A shame that Unit 731 who did horrific experiments on innocent people, children and POW’s didn’t get the same fate and pretty much got away with their crimes…
@Zeal warrior Gaming, well you can ask America abt that. The head of 731 trade many bio weapons clasified files and human anatomy with the American government. For that, he got off free of any charges and become a doctor of a small town until he dies at the ages of 71.
@aviagamer War crimes usually does only aplies to the losers of the war, USSR done a lot more war crimes than USA, and also most of them got unpunished, not only them but a lot of other minor countries.
If I'm not mistaken, at the time of WW2 under the emperor's administrstion, Seppuku(honour suicide) was still a thing. If they prevented him from committing suicide yet gave him the death sentence, it is possible that they did so as to prevent him from dying while preservinf his honour.
@@ゼロワンそれが俺の名だ Escaping from the punishment of their enemy by committing suicide is not and never will be an honorable thing, they deserved to be punished for the war crimes they did.
There was those two Japanese officers who had a competition of who could behead the most Chinese civilians in a certain amount of time. It was published and glorified in a newspaper at the time. Those two men got executed for war crimes though.
Yea the Japanese Imperial Army had an absurd lack of military discipline, esp considering their cultural decorum. Kind of reminds me of the stories of how American soldiers would "go native" in the jungles in Vietnam and commit atrocities that would never be culturally acceptable back home.
Disgusting how Unit 731 isn't even taught in Japan let alone the rest of the world. It's often forgotten that China and Korea (both) are one of the main 'Polands' of the east. But they're forgotten in terms of hardships and pain edit: it's been 2 years since this comment was made and my opinion has changed since. people still continue this thread for some reason so i'll have to make a few changes upon further research the tokyo district court did indeed recognise the actions of the Unit a 2 decades ago. Sadly trial by then was too late I don't think it's not taught since the events were on the other sides of the world. Forgotten is quite loose and we'll never know how much each person knows about the events. My initial statement was too generalised. I don't think death on such a scale should be compared in terms of what was worse.
@Xinnie Pingy This is why Japan has not yet admitted its crimes against entire East Asia, and some "victim countries" are still busy blaming each other and cannot agree on this attitude. SHAME ON YOU
Yeah bro Japan wanted all of Asia for themselves to feed their war machine.. they were literally tryna install puppet governments everyplace they invaded.. shoulda tried take out the U.S before going to Manchuria.. they could have got their oil in other Asian countries.. anyways I’m babbling on

Being an ethnic Korean living in Japan, working as both a chef and a rikishi (sumo wrestler) its very odd... On one hand, people will look at me and call me a "cockroach" for merely existing, because for some reason being born in another country is unacceptable to them. On the other hand, so many Japanese people have helped me on my way as both a person and a fighter and a worker, treating me with fairness, dignity and respect without expecting anything in return. As much as I have come to respect and admire Japan, I also wonder if I will ever truly be able to call it home. There are some of the most dignified, self respecting, honest, hard-working people i have ever had the pleasure to meet and befriend here, but also some of the most ignorant, racist, blind, xenophobic fools as well. All because their government refuses to tell the truth of what they did to my people, and my homeland.
Do you seek perfection? All nations have same problem about racism. We not in haven so all this a normal in this world. But the percentage of racism must be lower compared to past history and keep improving. Just list down a lot of positive things that like you love japan and negative things you hate than balance it and see if the weight is positive than stay and live at japan if not than up to you
I've heard about how badly Japan treats Asians from other countries. I did a presentation over the Japanese Brazilians and Vietnamese workers in the country that were harshly mistreated and underpaid in the workplace. This was solely because they weren't "pure Japanese". Xenophobia is one heck of a drug.
I am curious how is life for him when his greatgrandfather killed millions of people. How does he feel when he was studying history. Oh wait, Japan doesn’t teach them the real truth. Instead, Japan teach them that the war criminals are hero. Btw, the descendants are not at any fault at all. What happen are entirely their ancestors fault. This should be a lesson teach to the next generation.
would you say the same about Winston Churchill or Harry Truman’s descendants? If they’re allowed to be proud of their ancestor ruling a wartime nation, why can’t Japanese? Is it cause we lost the war and you guys won???

Don't forget american leaders, the British colonisers and the British Queen. They still lived their life peacefully and wealthy while doing war crimes. Serve the justice right.

@@DakotaofRaptors The survivors write history. But often times, the victors survive, while the losers killed. Therefore, you can say that the victors write history.
Why was it not the emperors of Japan being brought to justice but instead their generals. Japan has not even apologized for the damaged they casted upon many countries
Because it Will lead to civil war. And US Will waste many soldier and money to maintain the order. Also there risk Japan Will come to Soviet to seek help.
@君怡梁 they apologized and immediately pulled back the apologies after they came back to japan. Taiwans also been pro japan so u prblly shldnt hav said tht u r
You should study a little more history. It is said that Japan at that time was centered around the Emperor, but that is only for appearances. In reality, it was a military dictatorship. The Emperor was a mere decoration, and he himself gave orders only at the time of the 2.26 Incident and the end of the war. Furthermore, the Emperor himself offered to take the blame for the war on MacArthur, but it was the U.S. that refused to do so.
Exactly. They complain about us enshrining soldiers in the Yasukuni Shrine, yet every time I see a monument honouring soldiers in USA or Britain, it never says ‘excluding war criminals’??? He bowed after hearing he would be executed. Japanese’s warrior culture is scary to drive people to not fear death the slightest. Even touch men and loud mouths usually falter when death is right in front of them and seems more like reality
If his ashes is somewhere now, wouldn’t it inspire revitalization of Japanese imperial militarism? Spreading Tojo’ ashes at sea seems to be a thoughtful resolution.
In South East Asia / SEA (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodja, Laos, Thailand, Philippines, Myanmar, East Timor) , we are taught in school that Japan was the most sadistic and cruelest invader of SEA nations, not even the Portuguese and the Colonial Dutch invaders were as cruel as what had Japan did to SEA people. They threw babies up in the air and then quickly stabbed them with their bayonets, they force local people to wore jackets that were dipped in toxic chemicals for experiments and also force them to do Romusha (forced labour). This Tojo guy deserved the hang and the cremation, but the most disgusting thing to this day is that the Japan government is still hiding this fact and didn't even issued an apology like the Germans did.
