Cluster headaches can be just as bad as migraines and even harder to treat, but doctors have signed off on a new drug that can help this pain that comes from behind the eyes; KDKA's Maria Simbra reports.
That was my first thought too. BUT, Sign me up cause I just started my next cluster, TODAY. And anxiety is taking over and I don't know what I'm going to do. I have 3 kids and bills and a life, and it's going to be another plus or minus 2 months of this. I wasn't ready for another one and last time my doctors treated me like I was a liar or a drug addict and I basically went through my cluster alone, no help. I can't do it again. :'( I will be talking to my doctor about this at my appointment on the 30th. I hope that this is an option, and that it's an option that will actually work.
Seriously. Fuck that whole news station. Way to minimize a debilitating condition by calling it "almost as bad as these little baby migraine headaches."
When nitrates in food are broken down by bacteria in the mouth and gut they are eventually converted into nitric oxide in the blood stream, a chemical that dilates blood vessels and can aid cardiovascular health by boosting circulation. Cluster headaches are a neurological issue, not enough blood circulating and it seems to be in the same cycles every year. Looks like we gotta find the bacteria to take to balance out the overwhelming nitrate breakdown bacteria to help the blood flow in the blood vessels. Think I may have found the correct help!! Idk gotta find the bacteria and probiotic that has that bacteria and try it out. It's going into fall so my brother is headed into another cluster cycle and has to sleep sitting up for fear of these breakouts being severe. They are mild if he sleeps sitting up but he is tired this route. This is no way to live!!! Grrrr I'm angry at the toxicity all over killing the bacteria we need!!! We gotta find the source, not suppression. The source is bacteria needed and bacteria the medical establishment has killed!!
Nitrate reductase is a part of a group of molybdenum-containing enzymes responsible for catalyzing two-electron transfer reactions in global carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur cycles (4, 7). Nitrate reductase catalyzes the first and rate-limiting step in nitrate assimilation, which involves reducing nitrate to nitrite. Could be lack of this Enzyme as well or both. Taking both is a win win. Also DMSO eye drops and solution for pain as well and looks like theres a connection with DMSO.
@@tonya.vahle80 so did you find something? For me prednisone and my emergency injector work really well so far. Like when I feel them coming on I start the prednisone and if i don't catch it in time and the stabbing, light, sound, nausia start I stuck myself. Takes about 5-10 min. To start working but damn am i happy for it.
It's The worst pain known to mankind and I stand by that 1000 percent. Back in 2020 I was in a serious motorcycle accident and broke my hip tailbone pelvis and elbow basically the left side of my body. Yes it hurt and took my breath away for a good minute. However once they gave me pain medication it went away and I was able to walk out of The hospital (with cruches) The same day. They actually wanted me to stay for a week. But I said no im going home. The recovery took six months and it was painful. But it wasn't as bad as a suffering a clusterheadache attack!!
All I see and you guys are both survivors of the cluster headache and the migraines huh and let me guess you survived a heart attack only to get cancer
The very first words out of the anchor's mouth were offensively inaccurate. Just as bad as migraines??????? Cluster headaches are orders of magnitude WORSE than the most painful migraine ever dreamed of being. You do us a distinct disservice with that misstatement of the facts..
I have been cluster free for almost five years. After I got my life straight and back on track I'm reminded they never go away. I'm currently going through my 4th week of CH and I would kill to just have a migraine. I can live with that!
I get them about every 5 yrs. For 40 yrs Treatments are short lived My dad had them till he died at 88 while having one he had a massive heart attack Treatment.plans are few most don't work Long term clusters cause other heath issues and so does the meds Take it from one who knows
@@willchase2895 I have had clusters for 35 yrs saw 6 Nero's 5 nero surgeons the meds caused cysts on liver heart issues ulcers and meds short lived. Nero told me when he was in med school they skipped right over clusters because they don't know enough about them. My endocrinologist said they think it's coming from a hormone build up that effects the penial gland in the brain that produces to much or to little of a hormone. That In turn effects the nerves and the sleep waking up in pain but not enough research Everything is money that's why not enough research.
