat but through my changed eating habits and continued kettlebell exercising things are changing slowly. It's only "you" that can change your eating habits and exercise regime. I've been called fat most of my life and am now 53. It's channels like this that offer advice that have really helped in me changing my way of doing things.
He was diplomatic, not politically correct. Being politically correct involves distorting language in order to avoid difficult issues. Shaming people only works when that person is taking the piss with stupid behaviour. James made himself very relatable to Piers and Suzanna with the "not putting on a stone over xmas is doing xmas wrong". We're all human and we wall love a good bit of food so there's no need to be a dick to people about it. The main job of being a PT (I speak from experience) is to encourage people to work out and to find a healthy mental balance with their food and to accept that they are human and to curb their expectations.
Hey James, could you do a vid on creating content. Like tips on talking to a camera, planning, delivery etc. Love the vids man, you’re one of the realest guys in this space.
This was an excellent depiction of how to handle being diplomatic enough to be aired on tv, yet staying true to your beliefs. Well done. Will be checking out the rest of your youtube channel, and hope it is far less diplomatic yet filled with useful information
Love ya James!! I've been going to the gym for 2 months but somehow getting fatter. Been doing calorie controlled diet for 2 weeks and same ammount if exercise and already seeing results after 2 weeks. Using my fitness Pal app , so thank you xx
Great post. I hadn’t seen that interview before and my goodness, Piers Morgan agreed with you multiple times. 😮 As for spinning, it’s neither hear nor there isn’t it? Just do something everyday, doesn’t matter what it is but if it puts a smile on your face at the same time then that’s a BONUS!
This was almost the perfect interview, textbook. You could tell that despite all of their assumptions, they enjoyed the interview and liked you immensely. This was a lesson in economy: you said just enough and no more. Brilliant.
Handled yourself well there. You can almost hear the producer in her ear trying to get you to fat shame in some way. Anyone else have the involuntary reaction of saying ‘what a cnt’ every time they see PM’s face?
Spinning is good fun, I've even taught a few classes myself, but the key is finding a form of exercise you enjoy and sticking to it. Nice interview though, I enjoyed it.
I am currently overweight (again) but i completely agree with what you said its basically eating more food than you can burn off , the amount of people i have trained with and the excuses are just ridiculous
you are one of very few people who will tell things how they are to people and i do agree with James on the topics that have been spoken here, it's very sad to see people now taking the easy way and not actually putting any effort into excercise and just becoming lazy about excercising by using things like peloton rather than getting on a pushbike and actually cycling outside in the fresh air rather than using a stationary bike on a zoom call with people you don't know and pedalling but going nowhere, it's basically a treadmill in pushbike form but from the comfort of your own home rather than actually going outside and using their own bikes that can go to places locally without the use of a car.
Not sad at all, people live different lifestyles some people are busier than others some people have more reason to be at home to others, the fact they have still purchased that bike or treadmill for their home is something within itself. Not everyone wants to ride a bike down a road in the freezing cold and pissing down rain.
I found your channel from this new YT algorithm posting video from content providers I've never heard from or knew you were successful. I subscribed as I liked your straight to the point no BS David Goggins style without the extreme I'm the muts nuts the baddest on the planet, and being a Brit bonus kudos. Good on you for not doing a Nick Griffin on TV, by using your intellect to compliment and then guide them to a better version of themselves. Weight loss is a huge mindfuck! it is as simple as calories in v Calories out, but our minds make it complicated by looking for the path of least resistance! I'm on that path, lost allot 30kg, put on 15, now lost another 5, up down etc.. A constant battle of the mind which will probably go on forever, but one you can't stop trying.
It's so interesting how they set you up to be contradictory or offensive to soup your name all so they get views. It's no wonder so few have faith in the media anymore. Very well handled 😂
love your content, I bought my fiance a peloton as its difficult to get out to the gym with a little one and the instructors help to gee her up, as much as u hate them, it is a good but of kit, however, nothing compares with getting out in the open air and training. I'm her PT at home, she doesn't know what's coming round the corner 😅
Well played sir, well played! So many traps and you avoided them so brilliantly. And what you say is absolutly right, expecially the comparrison with the dog. Brilliant. I would love that more ppl would be honest while beeing kind and friendly. No need for insulting them at all.
Your channel is underrated so much I do not understand how you do not get millions of views on your content but yet all the juice head influencers who cannot even bench press correctly do .this world ay
The problem I had was that after maximizing my calorie deficit, my body got used to it, and instead of losing weight, my body was turning down functions like the temperature, so I was feeling cold and tired all the time. I ended up fixing my diet afterwards. I wasn't fat but I was trying to lose more weight without adding more exercise, just by eating like 1400 calories a day... not the best option!
Everything this man says is true. This is only the second time I've been exposed to James and its true. 4 years ago I was incredibly over weight and 'nothing ever worked' I was very active but thought that meant I didn't have to watch what I was eating. I lost over 50lbs in the space of 6 months the minute I forced myself to pay attention to what was going in my gob and live in a calorie deficit. Going to the gym, Eating cleanly and then a couple of sporting activities a week. When you do this you will lose fat and also understand why you put on weight in the first place. Personally I saw food as entertainment and if I was bored, I'd eat. Its also incredibley important to think about it as losing fat and not losing weight. Once you've lost a decent amount of fat, you may start weighing more as you continue to build muscle. reshaping the narrative of weight loss is important as the minute you see the number on the scales going up its disheartening.
I am team spinning, but I am also a mum who works 40 hours and has 2 kids but I also mix my workouts up, i walk my dog and i get my steps in. Miss lifting weight but buggered my elbow up. You did so well in that interview! haha!
As for Peloton, although I don’t have the Peloton brand bike I do enjoy being a member and use the app. Yeah hill climb is not a hill but it gets you sweating and breathing hard so that’s what matters for cardio. Do whatever motivates you and you will stick with it
Hi James, love the channel, very informative. I have a question regarding skinny fat people, otherwise known as ‘Hardgainers’. Would your first approach be to lose the extra fat you have or to have more calories to build the muscle you don’t have? Thanks mate.
similar body type guy here. what id advise if you're starting out is eating maintenance calories and lifting, you should be able to gain some muscle and lose fat for a while. it will get tricky and when you notice your lifts start to plateau, you make a personal decision of whether you'd rather gain a bit fat and gain a bit of muscle ("bulk") or lose a bit of a fat and lose a bit of muscles ("cut") first. there's no "right way" , it's an individual choice.
