Found these two veteran graves and noticed and infant tucked in the middle of them. At first I assumed it was a father and mother, but as I looked a little more, it seems that it’s the baby girls father and grandfather surrounding her body in the afterlife. Absolutely beautiful.

I have a rain water barrel and we use a product called D2 biological solution. Then no metallic brushes. We usually spray D2 on first and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Then when using the water keep the brushes and stone wet for best results. Ones it’s all done and rinsed off, one more coating of the D2. After a couple weeks the results are incredible.

MM stands for Machinists Mate. My late husband was one of those and he primarily worked in the engine room of the ship he served on, keeping everything in prime working order. Have you found a good source of D2? I know Walmart has it, at least the bigger stores. And Amazon.
@VirginiaTombstoneRevival
@VirginiaTombstoneRevival 4 месяца назад
Thank you for that! I see a lot of these older ranks or acronyms that were before my time and can't figure them out. I get my D2 from Atlas Preservation(not a sponsor). I have never seen it at any Walmart or place like that. I know Amazon has similar products, but none that I have tried...so I am a bit hesitant to use something else and risk damaging a stone.

Thank you so much for your loving, careful and skillful restoration of these grave markers. They look so beautiful!❤🌹 I watch some channels of folks who do cemetery studies. They read the the gravestones and comment on some of the deceased. It is quite interesting, but i really wonder what in the heck they are talking about when they say "how beautiful the markers are"...when the markers are very old and often covered in moss, lichen, mold. They "love" the look and don't want them cleaned. When they illuminate the markers with a flashlight you can see that underneath all of the growth there are amazing carvings and epitaphs...but barely visible with all the growth. It is so sad as these markers will soon be completely unreadable and all the history lost. I keep thinking Christopher needs to bring his skill and products there to show they can look really clean and beautiful with appropriate skills and appropriate products . Thank you for your beautiful work! They look wonderful!❤

I feel the same. I cleaned two small children stones last month from the 1920s that were in really bad shape. I didn’t record the process, but took before and afters. Couldn’t make out much of anything even ever the cleaning. I was able to find them on find a grave through some digging and took new photos yesterday a few weeks after the D2 had time to work. You can read nearly everything now. Definitely made me happy to be able to update their pages with birth and death dates.

That is so wonderful! I love to see history preserved and appreciated ❤ I know not all grave markers are of the same material and can crumble but if a gravestone is safe to clean it is so gratifying to see it restored for family and history. Thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness in this important work.🌹

@VirginiaTombstoneRevival 4 месяца назад

@JulesUS8386
@JulesUS8386 4 месяца назад
@@VirginiaTombstoneRevival yes the graves were not relocated from the courtyard of the apartments. The graves are less than eight feet from apartment windows/doors!! That would be a little strange…unless they happened to be relatives who remained in DFW. Also some other of the early Dallas settlers were also buried but with markers of the 1700s vanished. Well, a major Hwy was built over them back in 1950s or 60s and back then one lane north, one lane south. Every few years the Hwy was widened to accommodate for increasing traffic. It can no longer be any bigger. When they started widening this last lane on each side, the construction crew dug up some remains of the first settlers (on the opposite side of the freeway from the Founder’s Cemetary at the apartments. You would think they would have looked for more graves since that seemed to be where the original people here settled. So the construction stopped on the HWY until archeologists moved everyone out, and did an archeologist survey. The graves where relocated to the west or behind that side of the HWY. This way the construction could continue. The area of north Texas has some very interesting history as the area settled. I’m sure people in your area are happy that the headstones there will be nice and clean with awesome American Flags for Memorial Day. That’s a peaceful resting area where you are working hard with elbow grease getting them clean. Those edge graves where trees drip tree sap and other things that cause the growth on the stone could have been permitted by either placing the graves away from trees, or extend the trees away from the graves. It is a pretty place though! Have a blessed day♥️

If you haven't already (and forgive my not browsing your earlier videos), would you please consider doing a tutorial type, discussing the brushes, cleaning solutions and techniques you use to clean graves, and why you use the products and techniques that you use -- I am always eager to learn from others. As I'm sure you know, there are so many cleaning agents that are actually damaging to stones and damaging to particular types of stones -- marble, granite, etc. I personally use a bio-friendly cleaning agent, plastic bristle brushes and LOTS of water which I have to take to the cemetery as there is not water supply or irrigation system in my cemetery. Thanks.

My father was in WW II Army infantry. He was a marksman and served in North Africa and Italy. He received 2 bronze stars but refused to leave his commanding officers put in paperwork twice for wounds. He said he could not let my grandmother receive a telegram saying he had been wounded in action because that could be anything from a shrapnel wound to being on death’s door and he couldn’t do that to her. I lost him in 1999 at the age of 88. He destroyed the papers that went with his medals so we don’t know why he received them. He didn’t want anyone to know and he would not talk about being in the war. I know he was the best father ever!! I still miss him every day!!