I started having CH at age 11. When I had my first child, I didn’t scream or panic in anyway and actually stunned the doctors. I kept waiting for the pain to intensify to what I’ve known during years of cluster headaches. It never happened! I went on to have 2 other children. I would rather do childbirth every morning during a cycle than fight the violent beast of a cluster headache.
@@amandalovestreyI’ve given birth 4 times! Child birth pain is much much easier to deal with! Child birth pain is like tripping and falling and skinning your knee Compared to a cluster! 😂 and this injection their talking about and their statistics are bull! Google them!
That's so sad sweetie that you are still in this situation anyway I know of a doctor who can help you out with this. He also help me from this same disease , He can also help you cure yours permanently

@@tonypuczylowski7263 My brother doses once every 3-4 weeks. An 8th in one shot about once every 20-25 days. Not a microdose. Hes totally headache free. Has been for years, Hes pretty middle of the road too. Oftentimes he doesnt wanna take the psilocybin... he needs it though
More clinical trials for micro-dosing psilocybin for CH & cCH needs to be funded. We end up putting such high levels of pharmaceuticals in our bodies, I have been the patient who suffered severe side effects. Cluster Headaches are the most intense pain known to humans, they are not equal to migraines. Yes they're a rare primary headache condition, but come on news reporters they are should not even be used in the same sentence with migraine. It's a different headache condition, and the intensity far exceeds migraine pain. I do not mean to demean or diminish the suffering migrainers have, i know they also suffer, however it is a poor comparative and often misdiagnosed, especially due to gender bias if you're a woman with the condition.
It’s important to microdose regularly 1 month before you’re CH season. If you get clusters in October and April, you need to start dosing in September and March. If you’re late it doesn’t work.
Comparing Cluster Headaches with Migraine, piss me off ! I SUFFER from Cluster Headaches for 15 year , this pain is SUCIADAL !! Even the name Cluster " Headaches " dont sound fair , WHAT ABOUT CLUSTER DEMONS ?
Yes!!! This!! Wtf is up with the name?!?? Every time I tell someone I have CH they tell me how they or someone they know get migraines.. like the name does not explain how painful and debilitating this condition is
@@jhinagarcia3779 Hope you're pain free , this year it's been horrible for me , not even responding to the oxygen , and at the end of my cycle now, but still got the shadow.
@@carlosvalentin2051 I’m actually going thru a cycle right now.. last cycle was almost a year ago… I tried magic mushrooms and it’s truly a life saver! They usually work in a minute or 2 which is the fastest relief I’ve experienced but not gonna lie… sometimes not even mushrooms can take it away 😣
The lady with the clusters in this video made me cry when she said she use to smash her head against the wall, This is what iv being doing in total frustration with the excessive pain and before watching this video my wife said I was a total nutcase and need to see a psychiatric doctor or we will be over, She now for the 1st time understands the pain. CH is not just as bad as migraines! It’s hell in your eyeball all the way to the gums! It’s like having a torture chamber inside your left head. I’m in the CH cycle right now. It feels like pure torture....I finally got a prescription for emgality. But waiting to have insurance cover it...
@@Dan-il8lv I’m for the US. They do prescribe emgality, but I think because it’s so new, the insurance didn’t recognize it for cluster headaches. Hopefully, this will change soon.
I’ve had migraines. And since 2015 I have had 3-cycles of Clusters. Nobody I know has them. When u talk about it u hear, “that’s how my migraines be”. Oh man, stop it. I would love a migraine compared to CH. it’s 2019-10 and they are back. These clusters suck suck suck!!!!!!
Ive suffered from Episodic Cluster Headaches for about 6 years. I took this medication last year. It converted my curse to chronic. I wish i could offer treatment advice, but what works changes over time.
