I watched this video like 3 times and I understood what this video is actually about. The whole video is just a solid turnaround on the take of "fear of the unknown". When he says that "you know that logically there isn't something there", the images used has something there. In the firewatch example too, there is something there was he says nothing. Additionally, the second last sequence sums up with things like " the unknown always stands there" and "what things might be waiting for us to explore?". There are multiple other examples where you'll see this pattern, if you watch and pay close attention. What I concluded from this video is that you never know if there is something there or not. You may fear or not fear it doesn't matter there might be something or vice versa. And this take can have different meaning for different people based on different situations and environments, which make this video a all time..... MASTERPIECE!! EDIT: This is just my take on the video, I have missed a lot of things which you can see for yourself as was too tired of writing a long message lol
I remember reading "Being and Nothingness" back when I was a kid as my brother gifted me on my birthday and I was completely drawn to the ideas of existence. Amazing how well made, incorporated and crafted this video is from the very start to the end. Kudos!
One of the best essays I have seen in a while on a topic so distinct than the usual videos. The choice of words and the references were awesome. Definitely not something I expected from such a underrated channel. Whole my childhood, I used to think about the fear I used to get walking besides a empty forest. I didn't knew if there was something or not but "this" very fear of the unknown made me nervous so many times.
i absolutely love this video, i love the way you worded your thoughts, the references you used and the beautiful / effortless transitions and links you made between them to fully express the terrifying nature of the unknown and nothingness. the outro was briliant, truly, this video is just excellent and brilliant !
i know alot of people say this but youre genuinely underrated af i watch your videos while eating idk if you get what i mean by that but i hope it helps you
That's an awesome video! Was really surprised to see how small your channel still is and how few people have seen it. Keep those essays up and your channel will explode :)
I think like this almost every time I play Silent Hill, Stanley Parable, and Firewatch. Fear of the unknown is the strangest and most horrifying fear but sadly few games incorporate this feeling. Lovecraft's words sums it all and I really admire the way you also used Minecraft, Stardew and Firewatch as an example which was not something I thought of for a long while. I watch a wide range of essays everyday but this is one of the best videos I've seen in the past few months. The progression of this video is just unbelievable specially considering this is a first hand upload. Plus, the images and background music is just perfect choice. I hope to see some great content here :-)
Outlast is a game that relies a lot more on really weird anomolies and creatures appearing that weren’t there before and than just fading out of existence. Which makes the game insanely creepy and that’s a massive part of why I believe outlast is such a great game
To be honest, its a weird feeling like I am in complete hell when I fear something unknown and the relief I get after it is also soothing. Its kind of weird state of feelings with which I have a love-hate kind of relationship....
