Faust - The Faust Tapes 1973 Krautrock, Experimental - Full Album 320kbps audio quality
Faust is an influential German band known for their unique blend of avant-garde, experimental, and electronic music. They emerged in the late 1960s and became an essential part of the underground music scene, particularly in the 1970s and 1980s. Faust's innovative approach to music, characterized by their unconventional instruments, sound manipulation techniques, and unsettling lyrics, has made them a favorite among fans of avant-garde and experimental music.
One notable album by Faust is THE FAUST TAPES, released in 1973. This album is a compilation of various recordings, experiments, and live performances. It was initially released as a promotional giveaway with a music magazine in the United Kingdom, and its unorthodox nature contributed to its iconic status.
THE FAUST TAPES features a collage-like structure, blending different musical elements, sound effects, spoken word samples, and experimental improvisations. The album represents Faust's inclination towards deconstruction and experimentation, as they pushed the boundaries of what was considered conventional music at the time.
With its unconventional track sequencing, unpredictable transitions, and fragmented nature, THE FAUST TAPES challenged traditional song structures. By incorporating tape loops, field recordings, and various audio manipulations, the album created a surreal and chaotic atmosphere.
THE FAUST TAPES had a significant impact on the underground music scene, inspiring and influencing many artists across various genres. Its innovative and boundary-pushing approach to music remains a testament to Faust's avant-garde spirit.

Text panel at the top of the front cover:
"The music on this album, drawn from Faust's own library of private tapes, was recorded informally and not originally intended for release. However, since British interest in the group has been unusually great, it has been decided to make some of this unofficial material available to the public in this country. These tapes have been left exactly as they were recorded - frequently live - and no post-production work has been imposed on them. The group wish to make it clear that this is not to be regarded as their third album, but a bonus release - on sale at the current price of a single - to mark their signing with Virgin Records, for whom they will shortly be recording their next official album. The Faust Tapes reveals Faust at their most personal and spontaneous. It's a unique glimpse behind the scenes of a group which European and British critics have hailed as one of the most exciting and exploratory in the world. Virgin Records"
The rest of the front cover text is made out of press quotes from: Best, Rock & Folk, Sounds, Disc, Extra, Pop Music, and New Musical Express.
Black & white 'twins' Virgin labels indicate Side One and Side Two without any track titles, some parts were specified on later reissues.

I discovered Faust from the first album. When this was released at the price of a single, I bought it straight away. Still love this as there are some amazing extracts included.

Two statements: 1 - pure genius; and 2 - lysergic acid diethylamide.

this type of music, while important, is not music to play when you have company over. I really wish my annoying hipster friend would figure that out.

I really WISH someone had played this stuff for me years before I discovered Faust in about 1990. I would've discovered one of my favorite bands years earlier!
