yeah the polish and attention in this game is weird. its very present in some places and absent in others. i feel like the devs definitely wanted to make a more impressive experience, but nintendo didnt give them the time to do it

Actually it’d be The Pokémon Company who would have made Game Freak rush the release as TPC handles all logistics when it comes to Pokémon (like planning out the release dates and making sure it keeps up with plans for merch and other media projects like the anime). Nintendo technically doesn’t even fully own Pokémon, they apparently only own like 33% of the IP, which is enough to keep it a Nintendo console exclusive but not enough to have every say it what’s done with the IP (I remember when Nintendo execs had to explain they really had nothing to do with Pokémon Go, Nintendo’s stock took a small drop because investors didn’t realize Pokémon Go profits were going to come mainly from TPC). Typically when it’s JUST Nintendo backing a project they really are fine with delays, like when Luigi’s Mansion 3 was still being worked on by their Canadian studio Next Level Games representatives from Nintendo said they wouldn’t give a release date until Next Level said the game was ready, and Platinum Games devs said Nintendo was cool with them taking all the time they needed to work on Bayonetta 3.
