Never realised how funny Basil's screaming in the background was. "First thing tomorrow, you get the ingredients for a Waldorf Salad or I'm going to break your bottom!"

The best episode of Fawlty Towers, the interactions between Basil and Mr Hamilton are incredible and utterly hilarious, Bruce Boa was superb in this.

When Basil pretends he's yelling at the chef, it makes me think of Norman Bates pretending he's being yelled at by his mother. 😁

This episode always cracks me up. "We took some little back road called the M5" 😂🤣

Now on the celery front...

Waldorf salad is one the best American inventions ever, the first time I found out about it was in a supermarket and I read the ingredients in it and brought it to try it and I was happy I did because it is delicious.

One of my favorite episodes. Basil is used to bullying his guests and be dominating towards them but in this episode he finally met his match in the american guest who wasn't gonna have any of Basil's bullshit and actually stand up for himself.

If only Basil had listened to his wife, who knew how to make a Waldorf salad, as the audience saw, and the salad was very good According to Mr, Hamilton, he would never have got into trouble with the American in the first place. But Basil was too Proud to admit he knew nothing about Waldorf salads. He paid the price!

At the end of the day, *neither* the American guest was right or was Basil. I get the American paid extra to keep the kitchen opened overtime, but Basil should have made it clear that doing this, he can only have what is on the menu, and demanding something that isn't *would be* a breach of hotel regulations/rules and thus would not be served. Basil also should not have gave him so much lies/BS about making the salad, Terry being in the kitchen etc. Shows his ignorance/ineptitude at hotel management. PS: I *know* it's supposed to be funny.
