It's the government's apathy they hate, the fact they support, or blind-eye to a lot of shady corporate practices, the alignment between church and state and the crushing dystopian removal of autonomy through abused use of technology. The man behind the lyrics is a visionary, maybe I'm jaded, but he's lyrics since the 90's have hit the spot on commentary against the worst in society. LOVE this band, LOVE your reactions!
Christploitation is another banger from the Mechanize album the vocalist Burton has said this about the meaning of the lyrics which is an attack on the Christian faith "Christianity has become a parody of itself. Through the ages, exploitation of myths, words, and the use of the fear tactic, have ruled the masses. We have seen so much death and destruction in the name of a man made god that it means nothing. What is faith, but the belief in an archaic superstition; an overwhelming fear to face reality of the world today. Invoking the name of Christ has become a common practice. The original concept does not apply. This is control through conformity and a false sense of morality."
When first heard the album i Was like wow these guys are on form, i liked powershifter more, but as time Went on and numerous listens fear campaign grew to be my favourite of the two and stayed fresh for me. I find The words are extremely memorable. I actually like the title track better than powershifter it hits harder, poweshifter is like the go to single you can wear out overplaying but still a great song. The whole album is great honestly.
