HERE YOU WILL SEE VIDEO 1 OF 2 OF THE FDNY BATTLING A MAJOR 5TH ALARM FIRE IN A SCHOOL BUILDING ON MULBERRY STREET IN THE CHINATOWN AREA OF MANHATTAN IN NEW YORK CITY.
Thank you for the video. Yes, it's a kind of voyeurism, but on the other hand, we all can see how the members have to fight the dangers. In other videos, JJ has refused to show victims and pointed the camera away, which I really appreciate. No sensationalism, but a good documentation of the work of the FDNY and of course, in many other videos, the FDs in New Jersey. Great work!
Love to watch your videos John! Always such great coverage!! Love the drone coverage. A great job by the firefighters. Glad rescue was successful. Heroes in action!! Thanks again John! Stay safe!!
Thanks for your great work on this one.i know that area has narrow access on some of the streets. It makes it difficult for responding, especially due to the lack of hooking up some time. This school had to be a total loss for the community. Again the brothers did a great job under the conditions that they had to face. Stay safe John.
Outstanding! Both the coverage in image and coms, as the work of the NYFD. Great work on rescueing the trapped person, and the fire was quickly down after the building was evacuated. Glad to see them use drones now, they are a great way to get good overview and guide personel and equipment to the best effect possible.
@@THEMAJESTIRIUM1, I have to second what Deborah posted. Your fire-ground coverage is some of the BEST I've ever seen. You give a good, well informed sidebar-narration to the main scene, and you know what you're talking about. As a former FF/EMT, myself, getting to follow the fire-ground radio traffic is greatly appreciated, as well. Takes me back over half a lifetime, now... The only other channel I've found that gives as near as good local coverage as you do is David Decker and he's NFD, Battalion-1 Chief in Newark, Ohio! Keep up the great work. I'm newly subscribed so I'll be able to keep up, now.
Nice coverage JJ it's a treat to ladder pipe in use. It is unusual for FDNY. So much action in the city must be hard to keep up luckily the Jersey boys are quiet for now.
prayers for the victim, nice work by the NYFD with their bravery and heroics battling the inferno, as always great video John thanks for sharing....Scott
Great video JJ as always. Maybe a dumb question, but do the ladder pipes have a camera up near the nozzle, or is it all visual from the controls at the base? Thanks!
I’ve been watching your videos for a while now and I have to agree with the other comments you do a great job explaining the situation! I can’t get over how calm everyone is being. I’ve been caught in a house fire. We would’ve all died if my brother hadn’t woke up and yelled fire!!! I realize firemen are trained to stay calm but that’s a primal fear !! It’s amazing how well they keep it from spreading especially in New York ! The building are on top of each other. I also have to admit I’m from the Deep South and y’all’s accents are just so different. I almost need a dictionary to follow along !! Rofl but I think I’m understanding it better. “ youz guyz “ are doing a very good job !
Its funny how much of he water they were spraying in through the 4th floor windows was just flying out through the missing roof and not really touching the building at all.
It was obvious that the 5th floor/roof had collapsed when ladder 12's stream went right through and out the roof! Very nice job on this inicident, John, you are getting better and better! the quality shows thusly! ! Also, everybody tells you in the comments to "stay safe" and I agree about 945%! ;-) Too bad we can't see what the crew of the helo sees! Be good, be safe, my man!!
15:32: "Windows are bursting, the fire is spreading (...)." It's again one of these 19th century to 1930s vintage buildings with lots of wood inside, e.g. wooden floors. As it is well shown here, the colour of the fire (@ about 10:00) is changing to bright yellow, meaning that the fire is burning through ceilings and other parts of the building as well as a rise in temperature! Thanks God the person trapped inside was saved!
You can tell by the color of the lights in the small slit windows in the taller corner section of the building that its a brightly lit interior stairwell.
Excellent coverage as always, and what an opening, Dramatic!! Was waiting for the opening titles when you drove to the scene. "Themajestirium1 Presents - A MissedDog Production - "The Fire Fighting Film Maker Rides out". I saw that the fire made the digital news of Associated Press. Look for fire-rages-in-building-in-heart-of-manhattans-chinatown. All my respect för your fantastic work and efforts. Best regards //J-C
Another beautiful building cut down in size. Now two stories and not five, but they saved the cool corner/stairwell tower and very nice brownstone work. The property is still being finished, according to Google Earth Street View, and it's going to be a good looking property. When I hear the word victim I think of death, should I think of it that way, or perhaps casualty, but that doesn't sound right. Resident in need of urgent rescue or RNUR...naw. Victim's good I guess. Did the victim survive? Anyway, I noticed while watching this video, you were capturing a close up of the two firefighters on Tower Ladder One. Between 38:00 - 39:00 a strong back light was showing one of the firefighters shadow on the brick building and I found that interesting.
I watch fire videos on YT from all over the country, and I'm sorry but NO ONE seems to be slower at getting water on a fire than NYFD. That's not a knock on the firefighters, that's a critique of the command structure. Pure NYC.
I read in the news that there were nine injured, eight of them firefighters, though none life threatening. All my best wishes for their speedy and full recovery //J-C

John, you know that I think you do an awesome job, but I was wondering if you would think about doing a couple of things when you write out where the fire is. Since I live in Chicago and I have never been to New York City. I really like going to google maps and seeing where the fire is at exactly. So how about putting the cross streets that the fire is by and also if possible my friend the address, and maybe the name of the building or storefront. I am looking at the map and trying to look for Mulberry, but I cannot find this school because of no extra info. I really do appreciate what you do, and if I can ever get outta this frigging nursing home, I will be doing the same thing here in Chicago. Thanks again John, God Bless you and may he keep you and all of the Men and Women of The New York City Fire Department SAFE FROM HARM.
WELL I WILL TRY TO DO BETTER BUT MOST OF MY POST HAVE AT LEAST THE STREET NAME IN THE TITLE OR DESCRIPTION. ALSO, THE ONES I PUT THE BOX NUMBER ON, IS WHERE THE ADDRESS OF THE FIRE MIGHT BE WITHIN A FEW BLOCKS OR SO. LASTLY, ANY FDNY BOX LOCATOR APP OR THE FDNY TWITTER ACCOUNT HAVE A LOT OF THAT INFO ON THEM TOO! THANKS SO VERY MUCH FOR YOUR KIND WORDS AND SUPPORT ALAWYAS! ;o)
John, please don't take what I said to heart. You are already doing a great job. It is just when I looked up Mulberry street on Google Maps it shows me that Mulberry is only so long. And I wanted to see if I could find that school either before or after the fire, by looking at the satellite photos.
My god I’m usually very slow to criticize the pros of FDNY but get some water on the fire damn. It spread the entire roof and top floor before any water was on fire
