These are true gems that have never died. They are still going strong in a market overloaded with continous new releases.
If you looking for something different try sampling some vintage fragrances.
Keep in mind back in the days people usually only owned one or two bottles of perfumes and they were typically worn for special occasions. Therefore they were constructed to have a classy/sophisticated smell.

It's so sad that these fragrance houses don't keep to the original DNA without reformulating them because growing up I remember my mother smelling so good and she had alot of vintage fragrances.

Intmate edt by Jean Phillipe, is a vinage fragrance, launched in 1955. It smells so expensive, and it didn't cost much. It's hard to find now, so I'm glad I have back up bottles.

Now in my 50s, I’ve been a scent hoarder since I was old enough to buy my own perfume. I can tell you you’re 100% correct about scents becoming more synthetic. Between cost, sustainability, ethics, various other IFRA regulations, and simply cutting corners, so many reformulations of classic scents are barely recognizable -this is not to mention the quality of modern frags. Example Elizabeth Taylor’s Passion, the first true Celebrity scent (always a heady one), used to smell like a spicy/bergamot and incense twist on Dior’s Poison. Now the two smell nothing alike, their paths having strayed from one another in subsequent iterations. In fact it no longer retains the qualities which propelled it to popularity, while at least Poison still has that rich plum vibe. Thankfully I learned early on to stow my frags away in a safe dark place when they get down to less than 1/5 a bottle or so. This way you can always go back and compare or have a little stash should it become discontinued and therefore too expensive to collect.

Well written love... so much truth in your words... I'm glad someone sees what I'm pointing out... everything was better in the earlier days of perfumery... probably not safe but guaranteed everyone could smell you coming a mile away... lol

I’m 54 and kick myself every day I think about what I gave away or decluttered because those exact ones were either discontinued or reformulated- some are going for $500 on eBay! Had I not assumed I could buy them later I would have kept them!

A lot of perfumers are having to use synthetic because some ingredients are now no longer attainable or ethical. Especially animalic scents like castoreum, civet and even ambergris.
@Scentsibility
@Scentsibility Год назад
I understand on the animalic scents but I feel high end brands are using other synthetic notes to save on cost but advertising that they only use high end ingredients to justify the cost. I smell more high-end ingredients in the vintage perfume and edt version last all day.

Truer words haven't been spoken: They don't make perfumes as good as they used to. Take it from someone who has lived through five and a half decades. So many of the fragrances I encountered in their original formulation are literally unrecognizable today. I've tried to get vintage scents but got tired of throwing my money away because they'd arrive completely rancid and therefore unwearable.

Have you ever smelled the vanilla musk if so how does it compare to the vanilla fields. Which smell better
@Scentsibility

I have not... im not a big musk fan.. vanilla fields is a vanilla bomb if you get the original formula. ❤️

I found the Vanilla Musk by Coty to be flat and woody. The Vanilla Fields is fresher and lighter, and somehow natural vanilla, not a bakery vanilla. Not chocolatey vanilla. If you like vanilla musk, try Nemat Vanilla Musk oil. All their stuff is great!

Recently I heard someone mention modern perfumes in the following way, “If you don’t want to eat it like a cupcake, it’s not perfume.” Having grown up with my mother’s wonderful taste in perfume, I regret to say that the cupcake thing seems to be true. I miss vintage fragrances. 💞 New sub!

What’s the difference between heavenly and dream angels heavenly? I thought it was called heavenly back in 2007, but it had to be dream angels based on the year. Very Sexy for Her was reformulated to be Very Sexy - poor substitute and disappointing

We like to create new words or me at least... just means it's an amazing fragrance. 😀 Or I'm refer to a scent profile of resins like what is in Shalimar

@@Scentsibility SMDHSHIAFO!!! Or...if you haven't seen that, it means Shaking My Damn Head So Hard It About Fell Off...and not in a good way. When I was attempting to look it up, I assumed you couldn't pronounce "balsamic" correctly--because there were several other fragrance words you mispronounced--but there isn't a balsamic accord in Shalimar.

@joannathesinger770 I mispronounce alot of words nobody's perfect. Shalimar is a warm resinous fragrance with vanilla. If you need the exact notes please look on Fragrantica. I do these videos to help people not to be scrutinized by viewers. I appreciate your feedback.

@@Scentsibility because people might want to try or buy these perfumes and they'll never find them looking for "Supra" or coca flora...🙄be more considerate of your audience. I get the feeling you're using speech to text, and it's not very accurate. You ought to have made the effort to check the spelling.

@@Scentsibility Only a self-righteous narcissist uses sarcastic or condescending remarks to belittle and undermine others. Thank you for your vintage collection video!

@rtp1968 the person explained their reason for pointing out the spelling not being helpful to scent newbies who may look for scents and not find it due to incorrect spelling...it's not narcissistic to give constructive criticism when there is a genuine intention to help...the commenters intention is actually trying to help newbies, but some people are interpreting the tone as utterly negative when it could also be perceived in a different and more objective way. Her goal was not to belittle the creator, a true narcissist simply belittle to raise themselves up but in my opinion that was not the case and most people do agree with spelling being important and if you are going to go to all the trouble of creating a video and all the work that goes into it, then why not take the last bit of effort to.copy the spelling which is right on the bottles, they are right there, its not "just let it be"......I see both points of view, I just thought throwing the n word was too much. I have no clue where to find the original. It's hard to find original bottles online. I was recently looking for kate walshs boyfriend. the 2008 version, not the reformulated one and that has a different color ribbon. What differentiates the vanilla fields bottle please? I smelled the new one in store recently and wasn't a fan

@@rtp1968i don't see sarcasm being used. A question was asked . Sarcasm is usually something like"oh ya, that is some great spelling skills you have there". Do you see what I mean? I'm no expert (please don't get mad at me ,it's hard to convey tone of voice in text) but I think there is a difference in this case. The question about the spelling and then they wrote the correct spelling and pointed out some incorrect spelling. Where was the sarcasm you noticed?
