Her and Lady Felicia are an awesome pairing. Mrs. McCarthy is superbly played by Sorcha Cussack and the whole show is a delight, especially in these weird times. I'm newly hooked and it's my new " Poirot "
Mrs McCarthy is great! Excellent actress. She is very entertaining, but she can do deep, dark emotions at the drop of a hat. I would love to see her in other roles.
You're going to get your chance. Sorcha Cusack has left Father Brown, as of Series 10. Claudie Blakley is wonderful as the new church secretary, but I miss Mrs. M and her award-winning strawberry scones, made from a recipe going back to the time of King George III.
best character on all of tv! i want her in ten more seasons of “father brown.” i’m an american who recently discovered this show (read the short stories a while ago), and i can’t get enough of mrs m!
She is so funny and Suzie is so pretty. Whatever happened to Suzie? Sid Carter is adorable and all of us have a little bit of Lady Felicia in us, right? lol Love this show.
She is the epitome of a hypocrite and her soul runs rampant with vanity. Her only saving is the fact she comes around in the end when she realizes she's in the wrong. I didn't care for her too much.
I agree. She's a gossip, prideful, petty, and rude (especially to poor Suzie!). When I first started watching with my 6-year-old (his favorite show) I really liked her... now that I've seen more, I don't like here so much. And yes, she comes around in the end, but it never sticks. Sometimes, I really wish that Father Brown would read her name in mass, but we all know he's too good a man to do that.
She is very much like George Costanza, a reflection of our humanity, we all think we are the fun and interesting folk and despise the negative traits we see in them
Missing her on this series. The bull obey of the actress going off with new opportunities founds fake. I miss her. Bunty. LadyF Flambeau and Sid. I’m surprised thru didn’t replace the actor who plays Father Brown. The new maid housekeeper is an awful character. Just boring. The new parish secretary is over contrived the actresses are fine but the characters are a joke
Why is it that in an era where segregation was in full swing and b lacks made up less than .001 - percent of Britain that 8/10 of the relationships from series 5 on are interracial?
I think they were much less segregationist in the UK than we were here in the states in the 1950s. But you're right that there just weren't that many "PoC" people inhabiting, or even passing through, the Cotswolds in 1953. And I find that annoyingly anachronistic merely for the sake of DIE for an era that was 65-70 years in the future.
and it's 'sc o nes' not "sc ons" ...LOL... drives me batshit every time, but other differently pronounced words is just fine. not sure why this one bothers me most
manic angel - I checked this out as I wasn’t sure which version of “scones” was your preference. I saw a website that used an easy way to identify them, either the same sound as “gone” or as “bone”. Apparently more people in the northern half of GB use the first version and in the southern half they tend to use the second version. My grandparents migrated to Australia from Scotland and Ireland and my mother was a cake and scone champion. I’ve only ever heard the “gone” pronunciation from her and any of the British or Aust. baking shows on tv. I’m thinking that was your preferred way too.
