Quick explanation, when Kiritsugu said that the ceremony doesn't need an incantation, he was talking about the words they were saying while doing the summoning, essentially you don't need to recite then, since the Holy Grail it's doing the summoning using the catalyst. The Worms thing there's nothing to do with the ritual or grail. Matou's worms are part of the family's type of magic, a brutal and gross type of magic btw.
The Holy Grail found in this series is not actually the real Holy Grail. This thing was made by mages like 500 years ago to grant wishes. And because they have a huge ego they called it the Holy Grail like the one from legend.
Personally, Zero has got the highest rewatch value because it focuses on different themes and philosophies. Each reaction and viewpoint is unique. (I also think Zero is the best starting point, but people will probably flame me lol)
aside from vn its my start recc too ubw means nothing without kiritsugu's character being integral to kirei and shirou and og fate sn isnt well adapted to source. i think even HF was better to start than ubw max confusion but i got one friend into fate to the point he got tattoos for illya's beserker i started him HF then zero onward he loved it only wanted me to explain if it wasnt in the anime at some point man i miss him.
fate might be a little confusing, specially since zero assumes you know some things about the general system of magic, families, grail war, etc, but I think it explains just enough to understand the main plot, don't feel bad if you confuse or don't get some things, that's to be expected and I'm sure comments will clarify anyway.
@Contagious anime well, i agree, but it is like SW prequels - without knowing Anakin will become Vader and Empire will happen Rots final is hell of a twist. Fate og VN is masterpiece, and going with it first would in general be the mythical "right way", but starting with Zero is no less unique and worthy expirience
@Contagious anime well, spoiler warning for a few things in all of the routes. fate zero spoils the part where Sakura and Rin were sisters. Reveals dick bugs ahead of time, and why Kirei couldn’t be killed by assassins heart grasp that killed even lancer. Completely unrelated but it also shows who won the last grail war, why Kirei was so aggressive on trying to make Shirou join, also reveals who Irisveil is and why he calls him brother and seems to hate and love him. Also shows why her heart was needed for the grail. (Because she was literally the grail). Also shows how op Gilgamesh is and spoils this mysterious character that beated up the strongest of the routes(other than HF, we don’t talk bout HF). So if that doesn’t count as spoiling, idk what is.
"without spoiling the others" yes you can its called starting with the original fate stay night fate zero is littrly made on the assumption you already know the ending of the 4th grail war and MANY other things
@@adam-dn3hi Thank you! It might not be the best, but that´s just another reason to watch it first. The quality only goes up. (It really only doesn´t hold up when compared to the original VN.)
15:10 Here's the thing. It's not actually THE Holy Grail. It is an object that has the supposed properties of the real deal. To mages, if it can do things as well as the actual Holy Grail supposedly can, then it is a Holy Grail. The object's inauthenticity is irrelevant in face of that. They touch on this earlier in the episode, when they say that Holy Church has already investigated Fuyuki's Holy Grail and concluded that it isn't the actual one. For extra context, in "Fate/stay night" visual novel, it is said that Fuyuki's Holy Grail is 726th that Holy Church has checked, meaning that before it there were 725 other objects that warranted suspicion that it may turn out to be the real one. 22:20 No. Christianity is far from the only place where a story with a snake can be found. They are talking about an older tale... I'll leave it at that to avoid possible spoilers.
