What makes the sketch even funnier is that Mickie Free actually confirmed that the story was true. And that Prince can play basketball like a pro. And even down to having blueberry pancakes after the game. Absolutely incredible.
Prince actually used that photo of Dave holding the pancakes for his album cover for "Breakfast Can Wait." Chappelle was actually super impressed, because he could do absolutely nothing about it haha
@@johnathanstruble1064 u can search online for the cover of the single I told my worker he died laughing it says PRINCE “Breakfast can wait” And picture of Chappell skit character lmaoo
I remember watching this when it first aired. I was in my college dorm and I could hear my entire level CRYING laughing!! The building was WILDIN’ OUT!! That next day, everybody was talking about it. Man, great memories. 😂😂😂
@@antoineporche-rideaux4841 He was by normal people's standards, I think he meant in comparison to the real top players. He played for real at one time, and the difference between serious amateurs (high school, college, 2-4 division) and novices (normies) is still insanely high. The better you get, the better you understand the gap between normal people and the true professionals, especially in ball sports, the difference is sometimes hard to quantify unless you have experienced it in the field against professionals. I used to play football (soccer) semi-pro when I was young adult, but damn what a difference it was when I first time played with the national league (in Finland) team players (not in an official game, but in a practice game). Their top scorer, who was not that impressive even in the Finnish league at the time, felt like he ran like Usain Bolt, kicked the ball like he had rocket shoes and when he ran into you during corners to fight for the ball, it felt like he was a truck running over you. Mind you, I'm not tall, but at the time I was the fastest and most athletic player in our team, and I felt like a small kid with a broken leg in comparison (I was 17), and that dude was barely making it in last place team in a minor European league. When I saw those same guys play against premier league teams in a friendly, the premier league guys were treating them as children in turn, and running around in circles around them. Still, I can beat 1v10 againt non-players, and seem like Ronaldinho to them, since they seem like going in slow motion to me and I have time and skill to do all sorts of crazy tricks you normally can't think off to do in a real game, but can only do off the pitch. Well, maybe not anymore due to arthritis, but without that So when Prince says he wasn't even that good, it is just the difference in skill and ability that makes the other player seem and act so superior to you, since his processing speed and physical ability of the game is on a whole different level, when he himself doesn't feel like he is anything special compared to the real players he has played against.
Man I ve been watching these videos for like thirteen years now, and its just as funny as the first time. Charlie Murphy was one of those guys you would have worked with, who would have told these amazing stories, with all the guys just laughing like you see with these two gentlemen
Since you got your Dad on this video I'll share a little story about my Dad and Prince. My Dad was good friends with Larry Graham from Sly and the Family Stone. Larry was good friends with Prince so my Mom and Dad eventually met and became friends with Prince. They would get invites to private shows at Paisley Park. There is a video we have of my Mom and Dad (The two Whitest People on Earth) on stage dancing with Prince and Larry. Dads gone now but we have great memories of him. Cool to see the great relationship you have with your Dad.
Man I dig watching you and your pops chopping it up and having a blast. Lost my dad way to young wish I could hang out have a beer and watch him laugh at funny shit. Peace
Charlie Murphy was also in the parody movie CB4 , amazing and hilarious film. I LOVED this reaction, these Charlie Murphy stories were my favorite. Much respect!!!
I heard that after Prince won that actual basketball game he had one of his assistants bring out a whole box of bandaids to cover the bruised egos of the losing team. Prince was wicked AF when it came to rubbing it in that he won.
So funny. Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories is the apex of comedy. I know for a fact, that I have never laughed so hard I’m my life then when seeing the Prince and Rick James skits on the Chappelle Show with Charlie Murphy being just brilliant as the storyteller. Thank you Charlie Murphy and RIP you comic great.
The two True Hollywood stories are the best sketches in all of Chappelle's show, and it's already a great show. But those two stories just cracked me up.
Your video appeared in my feed and I’m so happy I clicked on it. Your dad is a gem and his laugh is infectious. 😂 And yes, please react to The Boondocks with your dad. I can already tell he would love it. 🙏🏽
The boondocks cartoon is like the black version of Family Guy or Married With Children. It might be very offensive to some black people because it pokes fun of slavery, uncle toms, black women and men, thugs, black gangs, oxnious relatives, gays, black people in certain situations etc.
Prince & Eddie Murphy actually confirmed this story, a picture of this game surfaced a few years back. And you most def have to show him the Boondocks lol! Subbed.
fun fact, prince was actually a varsity basketball player for his high school as a freshman. he wasn't a starter, but a bench-switch all-rounder. he was called the "7th player" he may not have been a starter, but blame that on the fact that the team at the time was full of the most competent players in their age group.
Charlie murphy was also a movie writer as well. I believe he wrote a lot of material for Eddie’s standups and he was a writer for Harlem Knights and many other movies
I was lucky to see Charlie before he passed - worth every cent of that ticket! Plus, I aways try to support fellow military guys, and I knew he'd gotten out about the same time I came in. Dude is missed!
Watching Charlie Murphy real Hollywood stories never gets old. I really enjoyed you and your father. I can see the relationship is strong tween you guys. i just subscribed.
Great reaction to a personal fave! Prince said in an interview afterwards that it wasn't so much his team was that good, it's just their team was that bad.
10:36 Don't forget his white buddy, Samuel L. Jackson. Those two characters were hands down the best of the show, if they were in the episode you knew it was gonna be a good one.
Ed Wuncler the Third was Charlie Murthy’s character on the Boondocks, definitely have your dad check out a compilation of his scenes, Charlie always killed that role.
Apparently the story was confirmed to be true with little to no embellishment. Mans really went out on the court in heels and destroyed them…then served pancakes after XD
The other Dave Chappell episode with Charlie Murphy is the Rick James one. That one is the absolute funniest shit. And it actually has Rick James in it. R.I.P CHARLIE MURPHY AND RICK JAMES!!!
That look Eddy give the camera tells that was a true story just look at his face expression 11:45 and pause it ! Hahahhahah I laugh every time i see this story Thanks guys.
The pancakes are probably real, I think it was Zoe Kravitz who confirmed they went to Prince's house for a small performance, and they were served pancakes while they were there.
New subscriber ,I like the father son vibe yall have, and the stories your father tells about his experiences, prince actually played basketball in high-school.,he did confirm this story before he past he,said he didn't actually cook the pancakes himself but he did serve them. This is one of my favorite episodes, and yes please introduce your dad to the Boondocks.
This shit is funny AF, this skit is pure platinum, I can always laugh merely thinking about this skit/experience, even Prince himself loved this skit, he made a limited cd single called "pancakes"...true story, look it up, "and make sure your crew is there to see it, you might get embarrassed...that cat can ball!" hahaha
