Good to know that you don't mind me watching, and re-watching, your videos for inspiration and encouragement Lol! Can I just say that yes, art is definitely your gift, but your spiritual gift is how you present it....not just the art itself. Sandi! You have re-ignited my faith and my faith in humans, in addition to my art. Just sayin'.
OMG! I must have laughed for 5 minutes when you talked about painting guns. Oh, I love you so, Sandy. YOu could have edited this part out, but left if in. You are so down to earth real. ❤❤❤
Sandi, proof that sneaking into the past, your past videos, teaches me so much! The big Ole Derwent black book...I've been hunting for a good, biiig, black paper sketchbook! And I found one on Amazon. All others were from other countries. And it wasn't too much $. AND, your examples of using it have inspired me to get my gouache out. Also, about your substack, I am happily gobbling it up. But I watch it without the app --- for me, I just have enough apps, I can't handle too many because I get too distracted. 😅 I am so looking forward to your publication of your sketchbooks --- some day! I know how long it takes to produce a book. Thank you for all you share (and for free) --- the immense donation of your time, your Work, is a gift, and I count it as a blessing. (Grrr on those recent grumpy comments on your latest RU-vid video!!!) Grrr and hisses! :)
You're welcome Melanie! I'm a new channel so I don't have many people watching yet but I have had some people reach out to via Instagram to tell me they will be checking several of the things out that I mentioned so hopefully you will get some activity from it!
How interesting that you are talking about having zero self control with some of your fav you tubers because I found your channel 4 days ago and I'm binge watching your videos and am obsessed!!! Love your sweet funny personality and as I just got back into painting after a 35 yr hiatus I'm loving your whole style and approach to painting!! Thanks for being my fav Inspo xx
Bethany, thank you! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the channel!!! I replied to your comment and then something happened to it - so if you get two responses that’s why. Thank you for writing and thank you for the kind worlds!!
New subscriber here, just binge watching all of your videos ☺️. One of my favorite RU-vidrs is Minnie Small. Young Londoner who is so very talented, yet full of questions & vulnerabilities like the rest of us humans. I love that she's so open and shares both her joy & insecurities thru vlogs, paint with me's, etc. She's gotten pretty big now, so there's some sponsored videos in there too, but delivered with class & in a voice I could listen to all day. Favorite materials: watercolor, acrylic & canvas. Just trying gouache & im kinda digging it! So that Flashe paint you mentioned definitely has me interested. Thanks for sharing!!! ❤️
Dee, love that you're binge watching - yahoo!!! That means the world to me because that means your enjoying them - sooooo encouraging! I'm quite familiar with Minnie - she's got a great channel!!! I would describe Flashe paint like gouache and acrylic had a baby. Thanks for another great comment - LOVE getting comments from my viewers!
It's Sunday night and I have to wake up early for work. I'm grateful my commute is 10 feet to my desk because I've been binge watching your channel all day. I tell myself not to click, but here I am 😁 I really need to go to bed 🤗
I’ve been binge watching chamberlain painting on RU-vid. His videos are great, so calming and great info. I also like Ian Robert mastering composition and In the Studio with Diane Mize, she is truly a treasure.
Would love to see an updated favorites video if you have any! Or also supplies that stood as tried and true favorites/things you consistently repurchase. I'm itching to get to the art store 😅
Thank you so much for sharing! This was such a great video. I tend to watch many Small and lately Sarah Burns. I like listening to the Sneaky Artists podcast as well. Love your videos.
Kyle Martin Paintings they’re the best! Noticed you have a channel as well - looking forward to checking it out! Thanksgiving taking time to watch and comment!
One of the best videos for recommendations! love love, so glad I already follow or know those people you refer...guess I must be in the 'know' right,,,haha...thanks again such a wealth of information Sandi!
Love your videos. Thank you so much for all you share. I am inspired consistently by only a few artists. With your videos, I always learn something interesting whether it’s your thinking out loud as an artist, or the way you gather inspiration from your own art, or just seeing the variety of subjects you tackle and even the variety of color themes and layouts!! Oh, and the way you combine mediums- and layer- it’s just all very inspiring and has helped me to actually use my expensive art supplies that I haven’t touched! I really just thought of several more things I could list, but this post is probably longer than you have time to read…lol. Thank you for sharing so much great info. Just wish you lived closer!
