The most amazing concert I've ever been to. Still can't believe they released an official recording from it, thank you Josh and everyone who participated in this incredible event
"Whose bright idea was it to sharpen the knives? Just twenty minutes 'fore the boat capsize If you want an answer, it's anybody's guess I'm treading water as I bleed to death" Hangout at the Gallows is hitting different today...
Been listening to this for weeks, this recording makes me feel like my heart is overflowing with joy - Sorry for being cheesy. 5 days after this was recorded I saw FJM live for the first time. (In Riga. And then for the second time in Vilnius). Keep looking back to these two nights in August whenever I feel down. Miss you. Next tour when you come to Europe I promise myself to make more than two shows. Hope you’ll make it to Russia someday soon. Love, love, love.
Glad this was recorded! Best live set I've heard from him. On "Ballade of the Dying Man"...sounds like George Harrison's Band at the time of "The All Things Must Pass" ! - and that's a GOOD Thing!
I remember picking up FJM's first album randomly, because Drjuchin's album cover was so killer. I trusted the man behind the counter as he told me about Josh and his time with Fleet Foxes. 'This must be cool' I thought.... that was one of the best picks of my life. I was an instant fan, and even checked out all of his older works under J. Tillman (which I highly recommend for any real music lover)... and let me say, after years of being a fan & seeing him live numerous times... Off-Key in Hamburg has a certain beautiful pain about it... Take care, man. You have a special place in our hearts.
It harkens back to such live performances as Dark Side of The Moon, and Shadows and Light. I have been listening to this daily for a couple months now…its etched into my mind at this point. It must have been mind bending to see live.
