I'm curious if it was a secret within the family on some level. Outside, of the line of firstborn sons, I think the rest of the family knows they didn't come by their fortunes honestly, but maybe not that they're straight, summoning the devil. I do think they feel on some level it's probably worse than something like white-collar crime, but are too scared to investigate further.
