À chaque fois que ma mère écoutait cette musique elle pleurait. J'ai tenu à ce que ça soit la dernière musique qu'elle écoute avant qu'elle ne monte au ciel ce matin.

Abso-damn-lutely. My favorite piece of all time, taught to me by my beloved high school teacher who passed from cancer. The score was given to me on my birthday a few years ago by my college choir director. I love this piece to death.
In the entire musical repertoire! I have experienced 30 years performing in orchestras, 50 years as a soloist, 67 years a classical music lover, and this piece is in my top 5.

À en pleurer .. J'ai également chanté cette œuvre, à Boissy SLéger, avec la chorale Francis Poulenc dirigée par Colette Chauvet à l'époque. Inoubliable !
Fabuleux ce Gabriel Fauré que je découvre. Comment est ce possible de ne pas l'avoir un minimum au programme de l'éducation nationale.... Découvrir ça à quarante ans c'est presque honteux.

Ce "Cantique de Jean Racine" est pour moi le chemin de toutes les lumières. Il ouvre toutes lignes. Il n'y a plus d'au-delà, il n'y a que l'au-delà. Le sublime est atteint.

Ce cantique de Racine a accompagné les moments forts heureux et malheureux de ma vie et que j ai eu la joie de chanter à la chorale de la Ciotat, aux choeurs de Provence et au CPM de Marseille
È una composizione stupenda che conosco da poco. È di grande dolcezza e ispirazione come sempre la musica di Faure'. I pianissimo che questo direttore ottiene dagli strumenti e dal coro, sono meravigliosi.
Toujours beaucoup d'émotion en écoutant ce superbe chant : Mes frères et sœurs et moi l'avons chanté lors de l'enterrement de nos parents... Ici, il est superbement interprété... !
J'adore le petit geste discret👌 du Chef à l'intention de l'orchestre et des choristes pour leur signifier que c'était Top... Le petit sourire entendu, la discrétion, la classe quoi La meilleure récompense sans doute pour tout ces interprètes qui passent des heures et des heures de répétition pour honorer tel qu'il se doit ce grand compositeur... un moment de pure grâce, pour le Chef d'orchestre et pour nous aussi...la musique est vraiment le langage du cœur...
Ce sourire était déjà visible depuis quelques minutes et devait stimuler musiciens et choristes à se dépasser encore plus. C'est cela la magie de la performance réussie devant un public. Avoir chanté ce cantique de Racine est pour moi un merveilleux souvenir.

I can't listen to this without remembering a most unusual thing. I am a midwife and I had a patient who was also a personal friend, and she wanted me to deliver her second baby at home. The only problem was The Concert. I was singing second alto and we both joked that she'd go into labour while I was on the platform. Well, she did. I had a soundless pager attached to my music and had just come in with first alto entry when a message flashed 'come soon, contractions every five minutes'. I had warned the conductor that this might happen, so when we got to the end of this piece, luckily it was the interval, so I hurried over and told him I had to go. Now. I arrived at my friend's house and her neighbour answered the door. She said, "Are you the midwife - because she's screaming her head off up there....." So I admitted that I was the midwife and raced upstairs. The neighbour then said "Do you always attend home births in a black evening gown?" I said, ALWAYS!!!! I bet she thought I was mad. Two hours later Grace was born. By that time I'd borrowed some jogging pants and a tee shirt as it was easier to crawl around on the floor in them, and I didn't want my one and only black evening gown to get covered in ............. well, you get the picture.
I totally agree. But I forgot one really amusing part. We're going back to the days when pagers could only print out a few words, and what actually happened was that I felt my pager vibrating, and surreptitously took a look, and it said Please come soon contractions coming every..................... and I was thinking, EVERY WHAT.............whilst still concentrating on the Faure. So, two minutes later the pager vibrated again and I sneaked another look, and it said FIVE MINUTES PHILIPPA SCREAMING. So, fortunately we'd got to the last page of the Faure and then it was the interval. I told the conductor and he thought I was joking, but I'd pre-warned him that it was a possibility, so he knew I wasn't lying. As I was running out of the concert hall, the conductor called out SHAME YOU'LL MISS SINGING THE BRUCKNER MOTETS and I called back NOT FOR ME! I'VE ALWAYS HATED THEM. At which point I ran to me car to find a phone box to tell Philippa's husband that I was on my way, and I drove like a lunatic to their house which was on the other side of London. When I got there I realised I hadn't missed the delivery because I could Philippa screaming from 100 yards down their road. The rest you know.........oh, except that she was screaming in French, because she'd been born there, and women often return to their native language in labour. (Good thing I could also speak French........) It was an honour and a privilege to deliver Grace. It is an honour and a privilege to deliver ANY baby, unless we know in advance that something is wrong with him or her. Then it's just very sad.
Le sublime est atteint, comme dans le Requiem "in Paradisum". Gabriel Fauré, qui se disait athée, est pourtant touché à 19 ans par la grâce divine et nous élève l'âme avec une telle sensibilité. Impossible de ne pas être transporté par cette musique qui nous relie au Ciel. Gabriel Fauré ne pouvait qu'espérer Dieu, pas le nier. Il ignorait qu'il avait été "choisi".Interprétation magnifique.Jacques, nous ne t'oublierons jamais.

