He used so many interesting chords, and was just a brilliant writer and player. The music world is going to miss him now that he's put Fates to bed for good.

The passion of this band doesn't resonate with your average metal fan because they're brianwashed by radio and the power of multimedia companies.....FATES WARNING AND DREAM THEATER NEVER GET WHAT THEY DESERVE...AND THAT SUCKS!!!, but you rock my friend ..you have the intelligence and the spirit to identify and appreciate what quality music is....HATS OFF TO YOU!!!!
Jonathan Jacobs so true and they evolved as a band wich almost all other bands that started at the same time are singing greatest hits but these guys are still making hits.
This is where MOST new bands are lacking. Progressive, Heavy, melodic. With a catchy hook and all instruments fit the purpose of the song. Not to mention an actual lead!! Yes I'm an old jaded metalhead.
osi they are cool guys. I met them at Lamours in Brooklyn and not only did they rock, they brought Sanctuary and Pantera with them. first time I heard of Pantera. CFH for life since. got to speak to Frank Arresti and he actually remembered the show because it was the first time he ever saw them either. But FW and Sanctuary sounded like the CD. on the money and not all bands sounded good there back then. one of the best shows I saw
Lance Wilkins , Wow, that had to be one of the coolest things ever ! I'm a huge Pantera fan. I play guitar and Dimebag Darrel Abbott was the best guitarist who ever lived, in my opinion. I love Fates Warning too. Can't wait to see them live in Pittsburgh PA on June 27th! FATES FOREVER!
One of the best songs on an incredibly strong album. Album of the year for me. Don't take long breaks between albums guys, metal is in need of quality albums, and you're at the top of your game. Matheos is a beast, excellent guitar tones & songwriting.
I was working for a few nights over the weekend, I work a swing shift, which means I work nights one week and days the next. But at least I got to see it!! Awesome video, imagine, Fates hooking up with Patric, the guy that does the videos for Evergrey. That would be a whole different level!!!
Fates Warning is an awesome American Progressive Band formed in 1982 by John Arch(Vocalist), Jim Matheos & Victor Arduini(Guitarists), Joe DiBiase(Bassist), and Steve Zimmerman(Drummer). They really rock and "Seven Stars" is an awesome song!! 😻🎸🖤🤘🏻😎
I think everything about Fates Warning is underrated! John Arch has one of the best voices in metal EVER!!! Jim Matheos is by far one of the best guitarists ive ever heard! Ill put John Arch head to head with any vocalist and he'd put them to shame!!! You cant compare to how musically inclined Fates Warning is!!!
My favorite band EVER. Been a fan since 87. Will follow them forever. Can't thank them enough for the memories. I just wish they would come to the lower East coast, so I could shake their hands and say thank you.
I realize people throw around the word " musical genius " a lot but the Jim Matheos and Ray Alder combo has to be as close to " musical genius " as you can get .

Can barely stand waiting until this January when Fates will play here in Vegas! It will be my third time seeing them live and they never disappoint: top-notch musicianship, deep lyrics, and passion in every note. It is a travesty to have NEVER heard a Fates Warning song on the radio but that fact just makes seeing them live all the more awesome! Keep rocking guys, you are giants in the prog-rock world! Looking forward to hearing ToF songs live!
Great video of an outstanding album, best prog metal record of the year and so far superior than Dream Theater last album. Never been in Madrid, but the images of the city reminds me when i visit Montevideo, Uruguay. The Spanish influence in all cities of South America are evident until today, five centuries later.

Cristián Pavez I waited for years to finally seem them live in São Paulo Brazil and I still can't process as their concert was so short but worthy every minute. Mike Portnoy played drums for them that night. Pure magic!

I guess I'll put my two cents in...I have been a fan of these guys since "Perfect Symmetry". Fates keeps getting better and better. The writing on this cd is some of the best they have ever done. Ray sounds better than ever. And he's 49!!! I am a singer and have covered a few of their songs, besides Halford his voice was the most enjoyable to cover. They had a huge influence on my original band and I can never thank them enough for the influence they had on my lyrics and phrasing. But I can try...Thank you Fates Warning. They have become my favorite band of all time.
One of the greatest bands out there today.....LOVE FW! I've been lucky enough to see them twice live, once with Zonder and the other with Bobby on drums. There is a FW CD in my player at ALL times. Keep the great music coming FW!
"FW"...One of the most underlooked bands of the 80's..."No Exit" was and still is a killer disc!!!!! Fan since 88' (Silent Cries) Video got me hooked..bought the disc ...listen from start to end!!!

I hope this band gets the recognition they so rightly deserve...If they wrote this during their tour last year, they should keep doing that. Ray's vocals sound amazing, Jim is always a genius, Joey and Bobby sound amazing also!!! My favorite FW cd since Inside Out!! Not that I don't love all their work, But this cd is just one of their best in my mind...

@@scottdenja6896 Well, to be honest, not anyone can growl or scream. I enjoy both sides of metal and as a self-taught vocalist of both sides, I can tell you that both are difficult to learn. The difference in difficulty is that singing has all the notes, tones, vocal placement, etc whereas screams and growls generally have three different tones/placements: fry, false cord and tonal (which is basically singing with very heavy distortion; think Devin Townsend). Really, it's just a matter of preference. Like I said, I enjoy both but get that not everyone has the same taste. Singing and screaming take talent, they're just two different types of vocal styles. No need to insult one just because it's one of the most common vocal styles in metal these days.

When I'm down I go straight to Alder and the FW crew. Such an Amazing band. Ray Alder can do therapy with just his voice. He has such charisma and the dude doesn't age.
Now this is where we go wrong when we start comparing bands like it's a sport. There is no point in comparing QR with DT and FW. They all being sth different to the genre

Album of the year. Period. Tons of beautiful melodies and top notch musicianship. To be honest, I did not expect FW to release an album like this, though Darkness in a Different Light was very good. But this one is stellar. Second only to Parallels. Ah, and Seven Stars is a well crafted tune , indeed. One of my favourites from the album.

Been listening since no exit was new, and i swear theories of flight is my favorite album by them, and in my top albums all time. they NAILED it, this entire record. its the album i waited 20 years for from them. The light and shade of things....wow. ghosts of home.. amazing
Incredible achievement that late in their career. My favorite FW album is Sympathetic Resonance. Beside the name, it's 100% Fates Warning in style and line up. Crushing riffage, prog to the tilt. My other favorite is Perfect Symmetry, but then Theories is already coming at a 3rd place. And I have to say Long Day Good Night is not much worse. It lacks the stellar hightlights of Theories and needs more work to get into, but rewards it richly.

idk if he did but that's why I quit smoking weed and tabaco because even though I'm not in a band and probably never will be , I have a high octave voice like Dickinson, Ray and tate and the day I loose my voice will be the day that a part of me dies. Love just hearing myself sing lol.