Thanks for the context. You can see where we would think they're borrowing lines of story from Christian dogma. I keep getting railgun/index vibes but I know they're vastly different. It's a fun, albeit grotesque, ride so far... -Kyle
Oh, a new Fate reaction series - that's a sub from me :D Just bear in mind, Fate/Zero is a prequel to the "main" part of Fate: Fate/stay night. Unfortunately, there is no perfect place to start watching Fate if you want to stick to the anime (which obviously, you need to do as an anime reaction channel). The best place to start otherwise would be the original Visual Novel from 2004, called "Fate/stay night". For anime-only, the general consensus nowadays seems to be to start with Fate/Zero, the prequel. There are pros and cons for this. The original Visual Novel has 3 "routes", which all have an anime adaptation. The names of the routes (in order) and their anime adaptations are: 1. Fate route - Anime: Fate/stay night, 2006, Studio Deen 2- Unlimited Blade Works route - anime: Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, 2014/15, Studio ufotable 3. Heaven's Feel route- anime: 3 movies by ufotable, called "presage flower", "lost butterfly" and "spring song" You already started with Fate/Zero, the prequel (which is also available as a Light Novel I think - never read it). Logically, the next thing to watch would the the 2006 Fate route adaption by Studio Deen. Unfortunately, that is quite an old anime (and not by ufobtable), and would feel like a significant downgrade in animation. It also has other problems (mixing elements from the other two routes into it), which means that this anime is not popular and you can consider skipping it. I personally think it is still watchable, and would recommend it, especially if you like Saber and would like to see her character arc (which will not be explored in the other two routes, as you are expected to already know the Fate route). Next would definitely be the UBW (Unlimited Blade Works) anime by ufotable (2 Seasons, around 26 episodes). And after that, the three Heaven's Feel movies (also by ufotable). You will probably notice that the visuals get better with every installment by ufotable. After that, everything else is basically a spin-off and can be watched in any order! (Well, Fate/Hollow ataraxia is a sequel to Fate/stay night , but there is no anime for it). Some possible series: - Fate/Apocrypha - Fate/Grand Order (lots of movies plus the Babylonia series) - Today's menu for the Emiya family (slice of life with the Fate characters, I really like this one) - Prisma Illya (I don't like this) - plus probably more that I am forgetting Looking forward to your reactions!
Thanks for the sub and the information. This is quite the extensive world we've stepped in... We do a lot more than just reactions here so please poke around a bit. We have a lot of Anime reviews too, and more will come as I pick through a back catalog from our sister channel to reupload here. -Kyle
Edgar Allen Poe can actually qualify as a servant... but here's a good rule of thumb for servants; if it is past 1920 then its likely impossible to be a servant outside of explicit, extreme circumstances. Also for more worldbuilding I suggest looking into Fate/Grand Order. It adds so much to base fate that you get a great idea of how the world works in the background. Its a gacha game though so you may wanna simply read/watch it though I will say that despite being a gacha game you can definitely not spend a single cent on it and still get through the entire main story.
yalls reactions are a joy to watch. cant wait to see the continuation of fate. here is a guide to watching (since yall already started with zero.) Fate/Zero Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works (Special Prologue/Alternative Ending as well) Fate Stay Night Heaven's Feel Trilogy And then delve into whatever else fate related you wanna enjoy!
Hi I would like to suggest that you watch fate/Zero: Please einzbern Counseling Room alongside fate/Zero. Counseling Room is a series of six 15 minute episodes that was released together with the DVD of fate/Zero. Counseling Room explains a lot of lore and rules that help you understand the story easier. The watch order I found online was: Episode 1 can be watched any time after F/Z episode 1. Episode 2 can be watched after F/Z episode 4. Episode 3 is a little weird from a timeline perspective but should probably be watched after F/Z episode 4 or later. Episode 4 can be watched after F/Z episode 15. Episode 5 can be watched after F/Z episode 16. Episode 6 can be watched after F/Z episode 24.
I am dissapointed that almost every creator starts with zero do people have ANY idea how much they are spoiled? like I get you probably dont realize it because zero treat the plot twists and plot points in fate stay night as common knowledge(as it assumes you already saw the original fate) but its actually such a bad start
@@TheGenreVerse Yes. Fate is just the largest. The reason it happened was mostly due to one event that changed in the timeline. Now we have heroic spirits instead of vampires because of it.
@@TheGenreVerse Zouken is not a true vampire. The Crest Worms channel magical energy expanding their natural abilities allowing one to use them to attain a form of immortality and can impregnate others to be used as puppets. Vampires are different as they originate from Brunestud of the Crimson Moon also known as the Ultimate of the Moon and Type-Moon. There are two varieties of vampires such as True Ancestors like his daughter Arcueid (one of Tsukihime’s protagonists) that work as a sort of defense mechanism for the Earth and Dead Apostles which are the common variety. The strongest of the Dead Apostles are the 27 Dead Apostle Ancestors and most of them could be around Servant level in strength with some being way stronger, though not as powerful as a full True Ancestor, since Arcueid at full power is considered one of the strongest in the entire Nasuverse.
