Michelle from Lab Muffin Beauty science & Dr Dray have some good posts/videos on the % zinc spf question that I would recommend checking out. Long story short: sun protection is much more based on even distribution/spread of the active ingredient & its ability to form a film- not the % zinc itself. For example, baby diaper creams are *loaded* w zinc oxide (20-30%) but offer zero sun protection. It can be tempting to get caught up in the numbers, but cosmetic formulations, as I understand it, are so much greater than just the sum of their individual ingredients. That Australian Gold also has a PA rating of like 4+, so it’s been tested to have excellent protection, which is awesome too.

@@noneofurbusiness5223 interesting to know. I meant more that it doesn’t offer protection like a sunscreen would, not that it doesn’t have any at all. I maybe should have phrased that differently. I was more trying to make the point that zinc content is not the only thing that determines sun protection or lack thereof.

I have been shocked by the prices of the L'Oreal and Olay skincare products! Most in the jars are around $30, which I don't consider that amount to be a "drugstore" price! I have found some Bondi Sands sunscreens, especially the one for the face, to be more affordable!

The Australian gold tinted mineral sunscreen has been a favorite for years! I can’t find anything I like better! ❤ I’m super fair and it is a bit dark on its own which is unfortunate. It work under makeup. I wore it on vacation a few years ago to the beach. It definitely protected my face. I burned everywhere but my face!

I’m obsessed with that Cocokind Ceramide Barrier Serum. Even last summer when my skin was absolutely losing it with allergic reactions I was able to use it to heal my angry skin. So good!

I hear ya. I want to feel like I am putting a ton of moisture on my extremely dry skin. Heck I can glob Vaseline on my face before bed and sometimes still feel dry in am since I’m so dry.

In addition to the lactic acid, the Cocokind Skin Barrier Serum also contains gluconolactone, which is a PHA exfoliator. With my extremely sensitive skin, I can use this serum just once a week. And I use it more as a PHA/AHA serum.

Also thank you for covering a lot of bodycare and skincare, truly it's the most important taking care of your Canvas... / We have a brand of skincare up here in Canada ( Canadian made ) called Reversa, they have Vitamin C cream that's been a game changer for me - it's fantastic, easily the most notable difference I've ever seen with a product.

The reason you don't want to look at the % zinc oxide on the tube is because it's an ingredient concentration, not the overall concentration. Product A could have 20% zinc oxide listed as the active ingredient, but if it's only a small amount of the formulation, the overall concentration of zinc oxide in the final product will be small. Product B with 5% zinc oxide listed as an active ingredient could have a larger amount of that ingredient in the formulation and it's overall concentration will be higher than product A. They aren't required to put the final concentration on the label, just the ingredient concentration. So, you should go by the SPF or P+ rating and look at the amount of research that company does on their formulation rather than the % ingredient used in the mix. Other things that affect the SPF rating are whether it's micro or nano particles and whether there are non-active skin protectants in the ingredients list.

Great video! That Australian Gold tinted SPF 50 fair to light is my summertime Holy Grail sunscreen. I have melasma and I can be in the Sun for hours with no problem when I use that one. It is super waterproof which is awesome. The shade is too dark when I'm fair in the winter though. That sunscreen has iron oxides which contribute to sun protection. It's definitely for oily skin though it can be drying but that's perfect because I'm super oily and I find it mattifying throughout the day.

Hi Taylor! I think if you like the Neutrogena Sensitive Skin Serum foundation, you should definitely try the Jason Wu Tinted Moisturizer Meets CC Cream. I apply it with a brush and it provides light to medium coverage. It also has a natural finish. It is one of the smoothest looking complexion products I have ever put on my face. Highlight recommend it!!

I love that AG sunscreen that you showed. I recently got it and I wore it in the rain. When I looked I found out that it was waterproof. It doesn't smudge and lasts all day on my oily skin when I set it with powder and setting spray. It's beautiful and matte. I haven't seen a lot of RU-vidrs reviewing it. Thanks for the video!

The AG sunscreen is tested to have a ppd of 19.2. That’s really good for a mineral sunscreen. The formulation has tons of antioxidants which helps to boost the protection. It’s my fave mineral sunscreen. Also the ingredients are just listed in alphabetical order now. Same formula.

I have the same issue with Australian Gold Sunscreen. I don’t think it provides enough protection. I used it on a beach for a week, and came back home with horrible melasma flare up. Next vacation I used Canmake clear gel UV - no melasma at all

I really wanted to love the Australian Gold sunscreen but as someone with skin on the dry side it felt like I was applying a clay mask. Imo a better option for a matte mineral sunscreen is Babo Botanicals daily sheer fluid tinted mineral sunscreen. It’s a much thinner consistency but still has a matte finish.

Have you tried the peach and lily body scrub? It's comparable to versed in price/oz. I wonder how they compare. I have tried the first aid beauty scrub and peach and lily and peach and lily is my favorite out of those two. I hate the bumps on my legs but P&L seems to have helped.

I can't even imagine what your pillow case looks like if you wear such a heavy moisturizer overnight! I've never had a moisturizer, ever, sink in. I know I need to see a derm b/c I have to powder my face every single night, otherwise my pillow case sticks to my face, my hair sticks to my face... it's weird. Even serums and my SPFs don't set down. Luckily I wear a powder foundation so that takes care of the issue. I can't imagine what it would feel like to have something sink into my skin. Me: weird. Yes. I know.
