I came across an older video of yours. About 3 years I bought a couple kayaks for my son and I and for the most part we have gone fishing and just ended up kayaking. So I have gradually been gearing up and getting more serious about fishing .... raised on a lake the salt water game is just a bit different than what I am used to so I have had to transition. Went to Mission Bay last week and got skunked ... knowing its a bit colder I am still driven to get out there and hook up while learning from great videos like yours are really giving me the bug to consistently get some lines in the water. Thank you ... keep the vids coming!!
Happy Birthday Rodney!!🎈🎉 I’m fairly new to your channel but I can tell you this, you have such personality, and happiness, love for the sport of fishing that you don’t see with other channels out there. And there are a lot of them! You always make it about the love and fun which makes it so addictive to watch. Other channels make it about look at me look at what I can do. Keep up the great work Rodney best wishes.
Subscribed. Keep rockin' it dude. SD salt fishing noob here. Trying my luck at Agua Hedionda in Carlsbad soon. I'll be heading down that way one of these days. Cheers!
Went fishing for the first time in 4.5 months two days ago cause of quarantine and school. Nothing like catching legal sized spotties in carlsbad after waiting that long.
Thank you Rodney! I used a bottom spin rig with gulp Nuclear Chicken color curtly tail grubs to catch a bunch of spotties around Vacation Isle this morning! I have a Hobie Mirage Sport kayak. I drifted over eel grass, letting the bottom rig tick along the top of the grass. I tried multiple colors and they wanted the Nuclear Chicken (orange and green) today.
Awesome video. I moved out of SD 3 years ago and I really miss both SD Bay and Mission Bay. I use to love to hit up around the Coronado bridge our around the coast guard pier that’s up against the air base. And Happy Birthday!
You seem like such a cool dude and great fisherman Rodney! I’ve really gained confidence in using the gulp mullet in saltwater thank you for putting out these videos!

Great video brother! I'll hopefully be going out next weekend to do some offshore fishing with a friend who had a boat. If you ever want to go, let me know! I know he likes to depart from San Diego and Dana Point. Keep up the GREAT work. 🤙🤙
Hey Rodney, great videos brotha. Always love coming to your channel for some advice and expertise on fishing San Diego. I'm a local here to and love to fish at any given chance. I've been mostly fishing piers, like OB pier, IB pier, Coronado Ferry Landing etc. I just got my fishing license this year. I wanted to ask you, what are some your favorite spots to fish (other than piers) here in SD?? I've been mostly targeting Halibut and Spotties. But any hot spot would be appreciated just to hone my skills as a fisherman. Thanks again for the info, and keep bringing us those awesome vids!
Happy belated birthday, I’m in SoCal and looking for a little help on access points for fishing halibut, here with my son and trying to find someone to fish with and show us the ropes!! Please respond when you can!! Have a great day.
Rodney Marquez I’m going to back in San Diego fishing Saturday morning if you need someone to fish with, probably will be on mission beach if I can with my son, then we going for bluefin on Sunday. Keep up the great videos, we love them !
Hey there, watched a couple of the videos and I I am stoked. Definitely subscribed.. I recently bought a kayak and am slowly starting to modify it so I can go out fishing. In your opinion, what is a good rod and reel combo for initial buy? what brands/model should I get for general bay fishing from the kayak, with occasional pier fishing as well. I also live in San Diego. Thanks so much and advance
