Hello I am the antagonist advocate some guy on the internet with a passion for stories and a preference for thier villians.
Through this channel I'm hoping to give a look into a bunch of anime I've missed (and maybe some I haven't) and put a spotlight on the writing in them that makes us love them so much.
I'm planning on watching anime, possibly cartoons, and movies with who knows what else in the future.

Yeah, modern abridged series don't really work the way the old ones did. Generally they will choose a couple of major details to tweak, like kirito's personality, and then add more comedy and keep the main flow of the story intact. SAO abridged arguably changes the story a bit but this one changes very little with ones like demon slayer, goblin slayer and slime abridged falling somewhere in the middle.

UBW abridged is super great, but to understand all the jokes/references, you need to have seen/read/played Fate/Zero and all 3 Fate/stay night routes. I do not play FGO, so maybe you know a lot about the events in those series/the VN from there.

Not really true. UBW Abridged was my introuction to the Fate franchise and I genuinely loved it. Yes there are some jokes that become more funny on a rewatch or when you learn more about the franchise, but those details just make me more interested. The things I don't know add to the mystery around the franchise and even without watching the original, the abridged series still gives enough information that I never feel like I'm lost or can't follow what's going on.

Okay. When I recommend this I thought you were really familiar with this universe. You might still like it anyway but you will probably have some trouble with the jokes. Sorry if this ends up going over your head.

Hmm, I may have explained myself badly here. I am very familiar with the Fate/Nasuverse in general, over the past 15 or so years since I've seen the original Fate/Stay Night anime I've actually gotten either spoiled or oddly informed of huge amounts of info from the various Fate stories. It's just that I haven't personally played/watched a fair amount of the tons and tons of fate series so things like minor details of Zero/Apocyrpha/Extella/CCC/PrismaIllya ETC are gonna fly over my head a bit but I doubt they'll really be laying those on thick. I mostly just meant I won't have the episode by episode knowledge that I have from something like SAOA where I could literally remember every episode before I watched them.

@@AntagonistAdvocacy well there are a fair number of references to zero in this show but I don't think you need to get too deep into the details to get them. Also archer makes references to the original fate route and to babylonian but nothing major. So maybe you won't have too much trouble.

I would add goblin slayer abridged and demon slayer abridged. Even though that second one is only a single episode so far.

Just realized i should probably mention that both of those ones I just mentioned are from the schmuck squad. I know goblin slayer has at least a few different attempts at abridging out there.