In these days of Coronavirus the thought that such performances (by amateur choral societies) may never happen again is so confoundingly miserable. Let's hope we can again soon perform these amazing works together.
baconfluffy there have been a million deaths attributed to the virus but if Hydroxychloroquine hadn’t been banned by the medical boards across the West, most of these cases would’ve been remedied. Now the truth is coming out that putting patients on respirators has been a great error! In order to take over a person’s respirations it’s necessary to render them comatose! That should only be done as a desperate measure, in the vast majority of cases, the patients didn’t require that, and if the facts come out there’s going to be massive legal cases against hospitals and doctors for taking such unnecessary and radical action.
@@karinberryman2009 There have been studies on hydroxychloroquine that actually show worse health outcomes for those who take it. It's really sad that people have been profiting off of selling misinformation to the public. The failure to comply to CDC recommendations cause the US to have one of the highest case per capita rates in the world, and resulted in hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths. I'm a double major in chemistry and biology, and from what I can tell, the only medication that has been reliably shown to actually help with COVID-19 are the vaccinations (used as a preventative measure). I looked over the FDA report on them, and the rate of side effects was rather low, lower than the current death rate for my county (and I live in Alabama).
I love this piece of music and I think this is the loveliest rendition I’ve heard. I listen to it often. It soothes my soul. I can sleep after I’ve listened to it. We are grateful for fine musicians and singers. We would be in a dreary world without it.

I absolutely love singing this song at church! Even the words translated in English is so powerful. I always imagine my choir at church sounding like this but of course we don't. Singing the full Faure Requiem is awesome as well. Classical music is so powerful.
One of the most deeply felt, soulful pieces of music ever written. Faure got it exactly right. He understood the nuances and the power of Racine's prayer. As my eyes fill with tears listening to this, I am taken back to a student choir at Middlebury College. Not once could I get through the piece, so overcome was I by the beauty of the music, the interweaving of the vocal lines, the affective power. Thank you to whoever posted this.

The conductor actually loved the choir and musicians' work. Beautiful...usually they are so full of themselves but this one actually looked at them and was proud!!!!!! I've never seen this. WONDERFUL!
Played this beautiful piece at my fathers funeral 4 years ago. The melody haunts me and brings back that complete and absolute agony of missing someone you know has gone forever. 💖💝🧡

My absolutely favorite choral work....from when i sang it in college choir to the numerous times i have conducted choral renditions and even as arranged for handbells and piano! This a wonderful!!!interpretive performance.

I've always heard and performed this performed with an organ accompanying, but the full orchestra is so outstanding. This is just awesome.
Fantastic performance, the first 10 seconds of the conductors facial expressions signify the enormous obligations he has to himself, the audience, the choir, the orchestra and to Faure|s exceptional composition. The best version of this piece IMO.