People already told it in the comments, but Fate is a MASSIVE universe. There are probably more than 30-40 of Fate(s) with their own unique spin-offs. Each of them explores the laws and lores of the verse and either innovate or change them entirely. Not only that, Fate is only one part of Nasuverse. There's also other stories that shares the same rules and laws but instead are like their own story like; Garden of Sinners ( this one already got 7 part anime movies adaptation from ufotable from 2007-2013 ), Mahoyo: Witch of the Holy Night ( this one's already announced to get an anime movie adaptation also by ufotable in 2023 ) and the famous Tsukihime, which in term of popularity in second only to Fate ( they have been TEASING the fans by making the openings for the new Tsukihime Remake VN animated by ufotable and people thought Tsukihime anime are confirmed, and they have been bamboozled. People are also weirded out why they just didn't want to get Tsukihime adaptation yet when it's one of the most popular things fans wanted to get ).
So it is a bit like Railgun/Index... Or are those a bit like this? We'll have to see how it goes covering Fate/Zero to see if we do reactions to more or maybe watch off camera and review. With it being so huge, I don't we'll have time to react to everything. Thanks for joining the conversation and watching! -Kyle
@@TheGenreVerse It's a bit like Railgun yeah, but the overall aspects of Type-Moon/Nasuverse are far more massive than that of Railgun. Also Fate series has generated revenue around more than 6-7 billions dollars and most of that money came from Japan itself considering Fate has probably one of the biggest presences in Japanese entertainment media.
Yeah... I was not expecting the worms... Or what they're be used for... Or the kid being a chicken murdering psychopath... ::insert Thor "another!" meme::
Good reaction, and yeah, Zero is dark. However, as it is a prequel, it should not be watched first. You already started it, and the damage is done, so there is nothing more to do than continue it. I know people told you to start with Zero, is sad, but thats the general concensus nowadays. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it, and if there is something you dont understand, thimk that is missing, or believe it does not have a clear explanation, is because you should already know that. Have in mind that Zero is a prequel, and thus, the story assumes you are already familiar with lots of things Well, have fun, really. And great reaction as always 😃
@@TheGenreVerse For the record weather it’s right to watch fate zero first or not is a big debate in the fate community. I personally think it’s perfectly fine to watch it first (cause it’s the one I started with) but i know that’s not the popular opinion. However I would say personally that if I had watched unlimited bladework first i would have enjoyed both zero and unlimited bladework significantly less. But again that’s just me.
@@TheGenreVerse On one hand, yeah. Because of its nature as a prequel, it does assume you know preexisting stuff. However most of that stuff will eventually be tackled if you decided to follow through and watch the rest of the directly associated works, specifically the Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works series and the Fate/Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel movies. So if you’re really looking for that “maximization” of your experience, and hopefully enjoyment, of the animated works, you might want to consider hunkering down for the long haul and watching those as well. And once you do so… Man, oh man. Let’s just say that the rabbit hole that is Type-Moon’s works only begins there. Because when you said that you like getting into worlds that you can “live in”, that is something that Type-Moon’s works(Fate - which Fate/Zero is an installment of, Tsukihime, and etc.) absolutely excel at providing. All thanks to the shared multiverse with shared fundamental principles their works inhabit. In any case, I hope you enjoy the show and hopefully give the franchise a chance. If it does click for you, then you’re in for good long ride.
Very good reaction and like that you started with fate/zero! If you ask online where to start you get told to play through the entire VN or watch the worst fate season first (by studio dean) which both are terrible. Awful way to gatekeep the community imo. Starting with fate/zero is the best way to do it for an average anime watcher. Can’t wait to see episode two by you two!
Fate VN is really masterpiece, but most radical fans who really hate whem people start with Zero doesnt seem to understand that more people might try VN because of it
I wouldn't expect them to change their character. I'm confused as to what you mean by "real" Arthur though. Do you mean the "real" one in Fate? Like the one in their didn't past? Or are you alluding to the "real" Arthur here in our world?
@@TheGenreVerse As to that, the real one in Fate. There is a male Arthur in Fate, but he's from Fate/Prototype, which is essentially a prototype for Fate that Nasu wrote in high-school. Fate/Prototype even got an anime movie adaptation during the 2010s but that's basically the history of Prototype. Then after the creation of Fate/Stay Night, Arthur got genderbent and there it is; the cashcow of Nasuverse.
