Some great books! I also really enjoyed the Chysalids and Left Hand of Darkness. Wrong Place Wrong Time sounds really intriguing, I will make a note of it
Ahhh so many good books and ones I want to get to! Chain Gang All Stars is also on my favorites, and of course LeGuin is a perpetual fave. I really want to get to A Pinch of Magic, Some Kind of Spark, and Wrong Place Wrong Time this year once I'm back to using the library.
Glad to see Left Hand of Darkness on top. Keeping a glossery for that book is a great idea. My favorite read this year was Never Cry Wolf by Farley Mowat. Non-fiction which was surprising
Great list! I’m so intrigued by Chain Gang All Stars but I’m kind of a wimp when it comes to brutality. And one of my goals for the new year is to read Ursula K Le Guin. Have you read anything else by her?
I definitely think its worth it. It's definitely not gratuitous and our horror is part of the point. Love Le Guin. Yes, I've also read The Lathe of Heaven. (I talked about it in my November Wrap Up.) It is more accessible than The Left Hand of Darkness. I'm planning to read some more from her this year.
Have you watched the Expanse TV show? I've never read the books, but I have seen the show up through the fifth season. If so, how well does the content compare between the two?? Oooooo The Left Hand of Darkness. I read this for a book club a long time ago, I don't think it's stayed with me very much but I do want to try more Ursula Le Guin!
Yes, I'm on season 5 on the Expanse. I'm hoping to binge the rest before Amazon adds ads on Jan 29th. It's a fairly faithful adaptation but a bit abridged because the books go to 9 but the show ends at book 6. I definitely want to check out more of Le Guin as well so maybe we could buddy read them.
