Tamamo-No-Mae is essentially a higher being that was enamored by humanity and wanted nothing more than too understand them, but fell pray to the darkness in their hearts and fell to a dark rage. In truth all she really wanted was the love they had and was willing to dedicated herself to it completely even if she had to wait a thousand years for it to be. In the end she got her happiness, but at the realization that sometimes darkness and secrets are not the way to maintain it.
As one who is Tamamo lore nerd, I have to say that you did a fantastic job on researching her background in Nasuverse. Very little details missing and most of those are some obscure stuffs so I'll just list them here as additional stuffs, your vid got the major things right already: - The MC of Extra made sure to note that Amaterasu is not a divine spirit, but something more evil. This is allude to the fact that divine spirits are remnants of the ancient gods when the age of gods is over, and the Amaterasu he met in CCC is a living deity of extreme power, so at this point we actually don't know what exactly is Amaterasu, that is crazy. You will notice this reference for Tiamat's true form in FGO as well. - Going back even further, Amaterasu first possessed Daji in China and caused the most famous story of a harlot in Asia. Then she went to India and posed as Lady Kayo - the consort of the cannibal king Kalmashapada, caused him to eat his own family. Then she went back to China and became queen Bao Si, causing yet another ruin for this country. Finally she went to Japan and Tamamo was created. This is why both Amaterasu and Tamamo's designs are fusion of Indian, Chinese and Japanese motifs, with her magic being a combination of Buddhism and Shinto and her being revered as the deity who rules over leylines in ancient Feng Shui and guarding the energy of the dead (Yin energy). This also the reason for why her NP can revive the dead upon full power usage. - Because of this mutil culture connection, Tamamo is considered a Dakini-ten, which later worshipped in Shingon Buddism as equal to the ultimate Sun Buddha Vairocana and Amaterasu herself. Pretty much she is a buddha, making Twice the only Master who coincidentally summoned 2 Buddhas as his servants (lol). That's it! Good job!

Poor Tamamo! 😭 Her backstory made me cry for literally 5 minutes straight! I wanna give her a big loving hug because she has done nothing wrong & she didn’t deserve to be sad & killed like that! 😭 This poor girl needs lots of love! ❤️

I first got to know Tamamo by playing Extella on my computer, now she's the first servant I got to level 100 in Link. I have watched this video before already and kinda struggled if I liked her or Nero more (ultimately chose Tamamo). Now that I'm rewatching it and thinking back on the story of both Extella games, I legit got massive goosebumps... One of my absolute favorite servants in the entire Fate franchise.
Its okay I was a bad girl and watched it anyway *laughs* Really good, taught me a few things I didn't know (I always thought the split from amaterasu was the split into being a human, I didn't know tamamo was worshipped as herself (Or if she was it was from her time as a "human" being legendified, so to speak). thanks for the video! I picked her in EXTRA because I was thinking it was going to be the hard mode but then I was enamored with her character and learning her backstory makes the love stronger!
man Fate really makes me switch my feelings for characters....... I hated her in Fate/Extella for her sadism and lust for power.... but after learning her story I can't possibly blame her for anything :( The same situation happened after I learned Medea past :(

A Heroic Spirit who in life was abandoned by the people the were helping and ending many lives. Nero as a tyranical emperor of Rome, Emiya as a Counter Guardian and Tamamo no Mae as the Killing Stone. Maybe its that fate that brought these three together. Seeing them hang out in FGO or in a Anthology is a lot of fun. These three are practically inseperable.
Wow i think i'm a Tamamo fan now... I played the Fate Extra Psp game with Nero once (well i also played Extella games but they weren't based on a single servant master relationship like Extra) without Tamamo route. When Fate Extra remake gets released i'll definitely play Tamamo's route

I have a 3 hour trip by car that I have to make every 2 weeks. I love turning on these lore videos during that drive. The stories are always fun, and your story telling voice is comforting to listen to.

