I was also a collector in the 90s. I got wrapped up in the whole bad girls comics. For me Vampirella was the big draw, but I also loved Lady Death. I managed to get Lady Death's 1st appearance for about $20 at that time. Now I still collect a lot of bad girl comics like Zombie Tramp.
I LOVE this list! I myself have a ton of indie comics that I fell in love with! Also Im a huge Crow fan and wow that TMNT 4 signed is so amazing! Just subscribed!
@@ComicVantage So do I! I love to collect indie comic books especially from companies that I am not familiar with! Even if they aren't necessarily worth much they are some of my favorite books in my collection! So cool to see another collector of awesome indie books, and also other great books!
In my opinion that's the way you do it. It has really nothing to do with the price of a book but the love and appreciation for the creative process. Awesome books and amazing video. Thanks
Very cool collection you have there. I wish my collection was so cool. But then again, only have collecting a couple of months. I guess the Deadpool movie was the reason why I started. Found a 1$ copie of first Domino as Neena Thurman. Very cool book in my opinion. Also got the first solo Zatanna, waiting for a live movie to hit. 😊

@ 23:25 Spawn #9, I seen it at a store once and it was $20 so I didn't pick it up. I don't know if all Spawn comics are expensive but the store I went to doesn't seem to have much. @ 26:00 that looks a lot like Korn's Follow The Leader album. Have you ever read any Elementals comic books? They're these people that have died and come back to life and have powers of the elements of the earth. There's a bunch of issues and the art is usually really good. The company that used to make them was Comico.
That is a bit expensive for that book. Should be half that price. It does look at like it. But I'm pretty sure the kids that drew it was hugely influenced by Todd McFarlane. The guy who drew that album cover. And I do remember that series. But sadly never read it. Think I'll have to check it out!
Uncanny X-Men #165 was my first issue of X-Men I ever bought. Bought it on the stands as it was coming out. Because of this, Paul Smith is my favorite X-Men artist and his run of X-Men is my favorite (even though I have most of the Byrne and later Cockrum issues too now).
That man was heading to be the next big thing on X-Men. I love his artwork. I have a small sketch from him in my sketchbook and other pro artist always stop and look at it. They all just love it as well!
I 1st encountered TMNT via the role playing game, I guess the comics must have come before that though. Cool to see your top 50, some nice books there and cool to hear some of your stories of meeting artists/art etc
@@thegreyman oh it was hard, don't get me wrong! Had to cut some books I didn't want to cut. But it really did give me a perspective on my collection!!
Yeah no I just wouldn't even know where to start at all. I have recently started collecting my 'birthday books' which are books that came out the same time as me September 1969, so I suppose I'd have to put those in there, but after that.... nope no clue! Also by far the hardest thing would be to actually locate any books that I could think of!!
I like that you have your own unique taste in comics. So many collectors on RU-vid have the same freaking comics! “First appearance of Deadpool.” Yeah, ok we get it. Everyone has that comic! This is a breathe of fresh air. 👍
WOW - where to start? No big books - are you kidding me lol? My highlights: Turtles 4 signed by the 2 big boys of the book. An absolute steal at that price. I am a big Artgerm fan - I hadn't seen that Vampire D before, just incredible. 9.8 oh go on then. I have been looking online for a copy of Letter 44 for the longest time as it has been optioned, and of course you have a signed variant!. I have that Turok book!. I am always happy to see that. I think there is a video game on that title. Between me and Ethan, we don't have either of the X-Men books you showed. That is rare lol. I have Marvel Comics Presents 85 but not 84. To think a print was $30,000!. I got that Prophet 6 when I ordered issue 2. So much detail. That is so interesting that it proved his downfall. I have heard that before, in particular with Anime artists. 1st Lobo - say no more. Signed by Wolfman. I love my copy, but I love yours just a little more. To think I left mine on a bus and someone handed it in. I got very lucky. Lobo could be as big as Deadpool if done right. Instead they stick him in the Krypton Tv show?!?. Venom Lethal Protector 1 is a classic. I found my beat up copy at a carboot for £1. The series should have a nice spike with the movie. More Artgerm brilliance with that GI Joe cover. Just so much talent. Zinnober 1 - just stunning, I have seen that before lol. I have Generation X 1. It is just missing a sig!. I can't find that 1st Gabby anywhere in the UK. - So jealous lol. I have issue 1 of that series Love that X-Men 11 2nd print - what a book to have. I have to Spawn 9's and 2 Age of Ultron 10s. I am like you and see quite a lot of potential in Angela. She is brutal in the new Asgardians series. I have Darker Image - of course you out do me again!. $40 for a sig is crazy. Great to see that Creed book. Mine will never leave my collection. Epic Evil Ernie tale. Man - Catwoman 51, now there is a book. I have looked everywhere in the wild for one of those. Did you know that the numbers that she is holding are shown in the Lost Tv show so many times. Woah - Adam Hughes sounds like a fool. I just read a "Silent issue" this week. Unbeatable Squirrel Girl 36. It was a very interesting concept using a Librarian Ghost. Ah X-Men volume 2. I picked up that hologram 25 for a couple of quid a two years ago. Your X-Men signed books had me drooling. I have my Uncanny 266 signed by Mike Collins (pencils) - yep that is as good as it gets over here lol. Superb video with great stories. Sorry for rambling mate. Epic.
