These spotters need spotters.

You CAN’T convince me that there are a shortage of strong potential spotters AT A POWERLIFTING EVENT.

at 3:15 the spotter directly behind him fucked up. He trapped the guy under the weight of the bar, thats why the guy was trying to bail from underneath because he was trapped, it looked like he was convulsing. at that point you step out from behind him and just let him drop the bar on the ground

For anyone talking about the last clip where he fell out. The guy behind him is actually spotting correctly. You’re supposed to get under him and lift him up. It’s the guy on the right he had the bar to low he wasn’t strong enough. That’s why they switched him out.

In order to be a spotter at the IPF Worlds you must be under 18 and no more than 160lbs.

For anyone wondering what the last guy was doing, there was nothing wrong with him. He thought the bar was going down so he tried to lunge forward so as to avoid being crushed. The back middle spotter was completely oblivious to this for some reason and kept a grip on him. That "convulsing" was him trying to break free from his own spotter. Absolutely horrible job by these spotters. Management put the lives of all of these competitors at risk at this meet. Personally if I would've seen this sort of spotting happening before I went up I would've never gotten under the bar.

They found the sketchiest squat rack they could and decided to use it

the disappointment of not making your lift followed by the spotters who fail to to do their job would be infuriating

I once was squatting 585 lbs (265 kg) and i looked at my 19 year old maybe 160 lb left spotter thinking, how is this kid supposed to help me? I talked with the director and he said, "youll be fine, your spotters were trained and know what to do". I was confident that i could get it being below my max but i leaned forward too much and the weight fell on me, the right side went up but the kid (i dont blame him, he was giving everything he had) couldnt get it off. My two friends ran up and got the weight off after a solid 10 seconds. I got up, walked to the director and yelled as loud as i could "I FUCKING TOLD YOU YOU NEEDED TO CHANGE THE SPOTTER, THAT KID PROBABLY COULDNT DEADLIFT HALF OF WHAT YOU TOLD HIM TO FRONT SQUAT! ARE YOU ALL THIS FUCKING STUPID I COULD HAVE BROKEN MY BACK!" I got dq'd for that.

Spotting at this level requires legitimate expertise. It’s the organisers fault for just throwing together a bunch of guys who work out a little and expecting it to be safe.

Nobody gets it with last one. The guy forces the lifters lower back to bend more by lifting him up against the weight...... which is going down. Hence the spastic display

instead of trying to save the lives of their lifters, they decide to save a couple of bucks with the wonderful concept of *child labor*

Literally have CHILDREN spotting for PROFESSIONAL POWER LIFTERS. I’m quite a big guy but my no means the size of these guys, and not moving nearly the same weight. My spots in the gym are bigger, stronger and more competent.
