Website Version - superbestfriend... Spooky Fact - In the land of the rising sun, and want to take your family to a fun and exciting destination? Why not visit the gorgeous suicide forest? Intro by: lord-phillock.d...
I remember telling my friends once about the scariest game I ever played as a kid. I said it was this game where you play as this Japanese kid and take pictures of these horrifying demonic entities. I think it was called Pokemon Snap?
+kruaser123 I thought it was Dead or Alive Paradise. You took pictures of their devilish cleavage and send out gifts to make them your waifu. The Japanese kid was actually a black man.
the real reason why its a shitstorm is because Matt and Pat just shit a storm on Woolie. When you think about it, they always shit on Woolie, therefore the shitstorm never truly ends.
+MetroAndroid I feel this game does deserve a full LP, especially considering how good it actually is in comparison to it's horribly shit reviews it has recieved
I'm consistently impressed with Fatal Frame's ability to take potentially scary imagery and ideas and make them completely impotent and even unintentionally hilarious.
there should be a fatal frame game where the ghosts only attack you from behind so you have to keep taking rad selfies with the ghosts to exorcise them and i dont know what im on about.
Yo, Thanks both you all. Was just thinking about this. I also thought the hair was related to the idea of Kegare where it is unkept and everywhere in a kind of filthy display, like it is tainted.
+Your Next Line is During shitstorm3 they said they didnt have many spooky games left to play [that would make a good video], thats why they played 3 games for a week each. I guess some of us wish they did the same this year, with this game, soma and idk what , but on the other hand it gives exposure to games I'd never heard about. EG : I'll probably buy Layers of Fear during Steam winter sales
TakkV2 True, though I wish some of the good games were full LPs rather than one shots. At least more than Dangling Grandpa. I really did like the Shattered Memories play through.
I know no one really cares, but house plants are awesome for purifying and freshening the air in your house, especially good if you have a room that often gets stale.
Why are the sexy ghost girls always the most dangerous. If they didn't want us to bother them, why are they being so sexy !? Technically its their fault
I've been feeling horrendously depressed all day and nothing was helping until I opened this video and heard Matt say "Fame of Fratals" and now I can't stop giggling like an idiot. Conclusion: Shitstorm is the best anti-depressant.
+Harotham LOCALIZATION! Where any intern, secretary, girl from the coffee stand, or guy in the mailroom can voice a character. Maybe sometimes it works out, maybe sometimes it doesn't.
I would LOVE to see Matt and Pat do a full let's play of this game. I agree with Pat that it seems to be an easier story to understand and is enjoyable to watch!
I was literally just playing this a few days ago at a friends place. A couple of things -Fucking Tecmo you make the hottest/cutest girls with Final Fantasy levels of fashionista. Goddammit Goddammit why are you guys geniuses in waifu-creating Goddammit. -This game implies Water is evil, *IT'S. VERY. SUBTLE. IN CASE. YOU DIDNT KNOW.* -For anyone who has gotten to the Doll House, you know. Fuck that place, fuck that place SUPER HARD. otherwise this game is definitely more combat focused than the other 4. It's still pretty spooky. The backgrounds look decent next-gen but the character models look amazing. Pretty good game though, gives me a nice breath of fresh spooks compared to the 1st-person horror extravaganza. I give it 4 Liams getting scared of Big Butts out of 5.
The long hair in Japanese horror, according to extensive research on wikipedia, has connotations with death because women traditionally grew their hair long but knotted it and it was let down for their funeral. I don't think they could use it like a Stand though, I'll need to conduct further study.
Hmmm. So the East has elbowed its way into the Shitstorm huh? Think I'll actually sit through the entirety of this Shitstorm vid. If only for the Kawaii Factor...
"What is it with the Japanese fear of long hair?" Long hair can imply a lot of things, but mostly decay. Obviously in both Japan and the west very few people let their hair grow past their shoulders, and fewer still let it go even further, so to have a character with long-hair in this setting tends to imply something is wrong. So, yes, "Why does it gotta be that long?" is sorta the reason.
There's a movie called "The Forest" coming out in 2016 based on Japan's suicide forest. I wish they have documentation of actual people who went into the forest as a type of intro. I hope Woolie is in that documentation segment, circling around with arms wide open: "WHATS UP, BITCH ASS GHOSTS!?" Then the background of the forest does the JoJo thing with the japanese "menacing" word floating all over the place
This series is so odd to me. I can recognize some aspects of it have merit as horror, but the jiggle physics and super fetishistic outfits of the main characters are not conducive to a scary experience.
We see a lot of sexualization of females in western horror too though. Shower scenes, revealing outfits... It's common in horror and while it takes away from the experience for me, doesn't seem to do that for many others it seems.
