It´s a convenient excuse, pretty much exploiting the system so you don´t have to say anything. If you are the one doing the investigation then you can stall it forever and never have to talk about it. Also allows you to have plenty of time to craft the outcome or at the very least come to a conclusion when it´s no longer relevant.

The FBI didn't initiate any investigation the Republicans have a majority in the house. The person that controls the documents in the White House initiated the raid Trump to retrieve the documents that she knew he had & for a year had been giving him the opportunity to return them. Now once the issue had been addressed Pence & Biden checked for documents they may have had & found some NO ONE KNEW THEY EVEN HAD & returned them & they were not classified. Trump had seriously classified documents like blueprints to nukes etc...showing them to his billionaire friend 😱❗️

Idk... let me give you my take. He was nominated by 45 on recommendation of some people who know his state of mind, I'd say that he is a registered republican. What happened then ? Some may say it is bribery, or that they have something on him. In my opinion, and from what I read in his manner of reasoning and answering, as well as his body language, at his level of knowledge, he is devoted to protecting the sitting POTUS, whoever he might be. He seams to be working for team POTUS in the objective of protecting him or her at all costs, no more red and blue, or goodies and baddies, he is protecting the function, even if he has to act against "his own team". Some of the MPs and senators even understand this position, even though they act as if they were mad at him or surprised. It is all a Kabuki theater, let's not get riled about it, this position might even be good for we the people, maybe the stability of POTUS is more important for the collectivity then putting the Biden crime family under bars.