First of all, I love your videos!!! Your studio is gorgeous too, so colorful and interesting, just like you! I’m into painting and mixed media arty stuff and love learning from you. I think the Flash paint description meant using the paint actually in a paint gun not on a gun, I think? Anyways, keep up your awesome videos and our peek into your art days in your studio, let alone your art store visits!❤️
Only in US you can hear someone talking about "painting your guns" in a literal sense... Anyways, love your videos! If you liked Polychromos, you should try the Albrecht Dürer line, it's water colourable!
Thank YOU so much. I’m new to your channel, and after the first video i looked to see how many you had. I didn’t want it to be all over in an hour. *hah* So I totally understood you saying you should hold back but you couldn’t. Your RU-vid channel is a breath of fresh paint!! (And air) :):)
Awe - thank you so much for this kind comment! First of all, WELCOME!!! So glad to have you here! and I'm thrilled you're enjoying the content! Thank you for taking time to let me know you're enjoying it!
OMG, You're talking about mispronounced names of art supplies and I am busy looking up SPLASHE PAINT wondering why I can't find it. I getcha. It's like we're sharing the same brain. I just blame it on my broken brain. Meh 🤦♀️🤷♀️🤣 I honestly love watching you, you always have me in stitches.
I love all your videos, you have such enthusiasm, have you found the art juice podcast yet with Louise Fletcher and Alice Sheridan? Great art conversations
OMGosh Sandi! I'm new here but I have fallen h-a-r-d for you and this channel! (I'm wondering if my husband might be a bit upset because it's been PB & J for dinner all week). I'm an art journaler but wish I could actually paint. On a side note, I'm really good at making blobs though ;) Thank you so much for this channel and your content, you're such an inspiration!
Stacy, thank you so much and WELCOME!!! I’m so happy to have you here!! Sooo, has hubby been eating PB &J because you’ve been watching videos and painting?!?!? Thank you for writing. I put out a new video each Friday so a new one this afternoon 🤗
@@sandihester Yes, he is eating PB&J because I am watching your videos instead of making dinner lol. Not quite that bad but close, hehe. I'm ready for a new video. I'm not quite an artist as much as I want to be, Your ideas have me inspired though
Stillman & Burn is my favorite sketchbook- I’m looking forward to trying out that flashe paint at some point! I like the idea of gouache but it dries too fast and acrylic is too transparent for me. I’ve been binge watching John Muir Laws videos get breaks down drawing and capturing fast when nature journaling.
Elin, you totally should try the Flash - all my artist friends who've tried it love it! I haven't heard of John Laws - looking forward to checking him out! I'm working on a sketchbook flip video now and it has a ton of my Flashe paintings in it so you will be able to see the beautiful flatness and colors in that video.
I love your videos! Your way of showing things, especially the size, cracks me up. Your style is so fun and inspiring. Can I ask what you use between the pages in your sketchbook? Is it just acid free tissue paper maybe? I'm trying to figure out how to limit smudging and transferring in my sketchbook. I love the Stillman & Birn Alpha too!
I use wax paper (from the kitchen) but recently bought several types of fixatives - I’ll be telling y’all soon what I think of them. Thank you for your kind words!
LOVED this video! My style of measuring... But,... how tall are you? Are you normal-sized, a bit smaller or a bit taller? 😏 What Is normal-sized?!! 🤔 I was chuckling so much I nearly peed myself! 🤣
Ur so awesome. Love ur face!!! Ok….some of my favs….do u know of Boku undo watercolor paints? Dark and muted ….lovely! I’m from India ..and I looked up flashe paints coz of you….bummer…it’s not available here,….or are prohibitively expensive. So I tried to unbreak my heart …and checked out some Matt mediums…..ha ha ha.
I really loved this video! I want to try flashe paint, never did. Maybe you will enjoy to know a bit about some artists that I like: Ekaterina Popova, Cinta Vidal, Jennifer Allevato, Natasha Newton, Genine Zlatkis, Zyra Bañez, Sara Faber and Happy D. Artist ❤️
You said, with Flashe, "you can make it thick" -- can you tell me what you would add to thicken it? I'm guessing there's a Golden acrylic medium I'm not thinking of.
I have a whole video on my favorite colors and in that video I share my favs in Flashe paint. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GYoMIQRgwxE.html here's the link
I’m loving many, but two of my latest favorite RU-vidrs are Thea, who has two channels Her Billowing Heart and Heirloom Lux. You will be enchanted by both channels! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8TEzHFbTeIU.html And Alex Curly, with the groovy hair...🤭😊 His first video is amazing! He makes his own paint! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FNPWkCOTxYk.html