Me help me please. Mine just restarted July 24 22. Today is Aug 12/22. Was hurting so badly a few minutes ago honestly thought about driving my car into a building. These things are the worst. Don’t know why I’ve been blessed with this. But it’s been apart of my life since 2007. No one should have to live like this. Can’t go anywhere do anything it’s really depressing 😢😢😢
2000$ dollars a month???? are fucking kidding me????? this country blows sooooo bad!!!! not even in south america we had to deal with this level of neglect from our soncalled 3rd world countries" this is massive BS
I've been diagnosed with 12 different kinds of headaches and migraines. I've had them for 25 years. The cluster headache is the worst pain I have ever endured, I would rather break more bones than have another. I live with a headache or migraine 24/7 with no break. When my pain gets a 10 scale is when 5 or 6 different ones hit me at once but the pain medication only stops 1 kind not the rest. The doctor doesn't want me on cetains medications because I might become addicted. Since I'm to live with this the rest of my life isn't that kind of redundant? I suffer from depression and anxiety because of this. I wear a bracelet that says Just One More Day to help me keep going. How do other people keep going? Why do they keep going? Is there a reason? There is no cure, it's constant and at times all encompassing. I don't have the answer.
The prescriptions medications that can stop a CH are not habit forming. The doctors should know that. Pure oxygen (as prescribed by a doctor) has shown to be very effective, Verapimil helps to relax blood vessel walls..... Zomig will shut it down within a couple of minutes, but it is prescribed and aborts the headache, will not prevent them though. Join the reddit subgroup for Cluster headaches, and don't give up, there is hope, Diet change perhaps, avoid chocolate, smoked, cured meats (pepperoni, bacon), and aged cheeses, Bananas and nuts too, (loaded with sulfites) avoid products like MSG like the plague, Asian fare is the worst, even though it tastes good. These changes might keep you from triggering a CH, or migraine for a while. Give you some time to think when you are not in so much pain.
I keep going because what choice is there? I've got kids, responsibilities, shit to do... I feel like I have no other choice, even though, I will admit that there are days where I find myself asking the same questions that you are. You've pointed out one of the bad parts about these: so little is known about them. You have to work with a doc to come up with a treatment plan that works for you, because what works for one may not work for another. It woupd be nice if you could go to a doc, tell him or her what you have, and have them say oh, well, here take this and you'll be all better in a few days. It works for everyone, equally. Unfortunatey that's just not the case.
i tried that emgality shit, did three shots (wish it came with an autoinjector like that). i was having a bad reaction. it lasted a month to leave my body. severe sleepyness and anxiety and muscle issues. still diddnt help my headaches. IME, the only thing that has ever helped me was Psilocybin Mushrooms 1/3rd of a gram every three days every spring P. ovoidiocystidiata pops up from the wood chips in my front yard, its like God put them there.
I have suffered from cluster headaches. Luckily I haven’t had a cycle in a couple years. It’s really sad our government in the us won’t allow you to use things that actually work. Rc seeds are legal and work. Mushrooms work better.
Here in Germany you also have to pay it by yourself, because it’s not approved for cluster headache. There are no 100 mg injections here either. Only 120 mg. I hope that changes soon! The only way I can manage at the moment is by taking LSD. Actually, I am completely against drugs, but when you have this headache, you try everything to make it stop.
That has been the problem all along with doctors etc there is Nothing that compares with chronic cluster headache it is the worst pain known to medical science and is why 80 percent of sufferers commit suicide. I wish every medical professional would have to go through a year of it then they would never compare with anything ever again. Chronic cluster headache stole my life from age 19 to 57 ,I am now 63 and they have pretty much stopped. I would not wish them on our worst enemy. I was on O2 and morphine
So sorry for your suffering. My wife aged 53 had her first attack today and was diagnosed straight away. Oxygen at hospital took it away. She has been prescribed with nasal spray.
