Faulty Logitech Unifying USB diy easy fix 

Two years, sitting in a box, I watched other's videos showing something nearly identical, but only your technique ended up working for me. Thanks! Old mouse saved!

My receiver hadn't worked in over 4 years. I took it to so many tech shops to try and get it to work but they couldn't. This method actually fixed mine really quickly. So Happy, love from Pakistan!!!

btw for other logtech dedicated receivers it also works ... another way if you can't open the receiver, is to get a short USB extension cord, and squeeze the female socket prior to inserting the dongle

This worked on my son's Logitech G305 transmitter too. Life savior. Saved a brand new AUD55

Would have never thought to do this. I was trying to find ways to prop the dongle up with carefully cut toothpicks but this was a much better solution. A+!

My receiver was a slightly different style, without the white ring, but I was able to pull the black cap off the end and insert a folded piece of paper as you suggested. Fixed at work, awesome! Thanks.

At first I didn't think this was going to work but turns out I wasn't putting enough paper under there. Once I folded it over again it worked like a charm. Thanks for the video!

I just removed it with my nails because I don't have pliers :D broke half of the plastic off, but when I put it back, it worked. THANK YOU! This mouse issue was SO annoying (it worked inconsistently ). I'm a girl and proud of myself :D

If, like me, you bend up the metal casing too much for it to fit anymore, you can just leave it off. Tape your slip of paper on the back of the chip, then layer up some more little usb-sized pieces of tape, stick them on the back, and just slip it into your port. You don't actually need the metal casing for it to work

Thanks for your help! Took me one try with the paper and voila!...my M705 Mouse works great and was able to also update firmware released August 2019. Only thing is I had to use a little bit of super glue to get the black cover to stay connected to the white plastic.

I already fixed mine but tysm for helping others as I know not having a mouse and it works one day then it doesn't and it's just a pain in the ASS. Again thanks!

Fantastic thanks - was all ready to buy a replacement receiver but frustrated they cost almost as much as a mouse.

You don't actually have to take the thing apart to apply this fix. You should be able to wedge a piece of paper between the white plastic and the metal case instead of between the circuit board and the white plastic piece. You can do that without pulling the card out. Simply slide a thin flat head screwdriver or flat blade between the metal case and white plastic to make some space, then slip the paper in between and stuff it down inside. I fixed mine this way in about 1 minute without taking anything apart.

If wedging paper inside works, I thought maybe just squeezing the outsides together might work--and it did. Just take a pair of pliers and squeeze the sides of the dongle that slide into the USB port a little closer together--Voila! It worked!

Thanks! It's also possible to slide a piece of paper between the chip and metal housing through the front of the receiver without having to remove the cap.

worked on my G900 Receiver (slightly different than the unifying one). Although I had some problems with the cap forcing the PCB to move again when trying to put it back together. Just Place some paper between the connector and the housing to keep it in place when putting it back on. Once you find the problem, it is an easy fix indeed. Thanks!

Easier method was to take a straight edge razor, the ones that come with the the thin card board around them individually. DON"T take the back of the USB receiver off. Take the razor of of it's protector and cut a piece of it small enough to fit inside the USB Receiver. Slide the razor in the front end under between the white plastic and metal frame while you take your cut piece and shimmy it in as far as possible. ( if you just get a corner started it should make it back good enough. To finish, trim off any paper sticking out.

Thanks for the tips, but in my case, the problem was not hardware, but software. Tricky Logitech has two different utilities: the one for "Unifying Receiver" and the older "Logitech Connection Utility." If one doesn't work, try the other one!

I mistakenly assumed my receiver was broken like this, too. After taking it apart and putting it back together I realized I actually just needed to use the software "Logitech Unifying Software" to pair my mouse to the receiver. 🤦‍♂️ At least mine is "future proofed" now for the plastic flaw.

Hey im having a error connecting my logitech M170 to my computer.When I go to bluetooth devices and see my mouse device under it would say “Driver Error” I’ve tried all methods such as updating the drives and uninstalling and reinstalling ext... Still! None of these seem to work now my only chance is probably this video.Tell me if it would if I do the same steps you did in this video please.

I'd like to point out that this works just fine with the Logitech G602. If you look online, eBay and Amazon, you'll find the receiver alone sells for $20-35 domestically shipped. Such a scam, for an otherwise insanely good mouse. I used 20lb boring printer paper, folded once, in the shape of the green circuit/logic board. You'll find the white plastic is a tray that accommodates the board, and I put the paper just between the board and silver wall. It'll make sense. It's that tiny extra tension that's needed. Ultimately, you don't need the paper between the white and the silver, just the board.

to anyone who is having this kind of problem...."YOU DO NOT NEED TO OPEN THE MOUSE"!. Just take a pair of pliers and apply pressure on the part which is inserted in the USB port. Don't apply too much pressure otherwise you will break the port apart.

But I avoid open it, I just put a blade razor to remove the glue, and push a piece of paper (an old visit card) on it and works perfectly =] But I just think if a piece of paper will not heat up the chip? Because maybe the glue in the metal has the propose to cooler the chip further than close it.

Rather just bend the usb metal part with plier ..it will fit the port tight and magic . Ur mouse starts working .. from 2 years u was using this Logitech mouse and all of sudden it stop recognise on laptop.. now it works fine

my usb dongle for my Logitech g pro x wireless headset stopped working is there another dongle I can purchase any help will be appreciated ( my headset keeps flashing green and I cant resync my headset to the dongle because my dongle does not have any light . Even tho the dongle makes the connect and reconnect sound when you plug it in) , this happened a year ago and I've been trying to fix it since I think I've come to a diagnosed the issue to the dongle simply not working however I don't want to soder or put it in the oven to fix the issue and help on this will be much appreciated

I didnt need to do the knife thing - he said the contact were too low and I just pushed down on it and seems to be working, hope i didnt wreck my usb port by doing that tho. It also sometimes disconnects if I touch it so I just dont put my hand there, which I don't anyway

There seems to be major flaw with these receivers and is prob the reason they were on sale, Logitech should replace the receiver for free..

Me ocurrio la falla del receptor, creo que se debe a que el circuito impreso se arquea con el uso y deja de hacer contacto correctamente. Lo he solucionado de manera similar a lo mostrado en el video, pero en vez de papel, recorte un trocito de una vieja tarjeta de credito, y de esa manera se rellena el espacio entre el circuito impreso y la carcasa metalica, con lo cual el circuito impreso ya no puede arquearse.
