this was a great tutorial and very professional . I would like to know what style bracket do you attached the faux roman shade to above the window. I could not tell based the angle of the video, I so love it to be attached wider than the window frame because I will have mini blinds mounted inside the window frame. Does the shade attached directly on on the window frame or what?

Two questions after watching 1. I do not see an answer about how to mount?? 2. I did not hear anything telling me the dimensions of piece to cut to wrap the board?? I would really appreciate these pieces of info. Thanks

Good video but I did not see any portion that talked about the size of fabric that was used to cover the board(Not the side ears), but the other fabric . Also, how do you mount the shade?

Like others I am hoping you have a quick minute to let us know how your customers install the board for an ouside mount. Does it screw directly into the wall/ceiling or do you use a bracket of some kind? Thank you for the great tutorial!

Hi Mary! You do not have to have the side flaps that wrap around the edges of the board! These faux Roman shades are being mounted outside the window frame and the flaps help hide the mounting hardware. Thanks, Scott

Hi Scott. I followed the video but then realized my friend wanted the shade to have a 1” reveal at the bottom, then two 3 inch reveals (folds) with a total length of 22”. I can’t for the life of me figure out my ring placement to make this happen. Please help! Thanks so much!

Ok I hope you can answer this question. I’ve followed you step by step but wanted my finished a little longer. Is it ok to only have 2 folds (3rows of rings) I’m looking at it and I think I want more header showing. Will it look weird?
@dorisrichardson2688
@dorisrichardson2688 3 года назад
Scott, thank you so much for this 2 part video. I'm working on same following your well thought out presentation. My valance is longer...46" cut length. I'd like my folds to be a little wider, about 1 1/2" ea (a scale thing), but my attempts to do so haven't worked. I did a mock of your measurements for the ring and folds placement, and see they end up close together when pulled up with the clip ring. Are your measurements the key to making it work? I've seen images on line of wider folds like mine but now wondering if perhaps they are sewn. I appreciate any comments you have.

Doris: Did you ever figure out the measurement/placement of the rings for a deeper fold? Or did you end up sewing the folds in place to achieve the desired effect?

@lexitejeda6209
@lexitejeda6209 3 года назад
I don't understand how you are clipping all the rings on each row. It looks like you use the split rings on the bottom row of rings only, then you bring up row by row and I don't know what you are doing to keep clipping each row.

I'm confused by the measurements for the rings. You have 4" then 6 1/2" then 5" then 5." In trying this, it seems like my last two folds are even rather than staggered. Should the last measurement be 3 1/2?
@Factorydirectdesignersworkroom
@Factorydirectdesignersworkroom 3 года назад
Yes the last 2 are 5” and 5” and when you hang it you will see it does stagger do to the weight.

Is there a way to do this that doesn't involve staples, so it is easier to clean?
@lexitejeda6209
@lexitejeda6209 3 года назад
You could sew in a pocket at the top, and mount it using a tension rod. However I'm not sure about laundering with all the rings. Might work on a gentle cycle.

I made one a long time ago and I added velcro to the board and hemmed top of the shade
@joannesmith7744
@joannesmith7744 2 года назад
Sew Velcro on the fabric side on top edge. ( that will attach the lining at same time) Fold velcro portion back and attach to a board with Velcro stapled along the very top edge of board. My board screwed on to wall. Not much return on mine, depends what you like. This way can come down for cleaning.

what do you do when the fabric is 60" wide and the shade needs to measure 79".
@kathrynashby4593
@kathrynashby4593 Год назад
Barbara, I've had this situation before. In fact, I ran into this situation just this week with a very geometric fabric. I ended up buying enough fabric to use the length of fabric rather than the width. If you can't do this way (I think it's called "railroading"), then buy enough fabric to use one 60" width for a centered section (call that section "A"), and then split another 60" width into 2 sections (Sections "B" and "C"). Then sew one split section "B" onto the left end of center section "A", and the other split section "C" onto the right end of center section "A." Then you can cut down the total width for your 79" window treatment. Personally, I prefer a balanced look when splicing sections together. If 79" is your finished width, then I would make the center section A to be 55" finished width, and the two outer sections "B" and "C" to each be 12" wide finished. Thus, 55+12+12=79". If you use the entire 60" width for your center section A, then each of your side sections will be narrower than I would personally want. Maybe draw it out to scale first to see what you prefer. Good luck!
@Factorydirectdesignersworkroom
Good question! What we do is seam match (if print fabric) 1/2 width on each side of the full width and then we trim off the excess evenly on both ends. For example 9-1/2”/60”/9-1/2”= 69”. of course you need to add for seam allowances and side hems. You will need to do the same with the lining and center the seams to the shade fabric the best you can since the lining is going to be narrower in width. Good luck!