When I think "survival horror" I think SHUTTER CHANCE, ZERO SHOTS CHAIN CRITICAL OFFENSIVE DEFENSE COMBO x59 Also, the way that girl feeds you game mechanics is nothing short of graceful. This is narration at it's finest. Remember Silent Hill 2? "James, you can swing your pipe fastly or strongly if you push the action button. Some objects are invisible to the naked eye, remember to shine you flashlight on them... now go look what's behind that barricade."
I can't help but find a little funny that back in the channel's heyday Matt's gimmick was being like "Fuck yeah, AMERICA! USA #1!" and now he's just all "yeah, eh?" and "kraft dinner" all over the place.
Imagine a cast of Fatal Frame characters, working their way through a haunted house, fighting ghosts, and in the end it was all Josh's elaborate prank.
+The Samurai Cop you do realize pokemon snap was pretty much an on rail shooter right plus pokemon fails miserably in the hot asian girl's department XD pokemon's for scrubs
+Ookami inazuma "Pokemon fails miserably in the hot asian girls department" Bitch, have you SEEN half of those characters? Hex Maniac still stands today as one of Japan's most perfect waifus. 10/10 would be spooked by.
+DennisJ (The Last Methbender) I want a comp of all the times Pat assumed something out of thin air, and later finds out that he was wrong, so he back peddles or blames something. Imagine that fucking shit!
About the hair thing in Japan... Traditionally, ghosts in Japan are angry and vengeful and out to murder your face; these ghosts are called yurei(much cooler than most western ghosts). Japanese women used to grow their hair very long and keep it pinned up; it would be left down for their burial and everyone was buried in a white kimono.
To be fair the village from Fatal Frame 2 had a pretty good reason for their crazy ritual with the demonic hell mouth in the middle of the village. Than again, why would you build your village on top of a crater to hell.....
At about 44:55, the note says that the girl went to the police and they said "She was probably just spirited away." Is that a legit answer the Japanese police can give if they don't want to work a missing person's case? "Nope, last time she was seen was in an ancient temple. Clearly she was spirited away. There's nothing we can do." It's the Japanese equivalent of "We can't search for her until she's been missing more than 24 hours."
I don't think it is a Japanese obsession with hair per se as much as it is a recognition that a lot of Yōkai seems to involve bewitching women like the Futakuchi-onna or "two-mouthed woman" who conceals a second devilish mouth at the base of her skull and can use her hair to manipulate objects.
+RoboHoundGames It's called a garter. Mostly they're used to hold up stockings, but this variety serves no function other than fashion, and no, it's not some obscure Japanese thing. They've existed for a really long time. Mostly you see them in movies with strippers. Old timey hookers would wear them, too.
''Say Woolie 3 times infront of a mirror at midnight and you'll grow Medusa dreads'' On a side note...why would you run away from those ghost girls. Check out that ghost cleavage! Monster Monsume anyone? I've never played Fatal Frame...are the ghosts always this lewd....?
+Enzo Matrix They've gotten progressively sexier since the first game- oh wait no they haven't. Actually this is the first fatal frame game in which I've seen such sexy ghosts lol
+Cheryl Lim Yeah, before this game there was far less fanservice and it was limited primarily to the main characters. Here even the ghosts are heavily sexualised and have jiggle physics...
Also Pat, I don't wanna hear you give lessons on Japanese pronunciations when I just rewatched the Yakuza 4 LP and you were saying things like Ackeeyamma, Madjema, Sadjema and Hairuka :| Japanese vowels are pronounced mostly the same as in Spanish, so for example A would be "ah" and not "ay" (it seems to be your default to pronounce every A as "ay" I noticed), and stressing the correct syllable is mega important, so you're right about this game's pronunciation of Ha-ROO-ka being wrong and it should be HAH-roo-ka, but not HAIR-oo-ka like you've been saying even though it's likely she's been turned into a spoopy hair ghost.
I love how Pat criticizes a character's pronunciation of the name "Haruka," only to pronounce it far more incorrectly himself in the very next sentence (and throughout the playthrough). I guess it's intentional?
38:18 I love how fucking bent they are getting over sailor moon... again... I still feel awkward having never seen it and not knowing the depths of their investment.
Please don't ever stop making Kung Pow references. I love it! :D Even without having attractive women in impractically sexy outfits, this game looks pretty good. Thanks for showing it to us. :)
I've always wanted to watch the Fatal Frame walk through's/videos but I've always been such a baby back bitch I would click away within the first two minutes of any video. But with you guys I was able to actually watch the whole thing. you guys make it easier to watch for us scaredy bitches. thank you, you guys rule.
I've gotten to a point where I've seen so many spooky ghost girls with long black hair, that the cliche makes me feel physically ill from how over-used and trite they are.
I got so tame of it that now I find them attractive and I'm sure everyone else is the same way. It's like: "Holy shit a long haired ghost popped out at me , wait are you single? xD"
This brightness adjust screen with the ghost made me think: how hilarious would it be if a horror game developer threw a jump scare in there? You're adjusting the slider, squinting your eyes to tell if you're at the right brightn--*BAH*! This one's free, do it!
