Drive lapse video of FDR Drive, starting from the Harlem River Parkway and heading southerly along the east river to Battery Park in Lower Manhattan, and then turning around and heading back north, below the iconic Brooklyn, Manhattan and Williamsburg Bridges before crossing over to the Bronx on the Willis Avenue Bridge and then following the Bruckner Expressway to Interstate 95.

Great drive! Did you know? If you look closely to the right at 3:29, there's used to be exit 6 to East 15th Street and that has been permanently closed in 2002 due to concern of terrorist attack on the ConEdison substation after 9/11 attack.

At 8:43 on the right is the McDonalds that was used as McDowel's in Coming to America! MOVIE TRIVIA for you!

The red decking of the bruckner expressway is similar to what’s happening on the Gardiner expressway right now.

hello aplanet, thank you for this drive - 150th street to grand street would be great. the roads needs a little adopt-a-highway to no lits. the east side has the most connections to the bronx, queens to brooklyn. experienced the first time in 2000s - the bike tour took the riders from 40s and crossed over to queens from bruckner (?) - the closed the roads on a sunday. it was fun. elle for bicycles

Such a fun drive, especially with free-flowing traffic! I remember how far ahead of time I spent planning to get FDR Drive with as little traffic as possible, it was not an easy task for a Tuesday afternoon!

This was filmed deliberately on a Sunday morning. I did Boston on the Saturday and then New York on the Sunday.

@@AsphaltPlanet1 I only had 24 hours with my rental car in NYC, had to make do with what I had, but traffic turned out much better than I feared

Great video as always. Looks like certain trenches of FDR road needs a major overhaul. Greetings.

In my opinion, driving through NYC is certainly something (When you don’t encounter any traffic congestion, ofc). I honestly was quite surprised to not see any congestion through the BQE either. In my opinion NYC is by far the most congested city in North America. It’s more or less like Montreal, but in much worse! While seeing tops of America’s most congested cities, it was constantly among the top 5. If you’re lucky, the Bronx does have fluid traffic sometimes, but the BQE, there’ll always be at least one section of congestion, whatever the time of day is. To drive on it, the best time of day is during nighttime. So yeah, it certainly takes forever to drive through NYC

Montreal definitely has some NYC vibes. Montreal feels more like New York does compared to Toronto. From the highway at least.