Ha! I was waiting for this one!! That turtles 4 is a gem in my collection! I'm a Vampire Hunter D and Artgerm fan so that book was amazing to find! Ive got a few copies of letter 44 signed, now! There are a couple Turok video games out. Dates all the way back to the Nintendo 64. I have that entire run of marvel comics presents weapon X story. I have so many great memories around it. Oh! That wasnt a print for 30K that was the real deal original Barry Windsor Smith cover art! Stephen Platt was amazing, everything he touched turned to gold. Trouble was he knew it and became somewhat of a diva. You need to get instagram so you could have seen my 4 copies of Lethal Protector I showed recently! Thank you so much for the Zinnober! I love it and will never part with it! I got so lucky with that first Gabby and wish I had bought more copies! I didnt start collecting till that book had been out for 6 months, but my LCS still had copies on the wall! I will keep an eye for a decent price copy for you! Darker Image just screams 90's to me and I have to own it. It will look really good framed and with Lee and Kieth signatures on them. Angela is such a great character. Definitely read her spawn run and original image miniseries. She was a different character all together! That catwoman, just wow is all I have to say. I cant stop staring at it. Had no idea about the numbers and I loved that show! Sin City Silent Night is so cheap to buy and amazing to own. You'll gain a new respect for Frank Miller with that one. 266 to me is almost complete and those sigs I have wanted to do for such a long time!! Ramble on! I love it! Thanks for always watching!
I do love my collection. Allot of people think I have a TON of books. But I keep my collection contained to 2 short boxes. All with a story. Thank you for the comment!
Love seeing the chaos comics on your list. My dad was a big chaos fan. Every convention he went to he had a stack of books for Brian to sign. Even got Brian to come to his house and sign all his figures and books. Just felt like sharing. Really cool videos keep it up.
Can't go wrong with Jim Lee's art. Which LCS is your go to place? I'll be taking a long drive from NorCal to Vegas in December. Btw, how come you don't get this signed books graded?
My go to place is Torpedo comics, a definite must visit! Then also check out Maximum comics. As for grading. Alot of time when I grade it's only for resale. So when a book isn't graded it's because I think the grading fee is going to kill any profit so it's not worth it Or if the book is just for me, I won't grade allot of the time
Thanks. I am a gen-x myself too. Last time I picked up a comic book was 1993 and didn't pick one up again until 2012. Didn't leave the hobby because of the crash, but was a broke college student. I checked out Torpedo online and that place looks very fancy in there. Definitely going to visit both stores and also Cosmic Comics .
lol no big book and my holy grail/im an idiot and i passed on it in xmen 266 i was close to getting it at 50 now its going for over 100...self face palm. Really enjoying your videos. We seem like similar collector to me so that helps to. Keep up the videos love the hunts and the box reveals. Ive lent out books i loved to show friends and never seen em. Steve hueghs was a great artist RIP your lobdell story reminds me of when i met Chris Claremont...which meeting that legend was one of the coolest moments of my life. I told him i really loved his exiles run and the love he showed chars he didnt even create. He seemed to really appreciate it and we had a pretty good conversation. he said something like "Im glad some one liked it" I am a huge Deadpool fan and that issue of X-force #45/46 ? got me to become a deadpool fan for life before everyone loved it. i went from a wolverine fan like everyone else at the time to a die hard deadpool fan. And its insane to think this char i was obsessed with and no one cared about is this cultural icon. You bring up these artists you like Stephen Platt, Sam Keith, Jae Lee etc. so cool these are guys i love their crazy expressive styles. i remember hunting down all the sam keith i could and getting half of the max in single issues half in trades. These videos are so great at bringing up why i love collecting why i love comics. I've been on a brett booth/backlash kick myself lately...gotta love them 90s. I drew X-Men 11's cover on my bed room wall when i was a kid hah. Keep up the awesome videos thanks for recommending this one huge like for these.
266 was the first "big" book I bought. Way back in the 90's, paid 35$ for it. I was so happy!! I've come across Claremont twice now. It's always great seeing him, he really loves to talk! I'm glad these videos are keeping you entertained!! Next up! My top 10 gimmick covers off the 90's!
@@ComicVantage I think my first big book i bought for a lot was the end of the pheonix saga for 20 i dont think ive ever broke 20 for a single book(I have books that are worth more then that but never paid more then that for a single). my buddy does flea markets all the time and about ten years ago he found new mutants 98 for 75 cents now that bad boy is signed by liefeld and niceza and is my prized possession lol.
His Darth Vader run is amazing! And when you read Curse Words you can tell he had fun writing it. But hands down Letter 44. Just trust me. Buy the trades. You'll love it
@@ComicVantage thanks! I'm wavering back and forth getting mine cracked for him in December. Most of the people I ask say do it, but the few who said not to have planted that seed of doubt in my mind. I probably will now.
