This music really fit the scene, giving Heroic Vibes to Shinji as he puts his strongest AT field to stop the Angel. All while Asuka and Rei try their best to kill the angel. It also captures well the scale of this fight. Is probably the only fight in the whole 4 movies that the three children fight togueter.

I really do like how the lyrics reflect shinji’s stressed mental state as he was fighting alongside asuka and rei. this scene in particular is genuinely special since it’s probably the only instance we get to see shinji, asuka, and rei properly working together as a team. rebirth’s movies as a whole are just fantastic and 4.0 is literally the greatest thing ever

Say what you want about the rebuilds, but one thing that they really helped with was giving some Angels another chance. Sahaquiel in the original was cool, but the fight wasn’t as good as her siblings. But rebuild Sahaquiel made her look incredible and had one of the best scenes in the series imo. And that theme….👌

I was searching for this song for ages because I had watched 2.0 and it was in my head. I thought it had played in the fight against the 10th angel so when i checked Fate on the wiki and saw it was played in the fight against the 8th I assumed it wasn't it. Anyway I go on youtube to find a playlist so I can check each song better and I accidentally click this one, I decide to listen for a bit just in case and it turns out it's the right one, got lucky I guess lol

Last time I was on this video I saw someone claim they thought this was a leftover from Bleach or something like that, but I greatly disagree. the track's prod. code is 09-44; This means this is the 44th track SAGISU made in 2009. The last Bleach movie made at that point in time was Fade to Black, which came out in 2008, and was in production before then, so he DEFINITELY didn't produce this track for B:FtB, and if he really wanted to use it for Hell Verse, he could've just used a different song for this scene. They cited the lyrics as "being just like ___ character" but like, being anxious about the future isn't a concept inveted by Bleach, it's a pretty common concern for anyone to have, let alone a fictional character. By that logic, it also fits Shinji in EVA2.0, as well as this scene. The lyrics are so vague and easy to relate to, I don't belive it was made specifically with Bleach or Evangelion in mind for the lyrics, but only Mike (Shiro's lyricist) can say for sure. It's not like the 3.0 tracks Ultimate Soldier (1125) or Betrayal (SD2_53) being leftovers from Berserk, where people suspect that because of both the date they were initally composed and the lyrics themselves drawing fewer paralels to EVA as a whole and more to Berserk. Anyway, I love this track. It has a sentimental connection to myself, as when I first it, I resonated with the lyrics, only did moreso as time went on. However, my connection it is even greater seeing as this was the first song from SAGISU I had ever heard. It used in a mashup with Mothra's theme from Godzilla Tokyo S.O.S I believe, and I immediately tried finding the original, but couldn't as the video simply credited it as "Evangelion 2.0 Soundtrack". Once challenged myself to try and replicate this track on a MIDI, and though I still haven't, I might someday. Somebody else in these comments pointed out the composition feels almost like fate itself having highs and lows, but you can't tell what's next, and the percussion is like time marching forward, and I have to agree, I even feel this is amplified with the use of a tubular bell, which invokes imagery of a clock tower; an ever present reminder of our limited existence, urging us to make our destiny worth it! A pretty cool interpretation, and it shows how SAGISU uses presets to ingenious results! I usually like to listen to Shiro's work separated from the other tracks or the IP, and this is no exception, but I do think this song serves as a great companion piece to the track previous in the soundtrack, Destiny (0938). One is more contemplative and angelic, while the other urges us to forge our future in the heat of conflict! As time's gone on, I've come to appreciate this track more and more with the more I learn about Shiro. From the subtle use of a Yamaha S-YXG-50 Synth to accompany the strings, and Stylus Madrid snare loop to accentuate the feel of a battle march, the performance given by Shiro's special choir; it's all so perfect!! I thank this track for introducing me to Mr. SAGISU's work, and by proxy getting me into music production, and so much more! Thank you for sharing it with the world, S2P; the world needs more ears on Shiro's music! 🤘