dint like the game enough too learn more about her but ive always had a certain "interest" ; p so decided to look up more info. seen a good bit of the anime too. 10/10 waifu, she just wants to be a good wife. Robert Tambascio Morderd without a doubt would probably bark him up and down a wall at first. But there is a side of Shirou that cannot be described as nothing but Badass. Especially if it's a Shirou that throws away his ideals for his own personal gain (Miyu/HF routes). But that aside, she would probably listen to his every order anyway. Shirou has the ability to make certain people follow him. I wouldn't call it the "King's Calling" but he brings people together through him. They will end up becoming very close. That I am sure of. Discarded ideals Shirou= Servant level. Heroic Shirou= one who tries to sympathize with his enemies. He is weak willed in this form. Now either Shirou is ok with me to be honest as long as they can have a route together.
Sad to say she's not a fox but instead, she's a freaking jackal! She even confirms this in Fate/Extra but she prefers to be called a fox by the others because she thinks it's cute.. I also still remember there the 2nd chapter of the game in which there's Dan and his servant Robin Hood. It's hilarious to see them both throwing insults and calling names to each other. Caster even tries to see if she's compatible with him but disregards it because of his cocky attitude and arrogance. Well, that was already a long time ago when I was still playing that game.
Tamamo-No-Mae, my Waifu for Lifu🦊 She was seen as different and because of that she was hated and killed, I can relate to being hated because of me being different. Poor innocent girl, she just wanted to be loved by the people If I ever summon her, I would treat her as the Foxy Goddess she is I would create a new religion solely around her and do anything she says, fulling all her(sometimes sexy) desires It’s just, her tail is so fluffy; it’s oddly hypnotic, like it’s calling me to her side... Nothing she did was wrong🥰
Im happy that you done a lore of Tamamo-No-Mae. She one of my favorite servant/waifu of the fate universe where she was the 1st servant of fate/extra that I chose. Still she has a sad story for an inocent girl who just whant to be love.
What can I say of my favorite Fate character? Well there is the fact that I known of her before I knew what the fate series was. I used her as my avatar in the past never knowing anything about her. May she find happiness someday at last.
You somehow turned her dark and mess up past into a "happy go lucky whatever moment " with the way you told the story and the tone of your voice lol. You were a lot darker when you did past servants compare to tamamo.
Ouch. Being blamed for something you didn't do, and dying alone, unloved, and for nothing. That is a terrible way to live, and die. That out of the way, she's my favourite character in the whole series, and the person I wanted to get in my Chaldea. (I admit I lucked out. I was saving my quartz for this October banner. She showed up during the Caster class banner. In 3 tickets.) She's also the main reason why I played through Fate/Extra. (Funnily enough, the next game I played after finishing that was Okami.) I think she might actually enjoy watching Doctor Who. I'd definitely want to be there for her. There is one question, though. If she were summoned by a little kid, would she try to act more like a mother, or a childhood crush (she's got the Morph skill to pull the latter off)?

uh you had me till the end. the stuff about hakuno being deleted and tamamo growing 9 tails just to save him then turning back into 1 tail, was that part of extella's story or ccc? cause i only ever played extra and part of extella.
While you're right he didn't make a distinction-technically, the path she saves him or her (Hakuno) on is the extra path. I can't remember exactly but, I'm pretty sure all servant endings of CCC have the CCC servants saving the extra! version of Hakuno. (Well, aside from Archer who doesn't save them persay. lol) So even though it is the CCC ending, its still completely congruent.
pikamontr I don't believe so. Only tamamo from what I've read goes back in time. Everyone else just gets transported back to the near side of the moon cell. No time travel required.
Hm? Time travel? No no, you misunderstand. As far as I know, CCC's hakuno and extra's Hakuno are deeply connected. CCC happened as a split off from the original extra's near side story as copies are made on the far side. Eventually, for the most part, the copies die off one by one and they all go back to the near side, awaiting their normal deaths in the near side. (the one exception I think is the CCC true end, where you get new bodies.) I _know_ this is true for gilgamesh's servant ending, as in the translation Hakuno cannot remember Gilgamesh until gilgamesh forcibly jogs their memory by reappearing and saving them from deletion. "Beyond that door are ruins, and as soon as I open it the Moon Cell will delete me, and Hakuno Kishinami’s Holy Grail War will be over. That’s the clear premonition I’m getting. I can’t accept that. I haven’t lost yet. I’ve beaten Julius and advanced to the sixth round, after all. …but on some level, I also accept it. That Hakuno Kishinami should already have vanished, in some other place. …I was only saved by a surprise move just shy of a foul. You only break the rules once, so they call it a miracle. I can't find a translation of the earlier parts of the Tamamo servant ending (as they all focus on the cuteness that is her saving them), but they're in the extra clothes and in the extra world, with the same deletion scene that happens in extra- so I'm just pretty sure tamamo is saving the extra version who's memories of what their copy did on the farside are restored, just like gilgamesh.
EDIT: looking it over, there are some incongruencies like how it says the sixth week, but the main point is that they are saving the same hakuno that went through the first holy grail war in extra. Not being able to read japanese sux. I should fix that someday. EDIT 2: apparently that 6th week thing is also exclusive to Gilgamesh, because with him he couldn't travel to the near side (normally) So you got a random beserker that left you, and thats why you're being deleted. Back to square one I guess.
back then I played Fate extra because I wanted to play something about fate and the VN being hard to get then I play all 3 routes but the one I love the most is Tamamo's so you could say she is the reason that I am in this hell called Fate GO
ok so if my maths is right there nine versions of tamamo in the nasuverse right? we know there's tamamo no mae (most wanted 5 star for me btw) and tamamo cat (who i got on my 2nd or 3rd day playing the game) how many more incarnations of her are there in FGO?
I just had to know her past after I got her in fgo and the description showed that she sold her self to the humans at the end after she was accused for something she didnt do and that she just wanted to be a good wife
