It’s one of the reasons child killers, molesters are kept in separate locations in the prison to prevent vigilante justice but it doesn’t work all the time as some prisons are over crowded

No kidding, 3/4s of the baddies would just walk between the police brutality, police misconduct, and just blatant ignorance of their due diligence as officers, but my god if it isn't satisfying to watch child killers get beat up.

Not just two family members, that's her husband and son, unless she supposedly had a daughter or son in school or otherwise not present when this scene happened in the story, that's her entire family, her whole life, drowned and frozen over. Everything she built just gone.

@@GamingBenchmarksBI Lawyers defend scum like this because it's the legal and moral right of everyone to have an impartial defender. That lawyer is not there to just claim anything the defendant did was right, but simply to ensure that they get treated fairly according to the law. The suspect had guns and money, neither of which are illegal in themselves. If someone breaks down the door to your house and screams at you to get on the ground, are you going to wait for them to tell you they're the police, or will you defend yourself from this perceived attacker? Rarely if ever is a case as simple as "this person is evil scum and must be removed from society." and there always HAS to be someone standing up for all parties involved for anything approaching justice to be served.

@@GamingBenchmarksBI that's besides the point. the rules of police conduct exist to prevent police from beating confessions out of suspects. yes, there are times when it means scumbags can get off scott-free because of some techinicality, but would you really prefer a world where police could just torture info out of suspects? also, if other detectives lied and said Voight mirandised the suspect and the defence lawyed managed to prove they were lying, that's perjury. perjury is a criminal offence; they could lose their job and pension, possibly even go to jail for it. and again, the way exclusion works is via the "fruit of the poisonous tree" principle. if not for the accomplice's info, they would not have found the guy, nor the guns, nor the money. so legally, if the defence finds out the accomplice was forced into confessing, then all the info he gave is excluded and all the evidence linked to that info is excluded also, i.e. the guns and the money. he could still be charged with resisting arrest, which is a minor offence with no jail time. so, yeah... if CPD episodes followed through to the trial, it's highly likely the guy would get off

Agreed; any officer like Voight would have been suspended and then cashiered in short order. Hell, the entire force would have been facing an inquiry, and every last one of their cases reinvestigated. I wouldn't be surprised if every last one of those cases would have their sentences vacated simply on a procedural basis.
