Minister Wike, You are doing great, but anytime engineers design roads in an urban area we also take into account the users by providing them with sidewalks and bus stops with a shelter. I did not see any on this present project you are commissioning today. Please warn the people surrounding you to do it right the first time. Thank You.
Good to provide infrastructure like roads but the Federal government should not concentrate in construction of roads in Abuja alone. Roads are more required to link state capitals with rural areas where farmers, hunters, fishermen, local traders etc reside. When there are good roads linking rural settlements and urban centers it will be easier and cheaper to transport produce from production centers in the rural communities to the cities. This will benefit the entire economy and citizens better, instead of just spending huge amounts in Abuja where mostly only the politicians and elites reside. When farmers, hunters, fishermen and local traders are encouraged, production of goods and services will peak, prices of food will drop and any excess produce or commodity could then be exported to earn the country foreign exchange. Even factories will set up in rural communities if there are good road networks to allow for easy distribution of products. I know the Federal government may not have the sole responsibility to build roads in the various 36 States and over 700 local governments but it will be for their interests to do so not withstanding! if the economy of the states are productive and thrive , the overall Nigerian economy will boom and the Federal government will take the credit!!!
Tell your governors to embark on link roads and connect their various capitals to the suburbs. FCT minister is delivering on his assignment or do you expect him to come use FCT allocation to fix road in Anambra or Ado Ekiti because I don't understand your wailing. States and local government should do the work they were elected to do and you guys should focus on what they are doing and not doing as far as FCT is concerned everyone in FCT are liking it.
